Just wanted to add two more cents here, bullets do not affect the sound of the weapon, therefore "bullets are bullets" is an irrelevant statement. The gun, and it's barrel and fireing mechanism (pin/hammer) is what dictates the sound. That being said it comes down the guns design and the materials it's made of, including the barrel.

If the rifle has some type of internal compression (preventing you from hearing the full bang of the powder exploding) then the muffled "toy" sound you get from some of the weapons is understandable. I still personally feel that actually "real" sounding weapons would be a mistake, but they could change some of the current settings to make the AR sound a little more solid or mechanical.

They sound pretty good to me. Never once have I heard someone complain.

All I can say is bring back the assault rifle sound from halo 1 that was awesome

Yeah I know but I mean, a gun really shouldn't sound so plastic.

OP - You're a dumbass with the reading comprehension skills of a second grader.

Can someone tell me what's wrong with these two, this made me LOL hard.

Pew Pew Pew.

I dunno, that's why they have silenced weapons now.

Only if there is a suppresser on them.

I agree with you on those parts. The Assault Rifle sounds absolutely horrible. It just sounds like a bunch of vibrations, that's it.

SOUND IS JUST VIBRATIONS

sorry if someone pointed this out already but im not reading all 6 pages to see if they did

you do note that the construction of the weapon itself also influences the sound it makes. So how can you say that they sound fake when it's 500+ years in the future. I'm assuming they have ways to muffle the bangs and route escaping gases. Look at the Socom, just by looking at it you cant see that its silenced, yet it is.

When most guns nowadays are made from synthetic/composite plastics.

I think Halo's weapons sound just fine the way they are. The AR from Halo 1 does sound a little better but other then that I have no complaints.

Halo's weapons wouldn't and shouldn't sound much like weapons of today, for they might use different firing mechanisms, different materials for the weapon(The materials it is made of will affect the sound), heck they might even be using AP rounds(Yes it sounds different no matter how slightly, it is different).

Oel ngati kameie, oe omum nga, oe ’efu nga.

i laughed at most of the firsts posts i read about 500 years and sounds sound different, technically nothing makes a sound, just like technically nothing is a color, our eyes reflect light and we see that color, our ears process things and we hear it, its science and hard to explain, and before any of you flame what im saying, shut up cause my father has a masters degree in physics and biology, and a bachelors in ecology, hes a really smart man and has explained it to me, but i dont type very fast so i dont wanna type it all out.

If we are using bullets 500 years from now, I bet that the weapons would not sound so different.

500 years ago, we barely had something that could be called a gun. Today we have infra red lasers that can fry missiles in mid air, etc.

Not sounds so different, but, alas, sound somewhat different. Alteration of gun sounds FTW.

Then your father should have also explained to you that the existence of "being" is a totally different debate. Everything exists in color because we (the percievers) see in color. If our visual spectrum was black and white then the measuring standard would be different. Same goes for sound, we hear, therefore things make sounds, otherwise how could we hear. Scientists argue about theories all the time as all our knowledge is simply someones theory.

Don't come around here and bolster the knowledge of others and flail around what you were told. There are quite a few educated people on these forums, all you'll accomplish is earning the contempt of others.

The existence of "being" is all a matter of perspective.

My point exactly, which is why you always have these "great mind" spending time and resources arguing BS like if a tree falls and no one's around to hear it does it in fact make a noise, and all that crap. Sorry, just got annoyed with the bratty approach of "my dad said so, and he's smart" fromt the poster.

Not in the least, I make mistakes like any other. It wasn't what you said, it was the context in which you said it as such it is quite apparent that you are young. It's not personal as far as i'm concerned, insult me all you wish, my point was to get your focus right.

i think they should get the audio from Halo Combat Evolved. It isn't that realistic either but it's better.

  • 07.01.2009 3:51 PM PDT

At the very least.

....whut?

Due to different gun materials and munitions advancements over 500 years, the accoustics of the guns could sound much quieter and of different pitch.

That said, the assault rifle sounds like a toy.
