It isn't a "cancel melee button". It's a freaking reload button that interrupts every first-person animation action because they were not programmed to follow through in their entirety, and the same is still existent in Halo 3.Chill out dude. Jesus Christ. There is no such thing as B-RB-B in Halo 3 unless you need to reload, so its different.
I'm sorry that you find the culmination of italics and the word "freaking" so unbelievably hostile. I'll watch what I say to you from now on.
Regardless of the differences, the point is that Halo 3 recognizes it the same way that Halo 2 did. The only difference was that Halo 2 forcefully stops one action to pursue the newer one you attempted to use, whether or not it can actually be used or not. It was not leftover functionality, just faulty engineering.
As for a furtherance of the melee system, I'm actually looking for it to be downplayed across the Halo arsenal of non-melee weaponry. If you have an energy sword, or some other melee weapon (some speculate we'll see a combat knife), then sure, a multi-tiered melee system might be interesting, but I'd really hate to see it implemented with a rifle, for example.
I'd like to see Reach's melee system return to Combat Evolved's: single-melee, no lunge.
