Don't get me wrong. I love the Halo story/universe. A game centered around the Events of Reach? Holy crap! That's amazing. But thus far, every single Halo game has come down to the simple line "Oh no! We found another Halo!".

We first found it in Halo CE. Blew it up.
Found another one in Halo 2. That's now a -blam!-hole.
And we returned to the one we blew up in Halo CE in Halo 3. And blew it up again.
Oh and there was this other weird Halo like thingy in Halo 3 as well. Which we effed up as well.

With the only exception thus far being ODST, which I personally don't count as being as part of the official trilogy, every other game so far has featured a Halo of some sort.

Will Halo: Reach be any different? Or will a Huge Halo just burst out of the ground and say peace half way through the campaign?

Prepare to get flamed by others..

Anyways, it's been "proven" that the events of the game will be during the Fall of Reach (an event in the halo timeline and a book which tells what happened during said event).

If there's a Halo in the game I will kill myself.

Oh believe me. Watch around for all my other posts around this forum. I know that pretty well. I'm saying despite that, will a Halo somehow sneak itself in somehow? Every halo game thus far has done it. Why stop now?

And the game is not based off the book, rather the events. Some of those events probably did not take place in the book and those events will be the focus of the game.

That was a very educated guess.

My opinion?
There will be another Halo game other than Reach and ODST, 'cause counting the aforementioned two we now have six halo games. Adding one more would make that seven >insert Halo ochestral theme< games. It'll add to the mythos!
C'mon Bungie!

I'll answer in order, I suppose.

99.99% chance of there not being a Halo in ODST so we can assume that Bungie is ready to stop the "ZOMG TEH ALIENZ R TEH TRYNGZ TO KIL US AL ZOMG WIT R1NGZ".

I know - I didn't know you were a regular of the forum or someone who has at least visited all of the major threads so I was just pointing out that there is a book detailing the event.

I reccommend the titanium alloy flame shield.

Haha, that's cool. I would have responded the same way if I were you. People coming here with crazy ass theories.

And, haha, I'm pretty sure ODST won't have a Halo. But, I hope Bungie is ready to quit that idea.

It will probably be the halo ring in halo CE since the fall of reach takes place right before the events of halo 1. It might be that the ending of Reach will be the beginning cutscene for halo 1

  • 07.02.2009 8:10 AM PDT

Halo no longer refers to the "Sacred Rings", rather the beautiful universe Bungie has so delicately crafted.

  • 07.02.2009 8:23 AM PDT

Or maybe Reach is a flashback the Master Chief is having whilst in cryo sleep; and then it finishes and we wake up in the Dawn.

common sense is not commonly used

Read the books they contain the main events of the battle of reach. Halo: First strike and Halo: the fall of Reach

To clear something up, the Halo in Halo 3 wasn't quite the same one as in Halo: Combat Evolved. It was a brand-new replacement for it, constructed at the Ark. Yes, it was probably built according to the same plan, and it definitely had the same designation (Installation 04), but it was physically a new superstructure.

I doubt somewhat that there will be a Halo in Halo: Reach. If the game does take place on or near Reach, we already know there are no Halos there. That's something humanity would have noticed, and I doubt ONI would have been able to hide such a find from everybody if it was close to a major colony world.

Of course, the Spartans in Reach could end up stowing aboard or tailing a Covenant ship as it jumps through Slipspace, and ending up at one of the five Halos we've never seen. Or maybe Halo locations will be obtained from the Covenant somehow and the Spartans will go to investigate. This is all strictly speculation, however. We don't actually know anything about this game other than that it's an FPS, at least five Spartans are somehow involved, it has something to do with Reach, and it's planned for a 2010 release.

You do realize that the whole Halo Trilogy was based around the Covenant trying to activate the rings? The Covenant found the Delta Halo and then Cortana knew about the hidden on in the Ark. That's what the story is about and it's a damn good one to!

Reach: 2010

"Wow! It's like the money-shot is on MY face!"

It's going to be a giant onion ring.

I know the "Halo" trilogy would of course be revolving around the Halos, but it would still be a nice change to not have one, and Halo's weren't involved in the storyline of TFoR, so the best educated guess would be no.

I'd love to be a 10 year old and tell my mom I'm going on an adventure out into the world catching Pokemon, with her full support. Never mind the fact that there are rapists, criminals, and murders out there, or the fact that I may get killed by a Pokemon.

Luckily I have Pikachu.

For that reason (and other reasons) that is why when it comes to story... Halo 1 > Halo 2 > Halo 3.

As much as I love them I hope there's no forerunner constructions at all in this game.
I want something completely new.

How the heck are they gonna add another halo??? The first sighting of said ring was in Halo CE, no sooner than that. And this is a confirmed prequal. So unless you're suggesting time travel, which is the stupidest thing ever, there is no way without a contradicting storyline. And if adding another halo bothers you so much, why play halo in the first place. I dont care as long as it's fun. there are few things that would bug me, like time travel as a part of the story line, but thats about it. As far as i can see, there will NOT be another halo in Reach.

Well, if you flashback to Reach's events through the MC, you would only be able to do one mission: The one where MC boards the broken ship (forgot the name) to retrieve the information not previously destroyed. That's like one mission. That was all MC did at Reach.

If we do see a halo ring in Reach, it will probably be at the end of the game where the PoA jumps out of Reach's system which triggers the events of halo 1. Other than that, I don't see how you will be able to visit a ring installation.

As long as I see Captain Keyes in full 1080p glory, then I'm fine.

Epic Films
Check us out for Halo movies!

...You do realize the title of the series is "Halo"? Right? Because that's what the entire story focuses on. That's also why we're always fighting on them and blowing them up. Why would a story about Halos not involve...Halos?

As for Halo: Reach and your fear of a Halo appearing, you're assuming the title will bring a Halo, which goes against your original statements. Halo: Reach uses Halo to reference the story this time around.

Obvious much? Brand recognition.

I was merely joking about the fact that Reach has Halos. Come on, I know as much. But it felt sorta contrived in Halo 2 and Halo 3. I mean, it made sense in Halo CE... But I didn't need to go to a Halo in every other Halo game.

  • 07.03.2009 12:40 AM PDT

I love "Luck"

There can't be a Halo.
in Halo: CE, notice that they didn't know what they were landing on.
So, obviously, the Halo in CE is the first Halo they found. Meaning no Halo in Reach :]
