most people say never eat yellow snow... i disagree

Don't get me wrong, i am all for Halo 3: ODST and the new features and exciting new weapons and game play. but i cant help feeling a little disappointed about how there is no version of matchmaking where you play as an ODST (except from firefight). when creating a game that revolves around being stealthy and tactical you should be proud about it and cram as many new things about it. although there may be a 2% chance of there being one, it puzzles me how you arnt able to play a 16 player custom game with your friends and not battle each other with your shiny new weapons and equipment, i do understand that other people will disagree with this but i just wanted to see some feed back. so what do you think?

Well, if it was its own stand alone game, then yea. They would have developed a multiplayer, but I think ODST completes Halo 3, gives you more to the Halo series story and to help them develop Halo: Reach, cause all who buy as ODST copy, gets a beta invite.

sounds like a very good explanation, but still it should have some sort of player vs player custom game even if you don't have more game types

It would be cool, however it's an expansion for Halo 3

// UNSC Database - ODST Fire Teams • [Operation: Twilight Zone] • Mission: Classified - Fire Team Xenon...

- X10... KIA
- X25... KIA
- X51... MIA

I think it would be a good idea on Bungies part, and I'm sure they've thought about it. Who knows what they might have up their sleeves and well, even if it is just an expansion, it is still the same price for a full game.

I hunt for the Prophet of Contentment, the San 'Shyumm that murdered my son, and stole his birthright, his Energy Sword. They call our species Heretics. They claim to all that our tongues sting, our words a vile poison that feeds on the unworthy. I have seen the true face of Heresy. The head of a gallant warrior lay on the ground. His neck scorched and blistered, scarred by his own blade. I shall retrieve the weapon, and drive it through that bastard's heart! Punishment for his sins is nigh.

If ODST had multiplayer, I would want to play as a Jackal player model. Though thats not happening, so :(

Bam! Said the lady.

Halo 3 has always been in the Top 3 most played games on xbox live.

if you introduce matchmaking with ODST your in for a world of grief from fans it would require all new multiplayer maps (ODST's cant jump as high and have fall damage) ODST's dont have shields a multiplayer mechanism that bungie has been tuning since Halo 1. a spartan with no shields takes on BR shot to the face to die this would also kill a ODST effectivly making every game a variant of swat with high gravity and fall damage.

The community would be split you would have the half that want the new game mechanics and the half that still play Halo 3. halo 3 would no longer be the most played game online and your fan base is split this isnt a smart move for bungie as the following game (Halo Reach) would only be able to take one of the multiplayer paths leaving the other fans playing ODST/Halo 3 you dont want to release a new game where you placed time and effort into the multiplayer to die because half of your once mighty fan base are still playing your old games.

Alot of halo 3 sells on multiplayer if you release a version with inferior or different multiplayer people wont be as quick to jump on the day one purchase train ( or the purchase train at all) and that means your game is lacking in sales and effectivly profit

Be grateful odst didnt even have to give you firefight but the community has been asking for it since halo 2

I agree with you on the point that it would have one if it was a standalone game. But you have to relieze that originally the game was gonna be a DLC and then just turned into a standard expansion on to Halo 3.

Bam! Said the lady.

the game was never gunna be DLC and its not an expansion. bungie are TREATING it like and expansion because of the lack of multiplayer. if it was an expansion to anything it would be halo 2 as it follows the story from there but splits of to see different turn of events. im betting ODST's story would be over by the events of halo 3. if anything thats a prequel.

OK so just putting everyone's opinions in layman's terms, some people agree with me, then there is a valid response stating that you would have to make all new maps for it, and also the halo fan base would be split into smaller groups with conflicting attitudes to the new halo 3 multiplayer mechanics. and also i just so you know i am not asking for it, i am just stating my thoughts and I'm perfectly happy with the way that Halo 3: ODST is at the present moments im just adding ideas to the pool to see opinions
