Subject: Project Natal = Fail

Posted by: SMG bonehead
i just dont think project natal is something that would be good with a FPS i could understand maybe and MMO or somin but i think i would take the fun right out of halo

What? You don't think dirving a Warthog turning a controller would be cool?

  • 06.29.2009 3:11 PM PDT

Ok heres my opinion. If they did integrate natal into halo: reach they would need to fully integrate it of not do it at all. Because if they make it so use natal just for small things like opening doors you would need to put down your controller open the door and pick up your controller again.
So they would make everything natal or nothing natal, and perhaps a choice on what you use.
(Although in multiplayer the people using controllers would have the advantage)
Also this would cost a lot of money maybe double the cost of a normal game. I also saw someone posted something about having a fake gun that you could use, now although that may work with natal it would also cost around $30 (the wii zapper cost $30)

To summarize
-it would be all or none
-it would cost a lot

The only way I see natal working is for head movements

heg heg herg herg.

It would be a huge mistake on Bungie's part, they would probably loose every veteran fan.

Natal isn't 'fail'. It doesn't really belong with FPS's but I think it's a neat concept. Also from the Halopedia link, it said that Natal will enchance the gameplay. That means it isn't necessary.

While I agree, As long as it is optional I don't care. But if it is necessary, Look's like I'm buying a vision camera.

they never said it would be optional and the natal comes with a camera built in

I started out with nothing, and I still have most of it.

Nice for a short time sure, but when you're getting killed over and over by players with the easier, faster and more practical controller, patience will be at an all time low. That's a definite guarantee.
If anything, the history of gaming has taught us that the faster and more practical form of controls will always, ALWAYS be the most popular. Especially with online gaming.

If it REQUIRES "Natal" then I am not buying it. I will be okay if they at least give us the option of using a regular controller instead of a stupid gimmick.

Most humans fear the thing that is the most consistant in life, change. The Catholic church condemned Newton for saying the Earth is not the center of the Universe. Video games are changing people. Get used to it.

And So Forerunner And Flood Became One.

I dont know if its going to be a fail or not.But they will obviously make a controller option. Why cut off the controller system so soon? If project natal does work and everyone is head over heels for it then maybe itd take away the controller option.

If it features Natal "optional" or otherwise I won't buy the game.

If by "afraid" you mean, afraid that this will be the death of good FPS games then the answer is yes.

Ya know what would be awesome? A machinima mode. Where your body actually controls the motions of the spartan, so that you can make better more detailed machinima.

It would be like a gametype or something.

How to spell "space"?

S-P-ACE! SPACE!

Bungie won't do it. Natal won't be a single new controller, it's not for FPS games.

  • 06.29.2009 5:43 PM PDT

project natal would be amazing with halo. of course, bungie would need to keep the standard controller based system too. (u still need something to throw when u get killed by a noob that camps with the sword) (lol)

You are judging way too quickly on two ends. First, you do not know the capabilities of Natal. Secondly, you do not know what Halo: Reach will be like at all.

The FPS does not, not need Natal. Natal would most likely not take the place of the standard controller. You'd still be able to sit down and play, but you might use it to bring up menus with the flick of a wrist, or toss a grenade with a nonchalant toss.
A melee might be a quick jab towards the screen like everyone does anyway. The possibilities are endless, so why would you be content with what you have. a few years ago, something like this was almost impossible to conceive and here you are bashing it as useless.

I'm more interested in true virtual reality than a cheap Microsoft product. It might be fun for family games, but FPS would be a fail. Hardcore Halo fans will protest Natal until the end.

I'm a H.H.F. but I personally think Project Natal can work.

Let's say you want to take a screenshot. Pose and click, Right?

Or create a pre-recorded death animation (of course, approved by bungie first) for your Spartan/elite.

Mabye you could use it to simulate head movement while talking or looking around, adding emotion and making it look just that more realistic.

Perhaps there are interactive parts in the game?

What about Doing Spartan II/ III or other Personnel Hand signals?

Or you just want to aim your gun in style (probably for a short period of time, if not all the time)

You would most likely have to use some, if not all, of Natal.
