Subject: The Space Elevator ??

Alright so in various trailers of gameplay we've seen for ODST the Space Elevator in New Mombasa is still mostly in-tact and whole. BUT in halo 3 THE WHOLE space elevator has been blown to bits and scattered across the African Savana. So im thinking we will have to blow up the space elevator or something else will blow it up. Just speculation.

The elevator that goes into space. One of six on Earth at the time of Halo 3, and the one he is referring to is located in New Mombasa.

Golf Wang. Brony.

It probably falls somewhere during the events in ODST.

I don't know my Halo fiction, but probably the initial damge is enough to weaken the structure. That, or when the Covenant starts digging for the Ark the Space Elevator falls.

But imagine how epic that would be to see, that tall thing just crashing throughout the African landscape..

Oh, Okay thanks. Aren't they trying to make an actual space elevator in real life?

The space elevator is gigantic. Based on the condition of it in the background picture for the website, I would say there is more than enough of it missing to account for all the debris in Halo 3.

I love you stosh.

Its from the Slipspace rupture created by the Prophet of Regrets Assualt Crusier. When it jumped in atmosphere it caused an overpressure wave that demolished anything big.

Is this man the only person that pays attention during campaign? Honestly, you are all idiots, it gets destroyed when Regret jumps from the city in the slipspace rupture. +1 to you.

People have been trying to design a realistic one, but one of the main boundaries is the cost, which could be over 1 trillion dollars.

Edit to person above me: He is saying that it is completely leveled in Halo 3, but in ODST there is still a portion of it standing.

Wait so you mean that the halo looking debris on Tsavo Highway is the space elevator?

  • 06.28.2009 9:05 PM PDT

not a bad guess also sounds fun blowing stuff up is always good.

I agree with this. What is pictured in the banner is not tall enough to cover miles of Africa. Most likely the slipspace rupture caused a majority of the elevator to fall. Also contrary to what most people believe, New Mombasa is still partially intact during Halo 3. On the levels Tsavo Highway and the Storm, you can clearly see the New Mombasa skyline in the distance.

But how would it be a Halo game if something didn't get blown up! Lol

But there's no sense crying over every mistake.
You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.
And the Science gets done.
And you make a neat gun.
For the people who are still alive.

Maybe :S

Haha I just learned that too. I was just playing that level the other day and I was wondering what all the debris was.

Actually it could. In Ghosts of Onyx, The Space Elevator on Cuba(?) is tall enough to go into space, and large enough to have 2 Covenant Warships orbit it.

I missed it a bunch, too.

If you drive straight from the beginning with a hog full of marines, the part overlooking the African savannah (before you make a right), you'll be able to here the UNSC the clearest.

In my first playthrough of "Tsavo Highway" I drove right off that cliff XD
