Subject: Food for Thought (about time travel theory)

Ugh...

First on a BWU.. yeah, I'm cool.

ODST;MYTHIC Screenshot winner! One of the first to get their hands on the mythic map pack.

No time travel, teleportation on the other hand, yes. We won't be seeing a sequel for a long time hopefully.

But it isn't out of the picture.

as for 'randomly' cortana managed to, without thinking about it, figure out that the crystaline paterns in a rock being taken by the covenant from a planet they were glassing were 'co-ordinates' suddenly your 'random' feels more like a map.

It isn't our shiznit anymore.

Then I guess you could say it was luck that Cortana deciphered a previous unknown language without thinking about it ;) . Anyways, these humans are some pretty lucky sons-o--blam!-.

I do agree with MLG Cheehwawa. Though isn't it funny how the Chief finds himself in these situations? First with "randomly" finding the halo ring after escaping Reach and now they drop out of slipspace and again "randomly" find a mysterious planet? I guess it just juices up the storyline.

its his so called "luck"

ill agree to 'luck' but not random, in the novels cortana chose 117 for his luck, and in working with him, she gave up trying to calculate his chances of succes at things, as he defied any for of probability.

yes a smart AI gave up on preddicting a human whose head they were in.

I agree that time travel is a possiblity (anything is a possiblity in a sci-fi universe), however the chances of this are very remote.
The gateway structure on Earth is what's sustaining the portal - that and the pylons of the Ark. Just like a tornado, in order for it to work, both sides must remain open. If one side collapses, the other side won't have enough energy to continue until the side that collapsed regains its energy - in which case, the Ark could not because of the firing of the Halo destroyed it. It's possible that the chief's half of the ship made it as the portal collapsed around them, and as the ship broke away, with Arbiters side making it back to Earth, Chief's half could have accelerated to who knows what side of the galaxy. Even in the Halo Universe, Slipspace was still very unpredictable.

read the books, slipspace was unpredictable to humans, the covenant almost had it sussed and the forerunners i think they made slipspace, but theres no evidence of that, or to the contary tbh.

the humans developed slipspace tech them selves, the covenant reverse engineered it from forerunner tech, same with energy shields and direct energy weapons.
