Once the NXE was released, one big feature newly available to us was the option to download disks to our Harddrive. We are also aware that Halo 3 was already optimized to load data off the Drive using the disk, making load times slower if downloaded on the HDD.

My question to you is, Will Halo 3: ODST be optimized to load from the hard drive like its relative, or will the option to download the disk be available to us?

Because ODST is using the Halo 3 architecture I would assume that the NXE "problem" is still an "issue" but considering that the new multiplayer of ODST is strictly co-op the effects of longer load times after playing another game won't be as harmful to the mulitplayer experience because you are just annoying 3 of your buddies rather than up to 15 other matched players.

So, with that, even if the ODST disk has not been designed to run better with NXE, feel free to still download that disk onto your hardrive because any ill effects will be localized.

They said in one of the weekly updates that the first disk has been optimised for hard drive use, but the second multiplayer disk will still have the same problems.

Downloading to the hard drive will work with ODST. It's been confirmed that a certain Wolf worked some magic and made it work.
