Its follows the events of the Fall of Reach, but not the book... the Event. The Event, one could argue, occured due to things that happened previously, including all the Skirmishes that ultimately led the Covenant to Reach.
Therefore, thinking that Sam will be present in a game based on Reach, despite the fact that he died long ago is futile.See my previous point. Also, the 5 dudes are standing with the backdrop of Reach being glasses by Covenant Cruisers. This game takes place on the ground. Linda and John weren't on the ground during these events. It takes place on the ground? For certain? And it's certainly all an Reach? You can say that without any doubt? Surely not. I just fail to see how you can come up with a compelling storyline, worthy of the Halo saga, that takes place during a single ground skirmish that lasted less than a day, and results in any charcters that you play ending up glassed. I just don't see it, which is what makes me so sure that one of the playable characters must be John.
Also, when Reach was being glassed, the Pillar of Autumn was already probably in slipspace. Meaning Linda and John were in it, both in Cyro sleep. The promotional banner is unlikely to show where people actually are during the events. I think it was made to look cool, not to show that those characters are standing right there, like that, while Reach is being glassed behind them.
And again, look at the body physique. Come on!Unless we have a regular human to compare them to, the only way to compare the physique is by looking at the 5 already pictured. We know that Sam was bigger than the rest. By judging the physiques, pretty much all we can tell is the gender of the character, and that fits with the theory of Sam, Kelly, John, Fred and Linda.
In fact, I've convinced myself further, and I'm willing to up it to 10 cookies, and 4 Kudos points :).
