Don't get me wrong. I love the Halo story/universe. A game centered around the Events of Reach? Holy crap! That's amazing. But thus far, every single Halo game has come down to the simple line "Oh no! We found another Halo!".
We first found it in Halo CE. Blew it up.
Found another one in Halo 2. That's now a -blam!-hole.
And we returned to the one we blew up in Halo CE in Halo 3. And blew it up again.
Oh and there was this other weird Halo like thingy in Halo 3 as well. Which we effed up as well.
With the only exception thus far being ODST, which I personally don't count as being as part of the official trilogy, every other game so far has featured a Halo of some sort.
Will Halo: Reach be any different? Or will a Huge Halo just burst out of the ground and say peace half way through the campaign?
To clear something up, the Halo in Halo 3 wasn't quite the same one as in Halo: Combat Evolved. It was a brand-new replacement for it, constructed at the Ark. Yes, it was probably built according to the same plan, and it definitely had the same designation (Installation 04), but it was physically a new superstructure.
I doubt somewhat that there will be a Halo in Halo: Reach. If the game does take place on or near Reach, we already know there are no Halos there. That's something humanity would have noticed, and I doubt ONI would have been able to hide such a find from everybody if it was close to a major colony world.
Of course, the Spartans in Reach could end up stowing aboard or tailing a Covenant ship as it jumps through Slipspace, and ending up at one of the five Halos we've never seen. Or maybe Halo locations will be obtained from the Covenant somehow and the Spartans will go to investigate. This is all strictly speculation, however. We don't actually know anything about this game other than that it's an FPS, at least five Spartans are somehow involved, it has something to do with Reach, and it's planned for a 2010 release.
