Subject: do you think Bungie made the right choice by takeing away the BR?

I'm the cult of personality,
I call it like i see it, if i feel the need to be blunt and to the point, then i will, if i feel the need to be very detailed, i will, im here to stay and im here to do things my way, if you respect that or not is your choice, not mine,
and don't worry, while i don't agree with everyone's opinion, i do respect everyone's opinion.

Death to rank junkies.

Yes. That gun took no skill to use and was overpowered. People used it way too much.

I came i say i owned.

Battle Rifle have no place in early halo games just keep this is before they were thinking about using scopes on rifles and half of the halo players would use it for for no skill up close kills anyway good choice to remove it.

Do you think Bungie made the right decision to take away the search bar?

Because it's obviously missing, why else would someone create a topic 1,000+ people have already created?

Check out the group, Planet Reach and talk about Bungie's next game without the annoyance of the public forum. Oh and it's nice there too.

You thought you had lag, it took Jesus 3 days to re-spawn.

Opinions are a trait of the weak.

Get out of here with your crazy ass opinions. =]

Sometimes bungie sacrifices weapons, in halo 2 the pistol and assault rifle, and in halo 3 the brute plasma rifle, and they brought back what looked like the halo 1 pistol at least i think it was but it was much weaker. Its ok at least its still in halo 3.

I never used it in campaign so it doesn't bother me, but the pistol looks better for the grunts and jackals.

No, The Halo 3 Magnum is completely different from the Halo: CE Magnum. They're bring back the original for ODST, though. (As well as the Brute Plasma Rifle)

Nothing personal...

The Battle Rifle is just a glorified bullet-hose anyways, and in it's place we get a beastly handgun.

What's not to like about that development choice?!

I happened to like that "glorified bullet-hose." It doesn't ruin the game for me not to have one, but the fact that they left in the Carbine and took out the BR just seems kinda wrong to me...

Does anyone even read these?

We seem to have a new Pistol, it has the same zoom as a BR and it seems to be just as effective as a BR. Holey moley it's a BR!

This is a campaign only game, the Jackals need their rifles so the can terrorize the streets of New Mombasa.

If I was in a room with justin Bieber, Bin Laden, Hitler and a gun with two bullets I would Shoot Bieber twice.

The game takes place 6 hours after the drop (Less than that in the flashback missions) which takes place like, 30 seconds after the Master Chief blew up the Scarab in Halo 2. In the Halo Canon, it makes no sense for the BRs to all suddenly disappear. Did they all go on vacation or something? I mean, at least make them rare or hard to find or something.

Aesthetically it also looks kind of stupid having ODSTs running around using a Sidearm as their primary weapon. If it were a Rifle with the same rate of fire, etc, then I wouldn't be that bothered. But Bungie are obviously trying to please the fans of the M6D with this.

I tried to smoke some hash, but the corned beef wouldn't light!

I think.... yes. That doesn't mean I dislike the BR.

Hell yes. Making a weapon that could strip shields away and headshot really well was a bad idea. With it removed you will be forced to use a combination of weapons, and not just keep a BR with you at all times and use little else. And with the amount of BR's that Bungie put in campaign, many people do go through using nothing but a BR.

Opinions are a trait of the weak.

But if you don't have an opinian then what makes you different.
But anyway, i think it was smart to take out the BR because it was the only way i could kill a chieftain easily.

"YOUR DESTRUCTION IS THE WILL OF THE GODS, AND WE ARE THEIR INSTRUMENT."

They might be preparing us for Reach, where chances are there will not be a Battle Rifle.

Hello! I'm a male!

awww i don't care isn't a vote choice ='(

  • 06.30.2009 4:09 AM PDT

what do you mean "took no skill to use" the BR was three bullets of pure skill, sure the weapon is OP, at a certain range, but once you step inside or outside that range it becomes overpowered by other weapons, exactly the way the game is meant to be, BALANCED! and with the new superpwnage pistol they have to take away the BR or the game will be UNBALANCED! so yeah in story line the move makes no sense but in terms of gameplay it seems a very logical choice....but i do love the BR... and it is kind of a shame to see it go :(

Nihilism (from the Latin nihil, nothing) is a philosophical position that argues that existence is without objective meaning, purpose, or intrinsic value.

Put simply in the words of Nietzsche as "the will to nothingness".

Well if there was no dual wielding then wouldn't the magnum become almost completely worthless? Is a battle rifle even necessary when we have this scoped magnum that fills that role already? Granted having special forces running around with handguns is kind of a retarded concept, what are they police, feds or something?

Everytime I have seen ODSTs they were more than likely carrying battle rifles. Here's hoping now that the battle rifle is gone the assault rifle will behave more like an acusual assualt rifle not another bullet hose sub-machine gun.

Still, I am loving the coup-de grace effect of stripping the enemies shield then cracking a headshot with a silenced magnum.

Edit: The battle rifle does take skill to use, like a couple of other weapons. Pulling off the perfect 4 burst shot everytime for instance, instead of the usual 5 or 6.

O hai, can I haz autograff?!?

As much as I like the BR I would love it if they took it out of MM altogether, not only campaign and firefight.
