I think a grittier Halo game would not be a bad thing. Especially in Reach. The battle for Reach was a huge conflict, a fight that humans lost. I think to capture that true feel of desperation Reach should take on a darker tone. To see mutilated Marines lying on the ground after an Elite ambush, or a Hunter just vaporize someone, just leaving boots, or scorched bodies of soldiers in the remains of a leveled forest, those would be real and totally amazing.

I think Reach should take on that tone. It's different from the other games in that in the others there was hope. But after all, from the beginning, you know the end. Reach falls. It should be darker.

Film grain would be a cool feature too. Think Saving Private Ryan 500 years in the future. This is still war. It should be a bloody, explosive, limb strewn ground war.

This is not Gears of War.
This is not Left 4 Dead.
This is not Fallout 3.

So Halo would never work with gore because it isn't any of the above games?

There is no real reason to leave gore out of Halo. There is also no real reason to add it in. Bungie will do what they feel is right for the game, and I trust them to make it work.

I still feel the cleanliness and colorfulness of Halo 3 made so much fun.You could relax and have fun, instead of being disgusted at the gore. Seriously, gore doesn't make a good game.
Keep the Halo formula the same.

My lil' rant to the kids above:
This game is rated M, so kids shouldn't be playing it anyway. And to the kids defending themselves above me: stop. It's well known that when you hear a lil kids voice playin on xbl the first thing you do is mute him, and then when he's nading his teammates you leave the game. Every kid I play with either tries to cuss someone out or pick a fight. Whoever said spankin your kids is child abuse needs to change their mind cuz kids these days have no respect, and it worked for the last hundreds of generations, so why all of the sudden is it now messing with their heads? Stop blaming kids acting up on video games and notice that it's from them going to the corner rather than gettin set straight.
<End Rant>

You haven't played with me have you?

a darker, grittier Halo that actually deserves the "mature" rating is what i have always wanted. it would be -blam!- awesome. not so cartoony. (yep, that's right. i said cartoony. flame me all you want, you know it's true)

none of your posts really contributed to anything, all you said was this is not GoW or GTFO

of course its not GoW or L4D, but that doesnt mean that it cant be at least realistic, and i assure you that in the future, even 500 years from now, when someone gets exploded by a grenade, limbs are gonna fly
The public has been tainted by Hollywood...
Grenades don't blow people's legs off all the time like in movies. They'll occasionally blast off a limb, but if that it's probably only one and at a thin joint.

fragmentation grenades can blast off limbs, tear flesh, impale organs, and break bones from the force. The blast radius and explosive force is not like what it is in video games.

fun lesson from vet. grandpa:
A 12 gauge shotgun with 3" magnum slugs can rip a person in half with one shot.
