He asked why in Halo 3 it is completely destroyed and in Halo 3 ODST it is not completely destroyed. Not why it was destroyed.

You can see the bottom portion from where you are in the city, which is supported with a concrete-steel base, the pieces you see on the African Savanah are the higher up and atmospheric portions. Happy?

Your blood will clean the blood for now.

1 Trillion isn't that much, Mr. Obama here lets the Government spend Trillions every few months now.

I do not get why your saying this. In your first post you said that it was destroyed by the slipspace rupture, which is common knowledge, and you made it appear degrading to the OP.
EDIT: To the idiot above me. One Trillion dollars is an extremely large amount of money.

I love the entire Halo series, Halo 2 being my favorite of the games. I think that the universe is compelling and the story is deep, sweeping, and powerful. The hidden layers in the Halo trilogy and rich details of the backstory in the novels are something I love to be lost in, and im greatly looking forward to the story that Halo: Reach will weave. Bungie has carefully and lovingly crafted a mythic tale that will stay etched in my mind until the end.

Alright so in various trailers of gameplay we've seen for ODST the Space Elevator in New Mombasa is still mostly in-tact and whole. BUT in halo 3 THE WHOLE space elevator has been blown to bits and scattered across the African Savana. So im thinking we will have to blow up the space elevator or something else will blow it up. Just speculation.

Please explain what the Space Elevator is?

The elevator that goes into space. One of six on Earth at the time of Halo 3, and the one he is referring to is located in New Mombasa.

Oh, Okay thanks. Aren't they trying to make an actual space elevator in real life?

People have been trying to design a realistic one, but one of the main boundaries is the cost, which could be over 1 trillion dollars.

Edit to person above me: He is saying that it is completely leveled in Halo 3, but in ODST there is still a portion of it standing.

yea but you never see a single city in Halo 3, so how would you even know?

What?

Back.. and to the left.
Back.. and to the left.
Back.. and to the left.
Back.. and to the left.
Back.. and to the left.
Back.. and to the left.
Back.. and to the left.

It just needs to be slightly messed with. Gravity takes care of the rest.

I would recommend NOT talking about politics here. I'm not going to report you, but someone will.

Remember that huge tower in the middle of New Mombasa in Halo 2? That's the Space Elevator. In Halo 3 on Tsavo Highway you can see the pieces of it everywhere, and it burns in Halo 3: ODST.

if they want war.............. we´ll give them war

an old men said: in peace sons bury there fathers but in war fathers bury their sons

The space elevator get's destroyed when truths carrier jumps, I have proof. In the ODST opening scene you see just when the carrier jumps that the elevator is bending under the force of the rupture.

linkt to the cutscene http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FUycqCtuCbE

you have to watch at 3:28

New theory. Dare betrays the Orbital Elevator.

  • 07.02.2009 3:17 AM PDT

why are you looking at this?

the spae elvator gets destroyed (partially) from the slipspace rupture from regrets ship, the rest of it gets torn down by thruth when he starts digging in the ruins to find the portal

  • 07.02.2009 3:42 AM PDT

My troll sense is tingling.

I hope we see it collapse in game and not in a cut-scene.

Would you dance for it?

The space elevator is gigantic. Based on the condition of it in the background picture for the website, I would say there is more than enough of it missing to account for all the debris in Halo 3.

Think of how awsome a mission would be where you have to outrun the fallinf debris?

Like the Warthog run in Halo: CE but better.

That reminds me of the old Crash Bandicoot games from the first Playstation. That could be a cool mission though.

I would say that the bottom was still intact and still supported by the solid part of the space elevator, however the other top and middle portion was most certainly destroyed and scattered across africa and the ocean.

It probably just falls down in the next invasion or fights going on or like already said the fire makes is gall down. :)
