i always wanted to fly the frigate, or even the long sword, a pelican maybe.
imagine, huge maps that can support 32 players! the ability to fly a longsword and bomb the other base, or even doing a suicide run against the enemy. we could drive pelicans to pick up and drop off players. another cool thing that could be done is to change the way the players enter the battle, like everyone can spawn in a frigate above the map and get to the map through drop pods! help me come up with more ideas, thnx

WoW is like Girls Gone Wild without the tits: idiots and douches taking turns doing anything to get noticed, and no one knows what a condom looks like.

Space battles would be pretty cool, if they were implemented right. I like the idea of having to stay in the pelican, like you do in campaign while someone drives you, and the drop pod thing sounds cool too. But the maps would have to be really big.

ok, more ideas...hm...ha, iv got a perfect one, this is a game type that i wish they would put into matchmaking, its calld "team scarab".
what happens is, each team has their own scarab to defend, the objective is to destroy the other teams scarab first. but if they are going to do this, they might have to have a drivable scarab by players, thatl be kickass.

You guys have no clue what a space battle really was. If you did you would know they would be boring as hell. The ships shoot from huge distances from each other and the ships maneuver so slow.

good point, yeah, maybe not drive scarabs, maybe control the big turret on the top? they should buff up the scarab if they are going to do this, like add extra turrets, or maybe make the scarab even bigger.

The scarab could be controlled by an AI.

its a game...lets put space battles this way then, there are two capital ships, one human and one covenant, they are stationary, like bases, so, players can go into the hanger bay and get into pelicans, banshees, hornets, longsword, and fly it into space and attack capital ship, or land in capital ship, team to destroy enemy capital ship wins, like my scarab idea.

more ideas....lets see, think big here, this thread is about big ideas, big maps, big battles, and big egos. so,what if...u had a battle that took place both in space and ground at the same time? ships could be in orbit, players get in drop pods to get to ground, thats the only way between the two fighting plains. so, giant space battle, and then players go back to ground and fight, pelicans can come down to bring vehicles and even more players. sound nice?

Have you ever played Star Wars: Battlefront 2. That seemed to work. Don't control the capital ship, just the fighters. And you can board the other ship. Maybe you could control the capital ship in an RTS way, and you can "direct" the fighters(meaning they are not obliged to listen.) It would be radical and fun, but I can see the system being abused.

think of a space battle like the one part in the campaign in the mission covenant, remember? the part when your flying hornets and fighting dozens of banshees? very similar, but with more vehicles and allies.

so, ideas people, more ideas for large scale battles, well, there could be a game type called "nuke" could be a very big map, with a structure in the middle called the bomb shelter, the point is to control the the bomb shelter and set off the nuke, everyone outside the bobm shelter will get OWND. could be a nice king of the hill variant lol.

How about a gametype where one team spawn at the top of a tower and one spawns at the bottom and has to destroy an object at the top? The team at the top would be able to set up turrets, snipers etc. at certain vantage points in the tower to defend aginst the advancing team.

i love the way ur thinking my man, hmm, since this thread is bout thinking big, how bout make the tower as tall as empitaph ( i think i spelt it wrong) , so, players can either take stairs up, fight their way up, or we can have like a super pro grappling system, like spartans grab onto rope, and climb up, and can take out weapons and shoot. another king of the hill variant.

the type of space combat i would like to see again is protecting your ship like in halo 1 when you had to fight your way off the ship i thought that was cool and maybe add i little flying to it as well maybe as the ending part or somthing

yeah, that could be it, like survivor mode on a ship, u know wut would be a better idea...wut if, they buffed up infection even more, like, players that turn into zombies look like flood spartans, thatl make more sense. they can also have something like firefight, but instead of fighting covenant, you fight wave after wave of flood?
