I'm glad these forums are overrun with graphics discussions as they really shouldn't be the centerpiece of a game, but I feel like, you know, we could have maybe just one.

So just curious, but how good do you hope Halo: Reach looks?
I think most people were in some way disappointed in how Halo 3 looked graphically. Granted, it didn't look bad once we came to realization and it's still a pretty good looking title, but overall, it wasn't a graphics king of sorts. That being said, there was a great attention to detail. On the opening of tsvao highway alone--> the space elevator scattered through the savannah and you can look back and see the crow's nest mountain opening smoke rising.

Anyway, I dunno why but i'm going to be optimistic, although realistic as well here.
I want Halo: Reach to look as good as the Halo 3 teaser trailer. I personally think it could be done. Granted, it'd have to be considered one of the better looking titles, but considering Bungie got crap from halo 3 from some people for its graphics and that halo 1 and 2 were really the best looking games when they came out and the potential of a new engine, perhaps it could be done.
I also want more inspired designs. I don't want to be battling on a pretty much wide but bland savannah. I want more so military, forerunner, and covenant settings. Outside of the cities, Earth isn't that interesting by comparison when not looking at the forerunner stuff.

I want it to look real. I want the Covenant to look like real terrifying alien invaders. I also want to see some gore.

Why don't you level 50's out there, when you finally decide to apply for colleges...why don't you put that you were a level 50 on your application. And put it on your job resume, too. See how much it matters, and how much people care.

i could really care less. they could use 8-bit graphics and as long as it was a fun game it wouldnt matter.

Gameplay comes first (hopefully its more like H1 than H2/3) but I do want to see a significant graphics improvement. You know the improvements made from Halo 3 to Halo 3 ODST? I want minimum twice as much imrpovement made added onto ODST's graphics upgrades.

But realistically it should be way better than even that. I would like to see more realistic damage systems:

Gore -- blood splatter on walls should be realistic (see: CSI), not splotchy. Dismemberment for some of the larger weapons on smaller foes in SP, and even some for MP (sniper would blow off the top of the head, plasma melts limbs, etc.)

Destruction -- all weapons should tear out chunks of walls and floors. Break off chunks of rocks (even obliderate some?), blow mini craters into the ground with sniper rounds, melt holes into walls with plasma, etc.

Atmosphere -- an overall more gritty atmosphere. Keep all of the colors, but make them less vibrant, and make the scars of war much more apparent. H1 had a great atmosphere, but everything seemed too bright in H2 and 3. Also, less marine allies, and less marine jokes (most of them aren't even funny anymore).

This. I've always wanted to see a darker Halo. It seems weird, even though it is humanity's last stand Halo 3's look take away from that . But yes gameplay before graphics.

Go Rams and Missouri!

I want it to look beautiful. You can say what you want about Halo 3's graphics (which I believe are on par with CoD4's due to the fact that Halo 3's visuals actually had depth and had to a lot more [such as explosions] for theater mode), but the game is absolutely beautiful. Take a moment to look in the backround, and you will see the beauty. Even the foreground is beautiful, and the enemies look great.
