Subject: Theory on why we will fight Insurrectionists in this game

In every major Halo game so far, we've had variation.

The variation of course, being between the Flood and the Covenant. Both had very different fighting styles, and weapons, and so we had to radically change our fighting styles too, to cater for this.

For example, if I'm being shot by a very precise Plasma Rifle, then I would strafe whilst drawing up close to the wielder of said rifle, where I can easily take him out.

If I'm being shot by an Assault Rifle however, which has a large spread; then it would be foolish of me to charge forward, as it would be hard to strafe. Therefore, I take the enemy out from a distance, where the rifle is less affective.

This is just an example of how different enemies with different weapons can affect your playing style. It's what set Halo apart from other shooters, one minute you could be shot by plasma, and the next by a bullet.

But wait a second...Reach doesn't have Flood in. Not to the best of our knowledge anyway. So how are we going to have variation in the way we play?

Elites and other members of the Covenant would actually rather die than pick up a human weapon, even if it lies but a few feet away from them. As it says on Halopedia...

Lieutenant Junior Grade Fred-104 theorizes that the Elites follow an edict of the Prophets that states that they should not use Human weapons, based on his own sightings of Elites happily dying rather than pick up a fully loaded MA5B Assault Rifle at their feet.

So that rules out the Covenant using Human weaponry.

So where will my needed variation come from then, if the Flood are absent and the Covenant unwilling to use non - Covenant weapons?

The answer is simple - Insurrectionists, or Rebels, as you may know them.

These rebels use Human weapons, they are against you, and are also hostile to the Covenant. What more perfect a faction could there possibly be to take up the Flood's mantle?

They have different tactics to the Covenant, will provide some interesting three way conflicts, and will give us a chance to see in action what has been in most of the Halo books.

Thus, this is how I have reached my conclusion that yes, Rebels will be in the game, and we will fight them.

Thanks for reading.

I'd love to be a 10 year old and tell my mom I'm going on an adventure out into the world catching Pokemon, with her full support. Never mind the fact that there are rapists, criminals, and murders out there, or the fact that I may get killed by a Pokemon.

Luckily I have Pikachu.

Why would there be Insurrectionists on Reach? That would have the same outcome as having three guys with box cutters attacking the Pentagon... They would get seriously owned!

There actually are Insurrectionists on Reach, don't ask me why, but there are.

As much as I would enjoy being able to fight some of the rebels from the books, I do not want them to ruin the storyline by somehow getting rebels involved with the fall of Reach, this would completely contradict the book, that is, assuming the game is based on the Fall of Reach.

The book only relays to us the start of the battle, then it jumps as the Pillar of Autumn makes a "not so blind" jump to Halo.

Firstly, Brutes in Halo 2 use shotguns.
Secoundly. The Arbiter picks up human weopons in Halo 2.
Thirdly, I'm prettly sure you can give your Covenant ally a human weopon and he'll take it.

*Sigh*

We don't fight Brutes in this game, and the other two were just so we didn't feel like we had to use Covenant weapons. Indeed, if you give a Covenant ally a human weapon they grumble reluctantly; if you were anyone but the Arbiter (Or the Chief in Halo 3), they would refuse.

like halo wars...
but i fail to see what difference in weapons they will have to humans. Perhaps like some other alien spiecies who were once covenant or something? but humans invaded their world for resources?
crap idea D:

but it is like halo wars

I'm sorry, excuse me? I'm not the guy with a whole bunch of "X"s in my name. Unless they symbolise that you belong to a society of superior beings?

I was saying that I don't think Reach will have much variation unless we have an antagonist that wield human weapons.

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

A lot of you need to really calm down, it's a plausible theory that shouldn't be dismissed. Besides, it's better than the whole "time travel" stuff going around.

IM A LEGIT 16

Yeah, I like that idea, but how do they fit it into the story?
You'll have to make each Innie have a huge marker saying "REBEL HERE!" or people would get confused (hell, some people got confused in the Arbiter lvls). Unless they make it so the Innies are spies, screwing you over whenever everyone else dies.

There should be ways to detect them, though.

People don't get confused with Call of Duty, just give them radically different uniforms.
