Subject: ODST will be worth the money based on the fact...

ODST will be worth the money based on the fact that I just realized today alone i played halo for around 5 hours.

I know this sounds weird, but in reality, even if ODST were 2 hours long (i know it's not, but theoretically), I'd still probably play it at least several times (well, if it were 2 i'd probably play if more than if it were 10, but youget what I mean). And the key is that it's not like playing a typical game over again, it still feels enticing to play (assuming odst has the replayability of other halo games)

And then firefight will undoubtly something that I'm able to play for hours on end. Whether that's 20 hours only or for as many as I've played Halo 3's multiplayer, it doesn't matter. Halo 3 gave me way more than $60 out of it.

So you know, while I don't think it'll be as good as a value as halo 3 was (i'm excluding the halo 3 mp as I already have it), really, how is it not going to be worth $60?

It's almost like the fighters arguement in a way, although granted there's a ton of more contet in odst than typical fighters, but still, the point stands. (the arguement is that you can quite literally blow through fighters main thing in usually less than 20 minutes). The reality however is that you'll probably play it over multiple times and it'll still feel fresh.

To be honest, the majority of the Halo 3 population do not play Campaign. And those that do only play it once for the achievements.

If you were to announce on XBL that ODST doesn't come with it's own multiplayer, they would whine about it.

Bungie is making a good move on not telling everyone about the lack of multiplayer.

They've told us several times. You'd have to completely ignore the forums and weekly updates not to know about it.

Does anyone even look at these?

Of course it's worth the money. It will be 2020 and I will still be playing this game.

i think this is gonna be worth it if you are a true halo diehard fan so far you have only truely been able to see through the eyes of the already battle hardened and suped up spartan we all know as John 117 or Master Chief, where as now they are broadening the horizon i mean have you ever wondered what will happen know that the elites are free and the covenant are still around we have only turned there armadas into disorganized and possible guerrilla efforts at reclaiming power i like to be broad in my thinking lol

Haters are going to hate.
Praisers are going to praise.

The Bungie Forums are what keeps my mind sharp and my fingers active, between writing my own movie scripts, drawing, and studying industrial design. At the moment I'm working on miniatures for a short movie that I'll hopefully be able to film once I've saved up for a camera... That's me, with the mug, trying to have a conversation with Konoko.

I can only speak for myself, but judging by the amount of time Ive spent with the previous Halo games, I would gladly have payed the double. Oh wait, I did pay the double, I bought the bloody Legendary edition!

Well, if that majority were about 96% of the Halo 3 population, I would belong in the other 4%. I play Halo for the campaign, not the multiplayer (though I will play split-screen Slayer).

Yes, It is quite shocking. However if you went on XBL and asked a couple of strangers (like how I've done numerous times) if they are aware that ODST will not come with it's own Multiplayer, you will see that a large percentage of them did not know this beforehand.

Their reactions differentiate but I can predict that they won't be positive.

It will be worth the money. After micro$oft made in $60, Bungie put more content in it so it would be a fair price and i trust bungie enough to pay $60 for one of their games

I think it will be worth it for FireFight alone. That's pretty much the whole reason I'm buying it.

What?
1. Bungie said the campaign was originally 5 hours but now it is larger.(7-8 hours.)
2. What about Firefight? Personally I will get months of play from that.
3. And then there's the multiplayer. All the maps from the original + DLC maps + New Mythic maps.(not huge but then they can still play against people without ODST most of the time.)

Not worth it. There isn't much new content to justify a $60 price tag.

New content

-Campaign side-story/extension/expansion
-Firefight
-Mythic Part 2

I bet you that the game was going to be a lower price, but then they added Halo 3's multiplayer just to jack up the price. Now, keep in mind, that the multiplayer will be two years old by ODST's release.

So no, three new things do not justify a $60 price tag.

NY Giants
Miami Heat

Of coarse it worth the money. The only other 2 games that look good are bioshock 2 and AC 2.

MWF2 IS THE WORST GAME EVER MADE!!!

I hunt for the Prophet of Contentment, the San 'Shyumm that murdered my son, and stole his birthright, his Energy Sword. They call our species Heretics. They claim to all that our tongues sting, our words a vile poison that feeds on the unworthy. I have seen the true face of Heresy. The head of a gallant warrior lay on the ground. His neck scorched and blistered, scarred by his own blade. I shall retrieve the weapon, and drive it through that bastard's heart! Punishment for his sins is nigh.

A game's price is judged by the amount of content in the game. ODST has MORE CONTENT than Halo 3. Considering it is 2 disks combined. You guys cant say "Well I already have Halo 3 and all the DLC so I shouldnt have to pay for that" because your NOT EVERYBODY.

Here’s what Luke had to say about the differences in treatment between the Spartans and Elites in Reach:

“Instead of piece-by-piece customization like the Spartans, Elite customization is a full model swap with models selected from the various Elite classes appearing throughout the Campaign. There are all kinds of reasons for this, not the least of which is our continued emphasis on the Spartan as your identity in Reach.”

Depends on how many Firefight maps there are on disk.

If there are 2, then I will feel grifted.

A fair enough point. Although, I am urged to remind you that just as the player that already has "Halo 3 and all the DLC" is not everybody, the player that doesn't have "halo 3 and all the DLC" is not everybody either.

I will disagree with your "price is judged by content" argument. This is true to some extent, however I view the work that has been put into a game as a better way to justify the pricing of a game. In this perspective, I view ODST as half the work as Halo 3.

  • 07.01.2009 1:11 AM PDT

Honestly I dont know what you americans are complaning about. We australians will be paying 100-120 tops for ODST. and thats just the genearl price of a new released game in australia. Halo 3 was $119 for the standard edition. so if you guys really want to complain go ahead, but in the long term, $60 isn't as bad as what im paying for it.
