Lots of games are coming out now that have an emphasis on the realistic gore while Halo remains to just have a small spray of blood unlike massive severing like gears of war or Left 4 dead. While gears still makes me a little sick to my stomach when I get curb stomped would it be so bad if an elites leg was blown off when getting stuck or if I saw a limb come out of a giant explosion?

Ugh...

First on a BWU.. yeah, I'm cool.

ODST;MYTHIC Screenshot winner! One of the first to get their hands on the mythic map pack.

This is not Gears of War.
This is not Left 4 Dead.
This is not Fallout 3.

More blood in Halo?

Anyways, more gritty I don't mind. Aslong as it doesn't affect my visuals. If it is harder to see players, then no.

  • 07.01.2009 4:28 PM PDT

gears of war is sci-fi two and I never said I wanted Halo to be more violent I just say that theres a chance that Halo reach may be more violent.

Oel ngati kameie, oe omum nga, oe ’efu nga.

none of your posts really contributed to anything, all you said was this is not GoW or GTFO

of course its not GoW or L4D, but that doesnt mean that it cant be at least realistic, and i assure you that in the future, even 500 years from now, when someone gets exploded by a grenade, limbs are gonna fly

  • 07.01.2009 4:28 PM PDT

-blam!- Was that actually blammed out? Or did I just type it? You'll never know.

Despite it's "M," rating, it's a kid's game. It just wouldn't be with all that gore.

  • 07.01.2009 4:29 PM PDT

its not a kids game, not at all. Lego star wars is a kids game, kung fu panda is a kids game. halo is more of a teenagers game,

When you were 8-12, what did you want to play? Lego games, or shooting games?

I like it the way it is. Why would Bungie do that. Didn't they try to keep the Halo 3 game rateing down when they made it?

I think it's fine as it is. Bungie were orginally vying for Halo to be rated "T" (probably a 12 here in the UK), but the introduction of the Flood changed all that...
Besides, in Halo 3 you can dismember the Flood at the least; stick a Combat Form and watch the limbs and slime fly. Also if MJOLNIR armour is nigh on indestructible there wouldn't be anywhere for severed limbs and extra blood to go now would there?

i would love a more gritty campaign and maybe more blood and wounds ? (Deep slash when hit by sword) Only on dead body's. But not extreme gore like it GoW. It also needs to be a darker atmosphere in halo reach not as clean and "pretty" as halo 3's

  • 07.01.2009 6:04 PM PDT

I wouldn't really like it if there was more gore in halo. I sort of agree with the need for a darker atmosphere (it wouldn't make sense to not have one considering that you're on a planet being glassed), but THIS IS HALO, not gears of gore. If you want more blood, just play L4D or GOW, but this game will probably just have a darker atmosphere, not more gore.

Check out the group, Planet Reach and talk about Bungie's next game without the annoyance of the public forum. Oh and it's nice there too.

You thought you had lag, it took Jesus 3 days to re-spawn.

What would be awesome is if they found a way to keep the color that the Covenant is known for (their bright and colorful purples and blues) and still make it a bit more gritty. i don't want Gears gritty, but a little darker atmosphere. I think the colorful nature of Halo mixed with a gritty, dark atmosphere would be downright awesome.

I think that "gotmilk6" may be right, to an extent; however, I don't think that Bungie will play on this characteristic so much so as the aforementioned franchises. And although its true that the Halo universe has enjoyed a relatively guts-and-gore-free lifetime, I think that it will move, albeit slowly, into a gloomier and slightly more violent more realism than have the current 3 Halo titles.

Im not sure if you realize this but spartens are wearing suits, which means blood cant really get out of the suit. I mean... other than the blood that comes out of the hole in which the bullet is in...so yeah

  • 07.01.2009 10:35 PM PDT

Without me, it's just "Aweso".

Spartan armor won't let blood get out.

Elite Armor won't splinter, or show big spouts of Blood.

Grunts just blow up into confetti.

  • 07.01.2009 10:37 PM PDT

Well Halo Is Gritty on the flood levels but bungie whent very shiney on H3 compare to H2

We believe that the universe is unbounded: this is not the same as infinite: the 2-D surface of a sphere, wrapped around a 3rd dimension, has a finite size, but has no end. If you start off in a given direction on the surface of a sphere, you could return to your start point without having to turn around -- you simply go all the way around. But wouldn't that mean the universe has an escape velocity like the earth?

maybe it would help for all of us if there was a choice in campaign for go in the options menu, as in:

Gore:
Minimal: Barely any gore, just a small sputter of blood, like halo 3
Medium: Slight gore, blood is more realistic
Maximum: Extreme Gore,, ie Gears of War/Dead Space

and as for MP, yea, it depends whether it affects gameplay

Epic Films
Check us out for Halo movies!

Earth was near destruction in Halo 3, and Bungie did a pretty good job of making the story seem pretty dark. However, after reading Fall of Reach several times, I hope that Halo: Reach is really gritty and dark.

However, a lot of gore is not necessary to convey this. Yes, in the books there are gore, and in war people's bodies are shredded and torn in horrible ways, but that is not the sort of game we know Halo as.

Additionally, Spartans' armor would prevent any great amount of blood loss and reduce the likelihood of dismemberment.
