As i see it, if they make Halo: Reach right it will be twice as big of a hit then its previous 4 games put together. No clue of Reach'es gameplay has been shown(exception being it may have natal capabilities)so they can surprise us with all sorts of features and such.
Please make sure to read the explinations carefully to see the details about each idea.

NOTE: Im not saying making it into a RPG MMO, just a huge online FPS with 50+ players

NOTE2: The armor abilitys would be more like resistences against bullets plasma or explosions and such, and i think there should be legging armor pieces as well, im surprised they didnt have it in halo 3

NOTE3: When i say more immersed NPCs i meant smarter AI and more control and commands to use on your NPC allys during fights so they arnt so useless

NOTE4: Squad control would be a great addition to the game, so you can control your sqaud of marines/ODSTs so they will finally be useful, they could put those controls onto the d-pad, left for attack(cursor would affect where/who)right for defend, and down for hold position(and they would automactically take cover and such)then the up button would be for mic

Im just going to say the kind of features id like to see put into it and explain why.(though others might have said some of these before im going to explain why it would make reach better)
First of all most of you have heard of M.A.G.'s 264 online multiplayer, i know it seems like it would lag the system so hard it would go into a coma but they have it in MAG because they know its going to work somehow, im not sure exactly if the 360 has as good of hardware that the PS3 does but even so, if they found a way to have that many people in one battle for the PS3 then the 360 can try to come close to that number, hell just 50 online multiplayer would sweetin up halo's battles dont you think? It would create a much more real "UNSC army vs Convenet army" feel of war and destruction.

Next thing id like to dicuss is the armor, when halo 3 was just starting to show peeks of different armor for everyone to chose from i was thinking the different types of armor actually affected something like explosion resistence or increased accuracy and such, but they didnt do that and they didnt even have any legging armor, if they added said resistences and skills and such it would add another level of gameplay into the Halo world, sure you could just wear the armor for looks but i think it should do more as well(like how they put pod racers in Star Wars Galaxy as just another -blam!- useless vehicle instead of a customizable racing machine).

The third thing i want to address is the NPCs. The NPCs always felt like completely useless characters during the campaign (side for having them hold certain weapons for later and useing their infinite ammo ability)BUT still they die easily and arnt used to their full potential, hell the ODSTs are no different from the marines just cooler armor, in a game like halo i want to feel the ally NPCs are needed at times, like in Star Wars Republic Commando, and not just there to die un-needlessly by the act of a grunts plasma, id like to see at least a small NPC control system like *press button on NPC, tell NPC where to attack/defend/hold position/such, if NPC(s) die have a VERY CERTAIN amount of reinforcements that drop at checkpoints to fill in dead troops (have a certain amount of troops in squad during non-solo missions)* Something like that would livin up the campaign, it could be to were the troops arnt nessicerily needed but the more you have alive the easier it would be to get through hard areas flooded with enemies that would all shoot at you if they werent there, and ofcourse the ODST's would be used for the more special/tougher/stealthier missions, or as special units you can earn maybe, i dont know.
Thats all i have right now, i was thinking maybe make the weapons customizable but id feel id be trying to rip off CoD WaW or something.

Laggen' ain't easy

I am all for your first Idea. I do not know about going as big as MAG,, but I defiantly want 50 players in one match. And with the bigger player ability it will open the road for so much things. Like the flyable pelican for example.

The second Idea just doesn't seem very Halo to me.

The NPC's in Halo has ALWAYS needed work.

Go Rams and Missouri!

MMOs don't work for the 360, I don't want that. It would completely ruin multiplayer if you could unlock better armor. Halo is meant to be fair, not Crap of Duty. No player should have an equipment advantage over another, only a skill advantage. When you say NPC's, I believe you mean more character development. Anyway, I felt it was fine. Sergeant Johnson brought a tear to my eye, and Commander Keyes had me gawking at the screen with my mouth wide open. Even in Halo 1, I was in shock when I saw Master Chief stick his hand in the skull of Captain Keyes. I feel that any more character development will make the game like GTA IV, where they had way too much of it. I mean, you shouldn't feel bad after a character you knew for 15 hours died. In Halo, they gave us 6 years from Halo 1 to Halo 3 to become familiar with Johnson, and it was as if you actually knew him. We all understood him, what he did. Throughout time we learned that he was a serious dude, who put his duty first, that he cared for others and fought for everybody else. With Commander Keyes, we had 3 years to learn how she operated, her life and motives, and she was almost an extension of Jacob, who died in Halo 1. While we weren't exactly moved by Captain Keyes, the fact that he died so early when we thought he would be a major character throughout the series was shocking, and it helped us to understand Miranda. There is no better character development than what happened with the Chief. We came to feel sorry for him, taken from a life at 6 years old to fight. Going through augmentations where he watched others die, even having to skip dinner because he didn't learn how to work in a team. He was a monster, but that was a man in that monster, as we played with him more and more, we began to understand. And his death sent chills down our spine and tears down our cheeks. It was truly the most innovative thing that any series had ever done, kill off the main character that had become not only a symbol of the franchise, but a symbol for gaming. I was actually disappointed that it ended up that he was just lost in space, drifting towards an unknown planet.

Well i was sayign that cause you know in the descriptions of the armor it says what they were designed for and such but they arnt being used that way at all, they are made only for looks, the elites dont even have hayabusa or recon armor, which is racist

I am flatterd that you botherd to look at my signature.

armor special abilitys makes things wierd and comlicated..some players will be tougher others will be faster and it would make things alot more unfair at times.

but smarter AI and big fights sound cool..

What im saying is make the armor do what it says its specified to do, protect you from certain harm
