Subject: Halo 2 is rated 'M' for mature, confirmed.

Halo 2 has been rated 'M' for Mature (17+) by the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) in the U.S.

It's been given a rating of 15+ by Entertainment & Leisure Software Publishers
Association (ELSPA) in Europe (UK etc).

So although the UK and the rest of Europe have to wait 2 more days, you guys have to be officially '17' to play it. Just thought I'd point that out.

it should be rated teen...and i have proof...IF halo 2 is no more violent/gory than halo 1 it should get a TEEN, because i read that in Halo 1 they dont do/say anything that is too violent/profane for prime-time TV, like the simpsons

I agree but it's still interesting to find out. I can see that it might have a reason to be put in this age bracket but all in all i agree with him. Although it is a bit dodgy about the age difference thing in the ratings but hey we have to wait longer than u so button it!

There's no need for this type of thing. I'm letting you know the games rating. People like to know these type of things.

Theres a thin line between a T rating and an M rating.
A lot of it has to do with what your shooting at, and in Halo, you can shoot pretty much any other living thing you see, including humans (the ESRB makes a big deal out of this). Language is a strong factor too.

its not just about what they say, its about the gore, violence, etc.

You shoot and kill things in halo right? Blood flies everywhere, right? A rated T game wouldnt have blood in it

It says in the Halo 2 theatre trailer that is rated "M for Mature." The rating boards seem to be getting pretty strict nowadays with these ratings all thanks to those angry over protective parents.

There is nothing to discuss. its rated M and thats final. if you dont like M or cant buy M tough luck, life sucks for you. I just disregard the whole rating system. I buy a game if it is good, the rating makes no difference. ESRB is for moms who want to try and keep their kids cooped up in a bubble of safety. waste of time

Just randomly, why is it rated 17+ in the US and 15+ over here in the UK?

My parents don't care about the ratings if I want the game they usually don't care if it's M or T so I don't have those type of problems plus I preordered it like most people.

I honestly think ratings don't matter much anymore..

I can get any rated movie/game I want now, and I am only 15.

Either people are lazy and don't check the ratings, or they don't care.

Plus, I am sure everyone here pre-ordered it, so they get the game no matter what the rating is. >_>

Dude i am 14 and i can play halo or whatever i want, and i have played games that are more bloody and crap, but i don't see why they did rate it M, FOR GODS SAKE I PRE-ORDERED IT AND MY MOM DOESNT CARE ABOUT THE RATING! IT IS JUST THE -blam!- LOSERS THAT DON'T HAVE KIDS, WHO CARE ABOUT THE RATING!

Halo was rated M for the gore and the ability to shoot humans, most obviously, but also for some of the dialogue you hear playing legendary...Marines yelling ''Whore!'' aren't exactly everyones idea of fun for the whole family.
