Subject: MLG in Reach

I hope not. Im not MLG but I don't think they suck. MLG is apart of what makes H3 a pain in the blam! Not to discredit the origional MLG players, I think they are deserving of their title but these little wannabe gammers who pose as "the best" and then quit are annoying/hilarious to say the least. Anyway I think MLG should keep their community but scratch the open playlist in Halo Reach. What do you think?

Just because most kids who play MLG like it, does not mean we are MLG wanabees, I love the MLG playlist, I play it for fun, but it is so competitive which gives you a wierd, unusual adrenaline rush. Maybe the people you play with POSE as MLG. If a person in a fake police uniform walked up to you and put you under arrest and stole your wallet, does that mean the police department would get shut down?

No it just means the police department has to take certain measures to insure the publics trust in them. Same thing I suggest the MLG do before their reputation becomes tainted or irreversibly damaged.

By TAKING OUT, MLG: MLG will not have a Halo reputation, there is no point to that.

I didn't say take it out. I just said that they should find a way for that playlist to become better. They ARE prided on being the best of the best.

As long as Halo isn't designed with MLG in mind, I don't give a crap if they have a presence when Reach launches.

The playlists are fine, it's not going to magically make douches nicer.

I agree I like mlg (I play it a lot in custom games) but its those smack talkers in the playlist that turn me off of it.
I think there needs to be a playlist like this in reach though because its what separates the harcore-i-wanna-get-my-50 guys from the rest of the crowd

  • 06.29.2009 3:41 PM PDT

Check out the group, Planet Reach and talk about Bungie's next game without the annoyance of the public forum. Oh and it's nice there too.

You thought you had lag, it took Jesus 3 days to re-spawn.

I don't understand the hate for certain things/groups in Halo. Why hate an entire group because of "wannabes"? If they're wannabes and not actually a part of that group then why hate the group? Hate the wannabe trash talkers, but don't hate MLG. They have their niche playlist and it doesn't ruin the rest of the game.

Don't be so moronic over something so small. If there is a way in Reach to tailor the game towards the MLG crowd then by all means they have the right to do what they want. And if enough people want a playlist, that doesn't hurt either. No one forces you to play it. I don't play it because there is too many people who make new accounts just for that playlist. That's my choice.

And all this coming from someone who doesn't necessarily like the way the MLG game is played. It just doesn't affect the overall population enough for me to care.

The playlists are fine, in fact they are the best cuz Halo 3 is the best but there is always room for improvement. Besides, its a new game. Hopefuly they bring back the same kick-blam things that made H3 great but add new things and tweak the little mishaps that show up in Halo 3.

I don't play MLG but even the fake MLG wannabes are much better than all the whiny casual kids crying because they are no good. The real MLG is a respectable community of hardcore gamers.

  • 06.29.2009 3:48 PM PDT

When halo 3 was first released there was no MLG playlist, it was added just for the people who asked for it... Bungie rightfully caters to their fans...

  • 06.29.2009 3:49 PM PDT

Note that the 'MLG wannabe's' aren't in any way associated with MLG. I don't really like competition, but the actual MLG people seem to be a nice bunch.

Anyway, as the core gameplay mechanics aren't changed to suit that style of competitiveness, then I'm fine with it. Live and let live right?

I find it pretty funny that so many of you blame MLG on the -blam!-s that populate MM, when in reality it has almost nothing to due with MLG. Regardless of MLG, there would've have been the idiots and -blam!-s that come into games and give people crap. Even if MLG doesn't support Reach, there's still gonna be over competitive dicks that can ruin the game for some.

I feel your pain, man. Every day I watch good threads sink to the back pages of this forum in favor of spam, trolling, and crap topics.

I really hope if the game is anything like any of the other halos then there will be an MLG or Hardcore type playlist... its a game where 2 teams fight to try and be the best, have some fun, and win or lose...anything like that will be appealing to MLG and its fans.

I agree completely! Hating wannabes and trash talkers is fine but why hate an entire group. Wannabe implies they aren't really part of that group. If you think about it, the hate makes no sense what-so-ever.

I kind of like the way things are now: Bungie designs their game to be fun for anyone and everyone who wants to play. MLG finds what makes Halo a conventional shooter and emphasizes that via the wonderful custom game and Forge options. Everyone wins.

I don't think we need to worry about Bungie's motivations. Reach will be a fun game, no doubt, and it will be customizable so that anyone will be able to play it to suit their own style.

That's the way the industry is heading, and Bungie is at the forefront of that.
This is a great explanation of what I think Bungie will do if Reach is still a FPS like Halo 3. Bungie doesn't have to stick to the status quo of the Halo trilogies.

I would definetely prefer if there was'nt an MLG playlist.I would much rather prefer a hardcore playlist with no radars but not like an MLG playlist with all the randoms talking smack.

I don't see as many disgruntled players on other game forums. Hmmmmm
Some people take Halo too seriously and have dropped the fun.
Thank god they are the few.

What's the difference? People talk -blam!- EVERYWHERE, just moreso in ranked than in social. The name of the playlist doesn't matter.
