Dude i am 14 and i can play halo or whatever i want, and i have played games that are more bloody and crap, but i don't see why they did rate it M, FOR GODS SAKE I PRE-ORDERED IT AND MY MOM DOESNT CARE ABOUT THE RATING! IT IS JUST THE -blam!- LOSERS THAT DON'T HAVE KIDS, WHO CARE ABOUT THE RATING!

See that button just to the left of the 'A' on your keyboard (Caps Lock), give it a push.

Also I'm not asking anything in this thread that is serious, I'm simply providing information to do with Halo 2.

Well, no one is complaining to you, just complaining in general.

Also. My mom really doesn't care that the game is rated mature, I'm 15 and we've already spoken on the matter.

Whats the difference if Halo 2 is rated 'M' or 'T' or 'E'? The reality is, the majority of people who are younger then 18 either get their parents, or elder siblings or family or friends to buy these types of things. Either that or if your where I live, store employees really seem not to care how old you are.

What does this matter we wouldn't be on here if we hadn't played Halo 1 which correct me if i'm wrong was also rated "M". And really the age limit is really loose I doubt all the people who played it were over 17. I'm technically underaged but I have it preordered and really there's nothing in Halo that is worse than a PG-13 movie and my parents agree with me on this heck I can drive a freaking car why cant I shoot aliens?

I say ratings should only affect children on the basis of their parents I.Q. therefore stupid kids(they have stupid parents so I assume they are somewhat stupid themselves) cannot buy the really violent games because their parents arent smart enough to raise them properly so they dont do stupid things in video games.

Ex...
<little timmy walks in EB>
Little Timmy: I want GTA:4 please!
Clerk: Can I see your parents I.Q. card please?
<Little timmy hands them the I.Q. card>
<clerk looks at card and frown>
Clerk: I am sorry Little timmy but your parents are dumb@sses, I cant sell you this, try tellitubbies adventure in rainbowland.
<little timmy runs out crying but it in the long run it prevents a mass murder from a dumb little kid>

"Help Help I'm being repressed! Come and see the Violence inherent in the system!"
"Bloody peasant!"
"Oh did you see that? you saw him repress me?"

This is probably because of Rag-Doll physics <dont start> because nearly every good game from Max Payne 2 has had Rag Doll physics, even before then certain major games had it in some form. RDP can be quite gory and off putting for young people especially if u knee-cap someone and the fall realisticly. In Halo the deaths were average, but you knew it was a game, in Max Payne 2 the death sequence actually look realistic! thats why it is an M and im praising it, gore in Halo sucked and was a little let down <im not a saddist>!

It's funny how the enforcement of entertainment is so silly. One store requires ID for a purchase of a mature game yet a underaged person could buy a R rated movie or a profane CD without ID. Having a strict age limit on VIDEO GAMES is downright stupid considering that the sales of video games to minors according to the law is just as strict as selling cigarettes and -blam!-. Does this mean that playing Halo is a damaging as the latter two I dont think so. And no matter what they do anyone can get their hands on a mature game just go on a mature Live game and you will see a shocking ammount of pre teens with annoying voices playing FPSers kids will always find a way. The solution is another rating symbol like after Raiders of the Lost Ark they added the PG-13 rating because it didn't belong in either the PG or R rating descriptions if they were to do that Halo would defintily wouldn't be in the R section. And andz jones RDP is often goofy with bodies flying all over and landing in quite comical ways there not that realistic.

There ARE stupid little kids.. my nephew for example! "Cory"
Me: Dont do that, the police might see you and come to arrest you" (he was only picking up sticks, big ones, like bigger than him)
Cory: No its alright, the cops will come, i'll say i'm sory, then when they let thier guard down, I'll cut them with my Light sabre"
Me: but there will be more than one, they'll shoot you!"
Cory: I'll say i'm sorry again, then i'll get the next one
Me: they'll shoot you!
Cory: I''ll deflect the bullets!

What the hey!?!? There are kids that get influenced by games and movies, (you would never believe how many times he tries to pull off some fight move and falls over)
Anyway, i dont care of the rating, but just because you pre-order it, doesnt mean they'll let you take it out of the store unless your old enough! (this happened to my friend with Vice City when he was only 15, it was a 16 plus here!)

now there is something seriously wrong with that.

you dont have to be 17. just get someone else to buy it. i go with my dad and as long as you have a parental guardian there you can have if you your 6.

Hey, if I remember right a store doesnt have to check id (they choose to make it store policy to keep the "concerned" parents happy). The ESRB is recommended and mostly for parents. A lot of retailers have signed up for the Commitment to Parents program and they enforce the ratings in their own stores, but they dont have to, they just make it store policy. The game developers dont even have to have their games rated, its voluntary. I dont know if this has changed but I was reading a website earlier that gave me the info.

i dont think many stores care about ratings. i mean, hell, im 14 and i went 2 best buy a couple days agao and bout unreal tournament while my dad waited in the car. even worse, when i was 13 i went 2 target and got gta vice city alone. these ppl honestly done care much so we dont have 2 worry about it. my parents like r never worried about me playing m games cause i tell them, hey, i kno its a game and i kno theres a difference, and they trust me 2 kno that.

Halo 2 could be rated E. Just tell little Timmy all the grunts are sleeping.

I'm 13, and my Parents let me get M games. My mind is warped far to much to let a little bit of blood affect me.

I also hate the ESRB. They are all evil, and were founded by evil Joe Lieberman.

As you've said earlier it is the stupid little kids, and the mimicing they do of things in game. And the even more stupid parents for allowing them access to these things. Its utterly bizarre how when little Jimmy decides to shoot someone because it looked so cool in GTA they run off and sue Rock Star for it, when the people who should be to blame are themselves for buying it for him, and allowing him to play it.

As for why Halo2 has a higher rating than Halo1 I beleive its probably due to the fact this time you see more red blood and dead/dying humans. The first game the blood was purple and alien, and as such its seen my the censors more as being cartoony and non realistic. In scenes like the 2003 E3 trailer where the MC walks through the medics and theres blood everywhere, and dead/dying marines all over the place. Scenes like this are more seen as real world violence even when its implied, and not you causing it. So as such this is more likely why the game has the higher rating.
