NOT class based. it works for some games, but ruins most. First, half the players will choose snipers, because everyone thinks snipers are super awesome stealthy badasses, but in the game, it just don't work. you can never go anywhere, because you will be sniped.

Next, to make the classes differ, they have to make each classes weapons excel in one area, but suck in others ex: the shotgun, sure it's horrible at long ranges, but then it's way too overpowered at close quarters, then there is always the normal assault class, with an assault rifle that is way underpowered, and loses to all the other stronger weapons.
Then all the shotgun classes will hide right inside doors, and all the snipers will hide way out on the edges of maps, where no one else can kill them, and the stealth class will spam the -blam!- out of you with their C4/claymores whatever.

THat's why i love halo, it's so fair, everyone starts out with the same thing, and same chance to acquire power weapons,

I like the weapon attachment idea, just as long as there are none that can be terrible expoited ie: under barrel grenade launcher.

but being able to choose diff. sights, burst/fire modes would be cool.

I just don't see how it would work given our current weapon set.
They would need to do a *ton* of changes in order to adapt it to fit a class based system. Otherwise half of everyone would be the shotgun rocket class and the rest the sniper class.

If they were going to do a class based game, they could easily do something outside of the Halo universe, but as it is, it just doesn't work out well.

Okay to fix that

A:Classes wouldn't be for all matchmaking playlist and you could turn it off in custom games. People wouldn't have to moan about players hogging certain classes because all weapons would still be availiable on the map, and maybe just if you choose the sniper class you would be better with the sniper and same thing with other classes.

B:Classes are a option for custom games. You can choose if humans, zombies, party leader, vip, etc can choose classes. And you can create your own classes and turn default classes off for custom games, or even just turn the classes off. Could make for some interesting gametypes.

Although people disagree with me, i think it would be pretty cool to be able to choose your starting weapon. No more kids whining over not grabbing the sniper, and i get to have it all to myself. :D I don't really like the over shield and active camo idea though.

If it is executed properly, I would love to see classes in MM. It would be interesting to say the least. A nice change of pace for Halo multiplayer, but if it doesn't happen, I'll still be content anyhow. :)

It would be cool, however, to get a few ideas from SW: B2 and other types of games, just not the exact same thing, and only a select few ideas.
