Subject: Elite Voices

In Halo 2 and Halo 3, Bungie made the elites increasingly more cool. In addition to changing their posture from Halo 1, Bungie game them a awesome backstory and game us some interesting characters. There's only one thing that really irks me about the elites in Halo 2 and 3 - the voices.

Don't get me wrong, the voices of Keith David as the the Arbiter and Robert Davi as shipmaster were awesome - it's the voices of all the OTHER elites that really were nothing short of cheesey. Their voices made the gameplay seem unrealistic (yes i know it's in space, video game, blah blah) and hard to take seriously. Am i alone on this one? More unique, deep voices for Halo Reach would be great. The old one sounds like a 12 year old trying to sound "grown up".

What do you guys think? Yay or nay?

Eh, I think they suit the elites.

  • 07.02.2009 8:42 AM PDT

I agree. The Arbiter and Shipmaster had amazing dialogue and voices.

"That armour suits you. It doesn't hide that mark though."

"Nothing ever will."

Why can't we have things like that for normal Elites?

Oh, and arbiter from Halo Wars, his voice rocked.
Me, i'v always hated the design for the elites in H2 and H3, H1 they looked the best in my opinion.
Seeing as how they've always slightly changed the way they look in each game they might bring back the old design for this prequal.
Prequal....hmmm, Wort Wort Wort anyone?

What about the inbred house potatoes?!

.

In my opinion, they should not even speak english. They should speak their own language, like in Halo:CE.

Agreed, thats one thing I didn't like about the Elites in Halo 2 and Halo 3. They seem less alien-like.

I know there is a translator in his helmet but that still doesn't change my opinion.

Their voices need to be mixed half English and half Alien. According to cannon, the translating software was not the best and did not translate lots of things. We can still have Elites having important dialouge lines in English, and Having those memorable riffs from Halo CE like: Wort Wort Wort. And everyone needs to hear that line again.

Let there be light, created from fire

I am all i am, i am a team player(when im not pissed), i make great strategies, i will punch you in the face after armor locking, you have to be at sniper distance to not get headshot by my DMR or pistol, wraiths beware, i am DxXOrangesXxD and i am ready to rumble! (When Halo 4 comes out cause Reach is nothing but crap players now)

you could have added a poll, i think they were pretty fine, i never get to hear them much because they die so fast

That'd be great. Wort wort wort and things like that made elites awesome. Maybe a combination would be best.

Posting on bungie.net should require that the user has had to have read a chapter book all the way through.

During gameplay, I think that the elites would have mixed religious fervor (translated into English, but still unsure of what it means) broken literal English, and the classic wort wort wort.
