My Concept of the Player Hub
Halo 1 had no online support.
Halo 2 had massive online support and customization, which integrated the game stats with bungie.net, and gave gamers an online identity to play through.
Halo 3 improved greatly on Halo 2 in terms of bungie.net tracking and Halo 3 representation.
Halo REACH should continue this trend. My idea is a "Player Hub" that would effectively be a more indepth version of Halo 3's "Service Card." In my concept, a lot of the stuff included (such as bio, motto, etc.) is inputted through Xbox LIVE already, this idea would just put everything together to give an overview of the type of person the player is. It would be comprised of numerous modules which would each have separate privacy settings.
Essentially, this would be closer marrying bungie.net stats tracking with Halo REACH, so we could view indepth stats breakdowns from our 360s, not just on bungie.net.
Modules:
Banner: the banner, visible at the top, would be customizable by the player. The backgrounds would be interchangable like the ones on our bungie.net profile page. It would also show a snapshot of your avatar. This module is always visible to other players, however, you could choose to hide your real name and last active date. In the banner module will be numerous buttons leading break-downs, such as screenshots, fileshares, games history, career stats, and achievements.
Bio: the bio would include our XBL motto, biography, and would contain a button to view our XBL gamercard. The privacy settings on this module mirror the ones in place for our XBL profile.
Comments: a new section, private by default. People on your friends list could write you comments that you could read over, which would be more personal than messages (possibly offering more space) and would not get deleted as messages do. A button at the top allows friends to leave comments (if you allow this feature), or non-friends to send you a friend request.
Recent Games: similar to the section on our bungie.net stats page, this module would show our most recent game, and the medals earned by the player (with a "..." at the bottom of the list if all of their medals don't fit in the module).
Stats: the stats module would display our customized player model, total multiplayer versus kills (non-campaign and non-firefight), deaths, and kill/death ratio, combining ranked and social. It would also display our most recently earned Halo REACH achievements, and a link to "view all stats" (I forgot to add this) under the player model, and the "..." under the Achievements would be a button linking to all REACH achievements.
Friends: the friends would show which 7 of our friends we play Halo REACH with the most often, to allow players to quickly see which of their favorite buddies are online, to invite them, message them, or leave them a comment on their player hub. The friends would be private by default, but could possibly be made public. At the bottom of this module is a "View Friends" button (like the one currently in place on XBL) with privacy features mirroring those already here in XBL. In the friends list, we should now be able to specify: Mutual, and New (again, with privacy settings for these as well).
To the player, all of their modules would be visible by default, but to people on their friends list, the private modules (friends and comments) would be hidden, and to people not on their friends lists, the bio module may be hidden as well, depending on your privacy settings. All modules could be made public, however, some must be public: Banner, Recent Halo REACH games, and Stats.
What do you think of this idea?
