Very interesting... I'll be waiting to see how this will be used with a shooter game.

As long as it is optional and it hasn't got anything to do with gameplay I don't care about it.
Imo Natal should stay far away from hardcore games, the voice thing might be usefull for rpgs...

Like I said in one of the other Natal threads, I personally think this is a awful idea. If I want to jump around and -blam!- I would buy a Wii, I want to sit on my ass and kill bad guys. This just seems so stupid, I hope Natal isn't required for Reach, or this would be the first Halo game I would have to pass on.

Read post above you.

I did read your post, what does that have to do with anything I said. Nobody knows if Natal will be required or optional, or used at all for that matter. So I said I hope it's not required, I don't understand what you are trying to point out to me.

  • 06.29.2009 1:37 PM PDT

He's pointing out the fact that natal if implemented at all would most likely be used to toggle switches pick up items etc....NOT to have someone running around their living room pretending to hold a gun...why is everyone so scared of change ?! sometimes it's GOOD ! whenever bungie mentions any small change 99%of the forum fills with people declaring their hatred for bungie and halo and talking some BS about never playing halo which we all know is a load of crap...get over it people...you don't KNOW what they can do with natal yet and you don't even know what the game LOOKS like...so stop making assumptions and spazzing about things you know nothing about >_<

Sounds like a bunch of Justin Bieber wannabes in here. I bet you all wear skinny jeans too.

I'm a night owl myself, so If I'm going to be playing Halo it's going to be in the wee hours of the AM's before the sun's even up. So obviously I'm a bit tired and can't think all that straight, and I'll probable kill myself trying to melee someone.

Honestly, I don't think Reach should have full Natal functionality. However, it would be nice to use it for driving vehicles and such.

They could make a gun that Natal senses, it would register you pulling the trigger, performing certain actions, e.t.c.

Of course if they made a BB gun...

Also, a few of us were talking during matchmaking and Halo: Reach is definitely going to be, not a first person shooter, not a third person shooter, but a second person shooter. Bungie is going to revolutionize the way you watch other people play games.

I fear for this franchise. I suppose it can't technically hurt if Natal is only optional in the game though.

Oh dang! That man just ordered breakfast in the middle of my rap song!

I could definitely see Natal being used a supplement to FPS gameplay, and really, that's the thing about Natal and more "hardcore" games.

Sure, there'll be the Arcade or Rhythm or gimmick-type games (not a bad thing) that are "optimized" for Natal, where you use all motion-sensing all the time.

But Natal can be used in conjunction with the usual game too: gesture to interact (instead of "hold X"), crouch, etc. And you can still use the normal 360 controller. I'm glad Bungie's expressing an interest in Natal; I just read a hands-on preview of it and it's really looking great.

As long as there's still support for a controller, it can't hurt even if it sucks. And if Bungie put it in, it wouldn't suck. So, yeah, I'd love to see it.

things like natal need more work for fps games. we would need a full surround tv and what would essentaly be a treadmill. when we have those. halo+natal=good
its too early but i would love to see a game that can do that early by coming up with some way would be a good way for bungie to complete step 7

I have to agree with this.

Loyalty is all I have.

Change happens people, if it does happen then it would probably use the voice and facial recognition. It doesn't have to be a full motion sensing game.

WHO WAS RIGHT NOW? My thread was one of the first to suggest this idea. and Everyone said it wasn't possible/dumb idea. But NOW who was right?

  • 06.29.2009 2:35 PM PDT

I think it would only be optional. Forge... That would be awesome.

And for simple things, maybe driving vehicles? You could use the remote as the steering wheel?

  • 06.29.2009 2:37 PM PDT

What spectagon are you in?

i don't think it will be compatible because we know how secretive bungie are i doubt they would just say it like that. I think he's just saying he likes it and it could be compatible with reach but isn't.... we'll just have to wait and see.

Warning: You may find that my, or someone else's opinion does not comply with yours. Side effects of disagreement may include (but are not limited to): flaming, irrational behavior, broken keyboards, and/or nervous sweats. If you experience any of these symptoms refrain from communicating with others until the symptoms have subsided.

I don't understand why, as soon as Natal is mentioned, everyone assumes that it will be used for full functionality.

Everyone sits on their couch and try to dodge gun fire without Natal think of it like that only your actually leaning to dodge the fire like in the video shown.

All the playability of Halo with the controller, plus some optional motion and/or voice controls.

I hope Bungie takes Natal and uses it to their advantage in a quality gaming experience.

FPS games can't work with Natal.
Did Microsoft Confirm this or are you just guessing?

this is a bad idea. even if it was just for navigating the menu it would force you to put you controler down and wave your arms around. I really can't see this work out at all for any game let alone halo.

I really hate how everyone is saying Natal is going to suck, "I DON'T WANT TO MOVE MY ARMS, BAWWWWWW" This proves how lazy the average gamer is. I am in love with this idea. As long as it's not put into matchmaking.

My money is on Natal being Halo: Reach compatible, meaning you would be able to navigate the menus and such, but I highly doubt it will be used for game play purposes.

Agreed. I don't think a year is enough time to get natal ready and smooth for an FPS game, if it's ever ready and smooth for an FPS game.

  • 06.29.2009 2:52 PM PDT

What will this mean 4 the Reach beta we need 2 buy Natal 2 use it? Cause that is just wrong

They could use natal for leaning to avoid bullets and steering, and throwing grenades and look in any direction. Everything else could be used with the controller. All the natal actions wouldn't need to make you drop the controller. That sound like a good idea

you would have to put the controllers down to throw grenades, slows down gameplay
