Recentally my halo hasnt been starting up. It would just reset once it goes full screen. So i disabled the auto reboot and it gave an BSOD saying *** STOP: 0x0000008E. that was the error no other files were listed. The ram is fine, I ran memtest86+ on it. I havent made any driver or hardware changes before this started happening. But i did notice that if i put a no-cd crack in, it would run fine. My Videocard drivers are the latest. My system specs are:

Windows XP Pro Sp2
Nvidia Geforce Fx 5500 (256 mb)
512 MB DDR Ram
Asus P4P800S Motherboard
CD Burner
DVD Burner
80 and a 160 GB hard drives

perhaps there is something wrong with your cd?

and second, how do you disable rebooting automatically on the bsod?

CD is fine, Ive used it before, and i downloaded some mini-image that's supposed to boot the game with that and it still reset/Bsod.

As for disabling the reboot all i did was:
1. Right click on my computer and hit properties
2. Goto Advanced
3. Hit Settings under Startup and recovery
4. Uncheck Automatically reset which is under System Failure

Okay after a while of Trial and Error i finally fixed it. It was actually a problem with an old version of a Virtual drive i was using, so i just had to update that and the problem disappered

I couldve sworn it was something with that SP2, theres supposed to be some sort of compatibility error between SP2 and Halo, one that made the game just close right before reaching the opening cinematics.

But if the problem's fixed, its fixed.
