To Kazimar and Boot:
Guys, when posting, you two both likely knew who your adversaries' post was to, you didn't need to take up 1/4 page/posts with your overuse of the quote ability. Really, that got annoying.
Chaplain has said that a 'ninja' by today's standards is technically someone who studies the art of ninji/utsu. While not being the traditional definition, he is grammatically correct. Traditionally, 'Ninja' would be a title earned after many many years, but since there are no real feudal clans or true 'Ninja' anymore, why keep a word with a meaning that will never really be used except in the past tense? Just change 'Ninja' so that it does not carry the heavy weight it does traditionally, so that it may refer to any arduous student of the art of Ninji/utsu.
I profess my abilities in diplomacy and English, hence, I am a professor. I do not teach at a University, I am not a Doctor, or even a degree holder, yet I profess, thus I am a 'professor'. The same, any Ninja is a student of the art of Ninji/utsu. It doesn't have to mean what it used to, but we can all remember its old meaning, and know the worth of the Ninja.
Post Script: Wow Jackal, you should be banned.
It is deeper than being a ninja by grammarical standards. Martial arts is about your lifestyle revolving around it, not just training physically, but living under the values passed down from sensei/master/teacher to student. Believe me when I say, in North America, the values tought today are entirely different than those such hundreds of years ago in Japan.
Even if you study at Bujinkan, you are not a ninja. Ninja do not exist anymore, thats like saying I have made a school/academy that teaches the same discipline and fighting techniques in which was tought to the Roman Legion. Therefor I am now part of the Roman Legion because I train under the same standard. However, this is false, same as saying your a ninja because you train under Ninjutsu.
I guarentee you, none of you without going onto the internet and looking, especially Chaplain who claims to be the ninja in this thread, can tell me a brief history of how and why Ninjutsu was founded and created. First of all, no Chaplain, you are not a Ninja. You are not devoted to the art clearly, because you come on the internet to talk on forums with disrespect for other members, and hostility towards them. Once again, I don't know what is taught at your dojo, but respect, courtesy, and integrity are just as important if not more so than self defense. Someone who is devoted to an art maintains a lifestyle which revolves around it. Many, many ninja clans during feudal Japan died out many years ago. From my knowledge, there are still a small handful of these clans in Japan in present day (may or may not be true), which eveidently is not the case of Chaplain seeing as he lives in North America.
And again Chaplain, I dont know what traditions are upheld at your dojo, but just because you pass a grading does not mean your a ninja. Thats like me passing my yellow belt grading for judo and acting like I am a master of the art. Nothing personal against you of course, but from some of the posts you have made and your remarks, I can't see you being a martial artist. You have said some pretty rude and ignorant things before, and generally martial artists have more reservation towards saying some of the stuff you have. Once again nothing towards you, just judging by what I have observed.
