Subject: Original Sniping-Style?

Hey,
I was wondering if anyone out there had an original "sniping style" that they invented or perfected. Not merely close-combat, no zoom sniping. But rather tricks that you have learned, or a certain way that you pull your shots of. Im just wondering whether there are inventive people out there who have any pearls of wisdom to share.
Thanks in advance,

Master jump-sniping. Especially jumping while strafing, then getting another shot off as you hit the ground and crouch and come up for another jump. Invaluable on all sniper rounds, as no one else can really hit you.

Usually I just run up to the other base, go up top in BG, and snipe people no zoom - if there's another sniper I hit the cliffs.

when you jump and snipe, press tha crouch button as many times and as fast as you can, it makes it harder to hit you.

take your time to get your aim down. It can hurt you if you miss all 4 shots in your clip, you're reloading, and the other guy has you in your sights.

I always watch the tanks, hogs, or n00btubes, and when they just climb into it/pick it up, i snipe their head off. It really pi$$es people off.

Sniping isn't a skill, it's an art. Pistol sniping. I snipe people with the pistol all them time easily. Practice makes perfect. don't jump all the time, but it can give you a better angle. move around, up and down, through door ways, behind cover. Take your time aiming, don't rush. The most important thing I have to say is keep your head. If you get all excited, panicky, adreneline rushed, your sniping will go down the drain most of the time. Although some times it makes you better. Like today, I was on longest and i got a double killtacular. Too bad i wasn't recording.

I absolutely agree with you that sniping is an art rather than a skill. So I made this topic to see what kind of art forms there are out there. See where mine is similar and where my technique is different. Everyone's sniping style is different, so I was just asking people to share their own unique brands.

learn the side-step-crouch-and-jump style. It'll go a long way in improving your reaction time to an enemy closing in.

If you fire all 4 shots, press melee when he puts the clip back in the gun, it saves time.

i've said this before, and i'll say it again. when you get good enough to get a headshot on demand, fire three shots at you enemy, missing each time, of course, just to freak them out, and finish off with a nice clean headshot. not a good idea, but it's fun to see them squrim like mad and then say "lucky shot" when you kill them. then as they finish typing, another headshot heads their way.

ok, so it's not a good idea, but as i said, it's fun

He's saying that backpacking makes it faster. If you melee, throw a grenade, or switch weapons as soon as he puts the clip in the gun, its reloaded but you don't have to wait for the animation to finish to fire.

thats not backpacking tho, backpacking is press reload twice, then quickly change weapon
Wait for the sound to finish an its reloaded
eg
Duel: use ure pistol in a duel, run out of ammo in the clip, reload reload switch to AR, AR noob about for a bit, when u run out switch back to pistol, voila, pistol reloaded

As for the sniping skills, you should make use of the fact that its only ur crosshair where the bullet goes...you dont need ur entire zoom mask clear, as long as ur crosshair has a clean path to the enemy u can hide/strafe round loads of objects...and dont jump and not fire..if you jump, fire at them for gods sake, even if u dont hit them its more offputting to know that ure confident enough to try it lol...and besides, if anyone jumps and doesnt shoot, they just get shot out the sky, and called a nub bunny hopper rofl ^_^

The pressing melee after putting the clip back in the gun thing saves 0.3 seconds -ONLY ON YOUR 4TH SHOT BECAUSE HE HAS TO -blam!- THE TAB.

Is it possible to sweep-snipe in halo pc? Because it's possible in halo 2. And i was experimenting in halo CE on xbox, and it seemed to work, maybe it was just luck though. But does anyone know if it or a similar technique work on PC?

You can sweep snipe, but the mechanics aren't the same. On the Xbox there is auto aim so the crosshairs slow down while on the enemy so it's easier to kill them. On PC there is no auto aim. Sweep sniping is just another style, nothing different from other styles from the game mechanics side of things.

Speed sniping on Sensitivity 10?! That's in-freakin-possible! At least if you want headshots ever time. If you're up against people of decent skill, you'll never pull that off, unless you're some sort of halo god.

Personally, at a distance I fire my shots in groups of 4 rapid shots, in a tight-ish diamond to ensure a hit (my ping is so high that I can't reliably snipe in a line).

Always keep moving even if you think you don't need to. Because when you stop, there will inevitably be someone behind you just waiting for that shot. Jumping is good, but overdoing it just makes it hard to shoot and adds predictability to your strafe, which is ALWAYS bad.

I play on 8.

Don't stop moving. Ever. Not just in combat, but if you snipe someone from a hiding place, find a new one. One shot; One kill. Tracers betray you.

My sens is 10, has been since the good old days of xbox, i can speed snipe fine, why did you say it was impossible? I can do it, and I get headshots all the time.

i'd i have to say don't be a hero trying to go for a headshot, 2 shots to anywhere on the body will suffice.

Thats asuming they don't headshot you first. If you see them, they might be able to see you...Always go for the head.

I'm assuming by some of your previous posts that you're an Xbox player, right? Because if you are, that would explain the consistent headshots during impossible strafes.

If you're a PC player, I'd like to meet you sometime...
