Oh yeah It's Rayzed.

SMGs were probably already commissioned on the battlefield. They seemed more like the Navy's weapons than the ground troops weapons. The only reason you had them in Halo2 and not in Halo CE was probably because of the difference of ship stock. The ship in Halo CE was made for the Spartans so it carried Spartan oriented gear, which is why the Assault Rifle in Halo CE looked so big when carried by a Marine. In Halo 2 you are on a Human oriented vessel, so you use a SMG which is lighter and easier for troops to use.

Battle rifle (Wasnt in Halo CE)
SMG (Same as Battle rifle)

Im not sure about the weapons I picked but judging that they werent in Halo CE probably means they werent on Reach

SMG was in Halo Wars, it's the Spartan's default in multiplayer.

Spartan laser - Halo Wars
Spiker - Contact Harvest
Brute Shot - Most Likely because Spiker is in
Brute Plasma Rifle (Its in ODST) - Unkown
Gravity Hammer - Halo Wars
Mauler - Most Likely because Spiker is in
Spike Grenade - Most Likely because Spiker is in

I read contact harvest, and I thought Harvest was an isolated Brute-led battle. And for Halo Wars it depends if Bungie accepts Ensemble's addition to the Halo bible.

they already have

I consider Halo Wars at the bottom of Canon. so as long as nothing else in the series; Books, games, comics, action figures, poorly made theories, and bad -blam!-; contradict it, then it has a chance to be canon.

Why don't you level 50's out there, when you finally decide to apply for colleges...why don't you put that you were a level 50 on your application. And put it on your job resume, too. See how much it matters, and how much people care.

I would assume SMGs were there, but not in the hands of the Spartans. Most likely Marines were using them. Spartans were specially equipped with their awesome scoped pistols and assault rifles (apparently). It's not like the SMG is an especially great or technologically advanced weapon.

i think its probably not the guns them self that are what's more advanced but more the bullets and how the guns fire them.

but yeah its very likely that the SMGs were already commissioned.

they also got pistols that were supposedly stronger then the m6d when they got the BRs from the Castle Base on reach

I'm pretty sure the battle rifle was around but was only used by marksmen, not standard infantry.

The Spartans weaponry was slightly bigger and had a little more bang for the buck. The MA5B seemed more Spartan oriented due to it being bigger and having larger clip and arguably firepower than its predecessor the MA5C which is used in Halo 3. The pistol also has a modified version for Spartans. This variant is larger and has an uplink scope but can still share ammo with smaller variants. Check the ODST field guide here on Bungie for the info on the pistol.

The Halos.
If the Spike Grenades weren't used, then the Flame Grenades weren't either.
Prowlers.

I honestly think that they are going to ignore canon for the small things, like this, because any brutes will suck if they don't have most of these weapons.

  • 06.30.2009 1:38 PM PDT

I stopped reading after the first page of this thread. But Halo Wars is considered canon, and Spartan lasers are going to be in ODST so that means they were around in the Halo 2 timeline too.

Here’s what Luke had to say about the differences in treatment between the Spartans and Elites in Reach:

“Instead of piece-by-piece customization like the Spartans, Elite customization is a full model swap with models selected from the various Elite classes appearing throughout the Campaign. There are all kinds of reasons for this, not the least of which is our continued emphasis on the Spartan as your identity in Reach.”

Battle Rifle
Gauss Turret
Spartan Laser

Battle Rifles have been around since the beginning. Sarge has one on the cover of Contact Harvest.

Ugh...

First on a BWU.. yeah, I'm cool.

ODST;MYTHIC Screenshot winner! One of the first to get their hands on the mythic map pack.

Match making multi-player is not canon. So I guess they could use whatever weapon they wanted in Multi-player.

The one he is using is actually one of the very first field tested prototypes.

http://www.bungie.net/Forums/posts.aspx?postID=33630397 Check it, the Halo Canon guide.

BR's were prototypes so they were hesitant to put them out during a full scale war, plus it was hard to distribute them due to the Cole Protocol and such.

There are two things on this forum that piss me off;
Idiots and group invites.
What's even worse, is that I can never seem to get away from either of them ¬_¬

"I would have been your daddy, but the dog beat me over the fence."

Okay, all Brute weapons will not be in game. This means there will be no:
Spike
Brute Shot
Mauler
Grav Hammer
Brute Plasma
Spie Grenade

All other weapons will remeain. The argument 'They weren't in Halo: CE/Halo 2' doesn't mean crap. If it wasn't in the earlier games, it was because Bungie hadn't come up with it by then. Do you really think that because the Bttle Rifle or SMG wasn't in Halo: CE, that they only just created it when MC got back to Earth? Despite the fact that Johnson uses a BR prototype in the book Contact Harvest?

All human and covie weapons excluding brute weaponry should be in Halo: Reach, as per due the story timeline, all those weapons were being manufactured during the assault on Reach.

Mostly Brute weapons. Though Brutes were a part of the covenant, they didn't fight on the ground until the halo 2 era.
Says who?

Did you see a brute in Halo CE? The only time I remember them fighting on the ground before reach is the book Contact Harvest. The only reason that they were the ones handling the situation on Harvest is that the Brute ship was the only ship close enough to the Jackal ship to get the distress beacon. Otherwise the Elites would have been sent.
Well Thel Vadamee brought his Fleet to Halo, and his was most likely a no-Brute Fleet. The Fleet(s) that remained behind to overrun Reach could have had quite a bit of Brutes.

Go Rams and Missouri!

Just because a weapon isn't in the games doesn't mean it's not there. In truth, Bungie had not thought of it yet, but in canon, Master Chief was cut off from supplies and just didn't receive one until going to the Ark, due to the fact that it is costly to manufacture.

The spartan laser was new in halo 3, but they had them because halo wars used them and that took place 20 years prior to halo ce.

This is the statement that should be followed when deciding on whether or not specific human or covenant weapons were there.

Not being in certain games is not an arguement.
