Guys if Halo Reach uses Natal, it doesn't mean your forced to use it. You can still use your controller to play it....unless if Bungie makes it so your forced to use natal.

Yeah exactly if they do somehow add natal it'd be optional in like campaign probably or something like that stop worrying that your gonna have to look like a dumbass pretending to hold a gun

Its simple business guys.. What would allow for the most sales? A game with Natal, a game without Natal, or a game where Natal is optional..? Its easy. In order to make the most sales AND keep customers happy after purchasing it, they need to implement Natal but as an optional attachment. I.e. have certain interfaces within the game that you can use Natal with but not require one to purchase it to play the game.

Microsoft is the chief financier and will make these decisions based on what will make them the most money. Well, people who buy the controller only version of the game will be happy that they got their beloved Halo game just the way they like it. But being avid Bungie fans, they will want to see what all the hype about Natal is and will want to use it in the game to get the full experience Reach has to offer. Whats better for M$ than to get customers to buy not only one of their games, but a new piece of hardware that goes with it while at the same time keeping EVERYONE happy.

Make sense?

As for campaign vs multiplayer:

Solution: Allow for Natal to be used in Campaign and optional in Multiplayer.

Campaign: Like you guys mentioned.. use it for switches, pickin up things, opening doors, whatever.. I think it would be too slow to use it for actual movement. (Watching the demo there was too big of a lag difference between live movement and player movement... wouldnt be able to dodge fire very well)

Multiplayer: Use controllers for MM. There is too big of a competitive following for Halo and Bungie knows this. Yeah, a lot of people play for fun.. but a lot play for the competitiveness. They will not disregard their success in this field. For people wanting to just play for fun, have a setup where they could use natal if they wanted. It may seem they have a disadvantage at first (learning to use it) but once comfortable with it, who knows? (bumper jumper..?)

Good point, and at least you took the time to think that through instead of most people here.

I think people are just mad because they dont want Halo to become gimmicky or noob friendly. Even if it is optional, and it will be, it can still feel like Natal is bringing the game down.

Even optional Natal would dumb down the game into an even more casual experience. I don't want that.

Yeah, look how much it hurt the Wii, how dare anybody else put stupid UNPOPULAR motion sensing into their games.
Heavy sarcasm intended. Realy, if it is optional then there is nothing to cry about. People are just afraid of change. Plus I think a lot of people forgot about the facial and voice recognition of natal, wouldn't it be cool to issue orders to your squad, and have them recognise you by your face? But then that would dumb down the game now wouldn't it? lol

Maybe I will never be
All the things that I wanna be
But now is not the time to cry
Now's the time to find out why
I think you're the same as me
We see things they'll never see
You and I are gonna live forever

I think it would be awesome!

But the game will be made with Natal in mind, meaning it will be dumbed down. This argument holds no water just like this one:

"Dual wielding is cool but if you don't like it don't pick up another gun." -- the sandbox was nerfed to implement dual wielding, so there is no way to escape its adverse efects. Same thing if REACH is Natal-compatiible.

Ever think that Natal could be Campaign only?

But campaign and multiplayer have the same gameplay. Or this could be different in REACH and SP has different gameplay than MP, but that doesn't change my opinion. I don't like Halo 2's and 3's campaign because of the watered down weapon functionality due mainly to the introduction of dual wielding.

Natal would have the same negative effect if it is considered for the SP gameplay for me if it dumbs down the gameplay into some Wii-type game.

EDIT: however, if it was ONLY used for things in SP that would not occur in MP (such as shaking hands with someone in an interactive cinematic or something) then I wouldn't mind.

There is NO way Natal will reach Halo. It just won't. There isn't any possible way playing an FPS could be fun on Natal. I mean seriously...

I mean what would you do?? You would just pretend you're holding a gun. But how would you get precise aiming holding nothing????

Motion sensing is terrible for video games, it makes games less fun for gamers. Just because its popular doesn't make it a good feature. The Wii is popular because it appeals to non-gamers. Lots of real gamers don't like it.

In Halo I don't want to be all tactical telling my teammates what to do and taking my time. I want the game to be fast paced and chaotic. Thats where the fun comes from.

So my opinion remains, any form of Natal is bad for Halo.

EDIT: Optional always turns in to use it or you miss out because the game was designed for it.
