Its more compact so it uses a smaller magazine, that's all.

The demo shows it having 3 lines of 16 rounds. 3 x 16 = 48. count it your self if you. and its not more compact, the halo 2/3 SMGs are smaller

No, the player character is smaller, therefore making everything else look larger while it is really the same size it has always been.

The Field Guide may say the M7S has 60 round magazines, but the Halo 3 manual says the M6G Magnum holds 12 rounds...so....yeah...
