I am around, 3/4 done The Fall of Reach. It is not game worthy, well, it isn't FPS worthy. I would like a new perspective to reach, not one I have read in a book.

I love the books but there are a few discrepancies between the books canon and the games canon.

I wouldn't be surprised if Bungie had moments selected from The Fall of Reach, and offered up plenty of untold battles as well.

EDIT:
Actually I didn't really care for The Flood by, William C. Dietz. At all.

i thought the flood wasnt that bad but all it did was tell halo ce with more coverage. like jenkins, the unsc base they made, what happens when a flood infects you

It seems to me that the problem is more about people not wanting to read at all, nevermind just Halo books. If that's the case, society is seriously messed up.

Alot of people just don't like to read.
Either that, or I just started reading alot early.

I remember when I was in 6th Class (everyone is around 12/13, one guy was 14).
Our homework was to read a PAGE of a book.

You know what happened? People brought in picture books.
I seriously thought that I was put into a "special" class.

Anyway, I think Reach is going to be from another perspective, like the clearing out of the fallback position, extracting Admiral Whitcomb and defense of the generators.

Edit: I thought "The Flood" was crap, except for the sub-plot. A sub-plot should not be better than the main plot.

I'm glad Bungie didn't hire that guy again.

I lol'd at the religious comment, I don't remember him "giving thanks", but that would be completely out of character.

Fortune favors the Bold

The game should be somewhat canon to the books. I'm not saying the people have to read the books, but it still should be close enough to the story

I haven't read all the books.. I read some of Fall of Reach and Ghost of Onyx and whatever i don't read books you guys forget that there making a GAME and there are people believe it or not that DONT READ THE BOOKS and still like the over all story that the 3 games tell and would like to know what happened at reach but at the same time
They can't let the game fail because they couldn't add something because there wasn't mention of it in the book or something Its a freaking game, I don't care how many books you've read the novels might be cannon but Bungie is a game company that makes GAMES not every fan wants to have to read the books to enjoy a game it shouldn't matter if you have read the books or not

First of all, use some sentence periods, they are your friend.
Second (as for the not wanting to read), it's fine if you haven't read the books. You're just missing out on an explanation of a great game that a lot of people like. Over 9 million copies of halo 3 have been sold, while only 1 million copies of all the halo books combined have been sold, so less than 10% of the halo population has read the books (rough estimate), Bungie is not going to require you to read the books to understand the game, they are going to require you to read the books to further understand the game.

The only problem I have with those who haven't read the books are when they try to make claims about the Reach stroyline when it contradicts the canonity of the books (I think that's a word).

Yeah, when people make retarded statements then say they are right when it clearly contradicts the book in a hundred ways. They could at least use Halopedia if they are too lazy to actually go read at least a small portion of the books.

Fortune favors the Bold

its going to follow the story, and if its not, then why even have the books in the first place?

To expand the canon. To expand the market.

Ugh, I agree... The Flood was one of the worst. The only one I hate more than The Flood was The Cole Protocol. Because Tobias S. Buckell was a liar. He says that he was a Halo fan, and he says in the Acknowledgments that he got to replay the series again with the excuse of it is work. Guess what, Mister Buckell? If you play Halo that much, and you are that big a fan, you should know that Grunt blood is BLUE, not PURPLE. I don't have a problem with Nylund getting that wrong, because his books do not suck.

First of all, ..periods..you can always sprinkle them in when you want OR take a really deep breathe and go for it :]???
and I haven't read the books but I have gathered all the info from the books from sources online, people that read the books and stuff like that. I mean a lot of people come up with dumb theories like any theory that has to do with the Halo 3 Planet, but what I mean is even though its likely the story doesn't have to follow the books and by that I mean follow The Red Team from the book.
