Subject: I have heard a rumor that bungie is considering natal for halo reach

I personally think this would be awsome. For those of you who dont know what natal is it is a camera that goes on the 360 and you could play games without a controller, so basically the xbox's wii.

it will/ would ruin halo IF its the only way to play it

  • 07.01.2009 1:41 PM PDT

i agree but i bet it will just be a seperate option

This has probably got be, oh, I don't know, the 10th thread about this. Try digging it up first, no offense, unless it's already passed to the second page.

During a recent chat with The Seattle Times, Bungie recently hinted at some big news for their upcoming Halo: Reach. Harold Ryan, Bungie's Studio Head, is very excited about Project Natal, Microsoft's full body motion control technology.

When asked whether or not he things Halo: Reach could take advantage of the device, he said, "I absolutely think 'Reach' could be enabled with it."

This is from gameinformer.com and this is where I heard it from

People aren't thinking of what this could be used for. This is NOT the wii, there are at the very least small optional things like driving a 'hog that this could be used for. How would this destroy the game?

Exactly. I'm sure that Bungie can find a way to implement Natal into the game, at least optionally, so that the gameplay will still be the same, smooth FPS gameplay we are so fond of.

I know the things Natal can do, it is not just motion control and I still think all possible uses of Natal would ruin Halo: Reach.

How would you know that? Natal and Halo: Reach are still in development, so how do you know that Natal will ruin Halo: Reach?

  • 07.01.2009 1:59 PM PDT

Natal doesn't sound too good to me, especially on a Halo game. Bungie should just give the game Natal possibilities, like a setting that lets you make use of it, turn it on or off. Don't knock it till you try it, I guess. Who knows, Natal could be a pleasant surprise.

Why don't people understand love
:CCCCCCCCCCC

It would ruin the gamplay thank you very much(If it was the only way to play)
Personally I think every game should be made to be controlled with NATAL or a classic controller that way all the "casual" gamers will be happy dancing around like a fool while trying to board a ghost. And the more "hardcore" gamers can just hold down RB. But I don't see how it could work with NATAL.

maybe it could be an option,it can probably come with an assault rifle controller to shoot with.

  • 07.11.2009 7:06 AM PDT

I hunt for the Prophet of Contentment, the San 'Shyumm that murdered my son, and stole his birthright, his Energy Sword. They call our species Heretics. They claim to all that our tongues sting, our words a vile poison that feeds on the unworthy. I have seen the true face of Heresy. The head of a gallant warrior lay on the ground. His neck scorched and blistered, scarred by his own blade. I shall retrieve the weapon, and drive it through that bastard's heart! Punishment for his sins is nigh.

Dont forget, systems like NATAL are just another step toward simulated gaming. And when gaming is simulated, and you all didn't use NATAL, your all gonna be hurtin' when you suck at the first fully simulated Halo game. Either way, I see how Natal would be cool . You would not stand up, you would sit in your seat, point out with the "model assault rifle" they give you, and the rest is all buttons on the rifle, a control stick to move, you aim with the rifle itself (instead of the second stick). You have a trigger on the rifle, you throw grenades by motioning a grenade throw. Reload by motioning a reload. It would all work if they give you a model rifle, with a control stick on it for movement, and all the buttons on the rifle (ABXY where your left hand goes, control stick and RT where your right hand goes, RB (reload, weapon swap), LB (Grenade change, Dual wield actions), and LT (Grenade Throw) are all actions perfomed with your right hand (or left if you are left handed.

Although I think there should also be a Covenant weapon model for Covie fans. So we have the choice.

  • 07.11.2009 7:07 AM PDT

that would be cool but from what ive seen natal is more about using your body instead of a controller so i bet it will come with a prop gun but not one with a lot of buttons on it and you will probably have to like actually crouch to crouch and stuff like that.

  • 07.11.2009 8:37 AM PDT

I'll be surprised if Natal is out by then.

I'd like it if we could chose to play either way. An FPS in full motion would be VERY cool.

well how would you do stuff like trade guns pick up guns and stuff like that, would you drop the prop gun then bend down and pick it up again or what

  • 07.11.2009 9:32 AM PDT

You can never succeed if you never try.

I personally think that video games just need to stay the way they are now, analog sticks, face buttons, etc. i don't think that it would be right to play a game like halo with something like the natal.

It'll probably be out but only a small portion of the XBox community will have it. Because of this, any implementation of Natal in Reach will be limited and optional.

Plus, you guys need to get it out of your heads that Natal means running around your living rooms pretending to jump and crouch. Existing game genres are unlikely to change much as a result of Natal. More than likely it would add additional control opportunities such as navigating screens via hand motions and voice command. It's also possible it could become an alternative to certain button presses. How about changing grenade types by saying, "grenade"? The real potential for Natal is in the new types of gameplay it makes possible. Game studios are not staffed by idiots. Any interface that decreases the playability of their game is not going to be allowed to supplant existing controls.

Natal is NOT going to replace analog sticks for control in any existing franchises.
