I may just burst with glory juice when we see gameplay if it looks awesome.

you can't be series graphics matter just not as much

Why? Give me an actual good reason why graphics matter at all.

Well aside from graphics, Halo 3 could have been on the original Xbox. You kind of pay $$$ for the new graphics. Not to mention that is why people purchase $2000 SONY HDTVs + surround sound systems + Blu-Ray players. Graphics sell.

You are an idiot. Progress doesn't necessarily mean good, it can be bad too. Right now, many game designers are sacrificing Gameplay for Graphics, you can look at Halo 3 as an example, or GoW2. Even CoD if you want.

Halo 3 has all these textures, they ruin the gameplay and get in the way of things. Graphics don't matter at all in the realms of 3D. If a good game is 3D, it could have -blam!- graphics. And btw, you're talking Dimensions, not Graphics, that was a 2D poster, not 3D, they play completely differently.

Halo 3 has a -blam!-load of textures. Who enjoys throwing a grenade on Blackout and having the stairs bounce it back into your face? Oh yea. I guess you do, because you so enjoy watching that 'nade blow up.
How 'bout GoW2? I got it because GoW1 sounded like fun, but guess what? The majority of Gears players i know enjoy the first one more. Why? The graphics were worse, they spent more time developing the gameplay, the multiplayer, etc.
Or how about CoD? The majority of the people i know who played it, WORSHIPPED the 2nd one. They said the rest couldn't compare. My friend's even went out and bought it for the 360 after playing CoD4 & CoD5.

Graphics don't matter at all. Some of the most popular games in the world have -blam!- graphics. To name a few; Pokemon, Pac-Man, CounterStrike, Early Final Fantasies.

Go somewhere where your stupidity will be worshipped.

Call of Duty 4 sold a ton more copies. Please don't try and convince us that COD 2 is more popular.

I found this yesterday. I would personnally like to see graphic a bit more comparable to the cryengine 2, but I think I'm demanding too much. :)

A few job sightings reveal that Bungie is indeed building up a force that works to code and implement a new experience in the Halo universe.
The role of the senior artist/3D Hard Surface Artist shall be working on " to develop a visually-inspired AAA title" the post of a Senior Engine Programmer will " build an Engine to both create great games and also power the biggest slingshot in human history."

You know for Halo: Reach they are using a new engine right?

Got Proof?

Well let's see.
They have been working on Halo Reach since 2007.

It has been stated by many Bungie employees at E3 that Halo 3:ODST will be the last game to use the Halo 3 engine.

It wouldn't take Bungie 3 years to make a game on the same engine as Halo 3.

That was posted on Skoar, not exactly trusted information.

Anyways, the real thing is that Bungie said Haloe :ODsT was the last game on the old engine.

If they made two versions of halo 3. One with awesome next gen graphics, and one with last gen graphics. A casual gamer can barely tell the differences between these games in terms of gameplay(lets say they have different gameplay). Then they're going to pick the one with better graphics.

gow doesn't actually have good graphics, all they do is add a ton of detail to everything and it ends up looking cluttered

Cods graphics make the game look like a mess. Halo has a better feel.

Only gears 2 has insane graphics and can look good.

Halo's graphics completely suit the style of the game, the setting, etc. There's always a certain type of graphics that will match a certain type of game, if you look at it my way. I'd love for Halo: Reach to have some better graphics, but ones that will keep the feel of the game and that suit the futuristic setting of the game.

Wow, just wow. You actually think COD4's graphics are better then Halo 3?

There is no way. Are people actually blind? This is better then this? Honestly, look at the environments, look at the lighting, look at how smooth Halo 3 is.

You guys are diluted. Halo 3 has great graphics, smooth, insane environments, the right colors.

Black, brown, gray, green=/= realistic. Go outside, look around. It's colorful. Not bland.

I think that the graphics are pretty even. It depends on the type of game, once again. CoD 4's graphics are a lot sharper (when I mean sharp, I literally mean sharp. Everything looks so perfect and pointy), while Halo 3's graphics are a lot smoother.

Halo's graphics have always suited it's ... style I guess is the word ... and they've never compromised the gameplay in anyway (to which we are all thankful).

That being said, since this could quite possibly be the darker, grittier story of the destruction of humanity's last military stronghold, we could see some improved graphics on that front.

So you're suggesting a literally darker game, with darker lighting techniques, textures, etc.? Sounds pretty good to me.

We're talking about Reach, but it also does fit ODST if you think about it, supposing from the trailer which showed a stormy environment.
