Reach MMO. Here's to hoping.

And the people that believe "the hardcore playlists would be more popular if the rules were strictly MLG" can come off it, now. If you're not willing to support something close to your own setup, there's no reason for us to believe that cloning our own lists and stripping the variety down will attract more people. -- Shishka, Bungie.net

more veiocles sorry if spelled wrong

Another sissy suggestion. Of course there is going to be more vehicles. About about something totally different.

... yea go reach

it would be awesome to play with bots. I remember some time ago in halo 3 we were wondering if bungie would come out with A.I. wars, but that would be awesome, like sandbox but you can put bots into it for training, or if you little sister doesnt wanna play with you because she will get creamed you can do that =p

People have to realize there is a VERY fine line you have to walk to please the majority of the players. Yeah some new ideas and changes would be really cool and awesome and all that, but with too much changing it won't feel like Halo to a lot of people and that's going to piss a lot more people off than not adding a crazy new feature.

However, on one level I do agree. The suggestions in this thread don't contain any new ideas at all, there should be changes, just very slight ones. A change noticeable but yet not drastically different. Still the Halo feel with a fresh perspective.

I certainly don't want to take away that good old fashion Halo "feeling", whatever the hell that means. Change really is a good thing, but minor change like everyone is crying for is not.

Halo is great how it is! So why make a minor change? Do you see the amount of complaining and whining when a new Halo is made? H2 came out and all you could hear from people are "where's my pistol" and "healthbar please" and etc. Then H3 comes out and there is more and more complaining. People who started with Halo CE think it is the best Halo ever, likewise those who started with H2 and H3.

Why? Because the euphoria and fun factor that comes with playing a really great game for the first time. You try and try to get that same feeling from the same old Halo game with a few tweaks, but you can't, because it isn't a totally new, innovative game like the first time you played Halo.

The obvious answer that it hard to closeminded Halo zealots to see is that a radical change is what we need to get that feeling back. Bungie studios is one of the few developers that can truly release something great.

So why not let them release something great again? Something that can take you back to the feeling of the first time you played Halo CE.

Let there be CHAOS!

I play Halo for Halo. If I want something different I'll play some other game. Stop trying to turn Halo into something different.

New game mechanics here and there are fine (like equipment and dual-wielding), but not a complete overhaul of the gameplay or a ludicrous stack of stupid gimmicks.

But you were dead a thousand times. Hopeless encounters successfully won. A man long dead, grafted to machines your builders did not understand. You follow the path, fitting into an infinite pattern. Yours to manipulate, to destroy and rebuild.

Now, in the quantum moment before the closure, when all become one. One moment left. One point of space and time.

I know who you are.

You are destiny.

I think the current halo forumula should be kept the same and that only minor changes should be made and more things should be added to the halo sandbox.

I am talking about an overhaul, but not gimmicks.

You really just want a few new game mechanics!?! For the rest of the Halo series life??? That my friend is ludicrous.

IMO it is time for a drastic change. The Halo trilogy is awesome, but you really want to beat that same horse forever? The Halo universe is too big for that IMO.

I make a legitimate thread on the most logical choice for the next Bond actor, and you take that away from me by creating a parody thread indirectly connecting my thread to yours.

I hope your kids have bad influences and develop bad personalities. I wish this with all my heart.

I completely agree with a co-op PvP campaign. Left 4 Dead's Versus Mode was beyond epic.
How about 2 versions of it?
One where it's even and well-balanced, elites and friends vs. Spartans and friends...
And one that's basically L4D's Versus mode. Yeah. But think: Instead of the tank, we get 2 hunters, instead of smokers, we get Jackals, instead of Hunters, we get Honor Guard Elites, and instead of boomers, we get suicide grunts.
That would basically fulfill all of our fantasies of Dishing out pain as 2 Hunters, Running in as a suicide grunt and exploding could result in maximum hilarity, and being a vewwy sneaky Honor Guard elite, and having your character give out a battle cry after a successful back-stabbing would be a blast.

Alright, now for the "sissy stuff."
Let's talk multiplayer. Yeah, like custom games.
First of all, I don't care if you keep the odd melee system online, since it's meant to balance out laggy connections. But in custom games?
First off, it should automatically be disabled in local games. This just makes sense, since lag was the main reason you guys built it.
Second off, lets us spawn any of the game weapons as starting weapons in multiplayer.
And third, bring back the option to only have so many people spawned at once. Now that we finally have forge, and the ability to make kick-ass sword arenas, making a fool-proof system that allows for true 1-v-1 sword duels with the ultimate in-game spectating just makes sense.

10.Sword combos and sword combo finishers like left diagonal, right diagonal and across( \ / --) you could also impale

Halo Reach should have huge online universe.
You would register with the UNSC,or Covenant. Then you get to choose your voice and name. You would start of as a marine and you would get real time missions. You would get taken to missions by a pelican (or phantom) and get other reach players as teammates.Every 5 missions you do you would get a medal and $20.Every 10 medals you get,you get eleveated to your next post(marine to odst to spartan) or (grunt to jackle to elite). After all posts are unlocked you get more medals to unlock armor and suits. Also once you are registered you can go to Free Play.If you press it, you will be droped off in the middle of the ocean with a new boat type vehicle. If you drive it you can go to metropolis or sierra 117 or any other place on earth. There would be like 7 islands you could go to.You can find others who went to free play and form a clan.If you go somewhere a mission is taking place at you could help but wouldnt get a medal or money unless you signed back in to the UNSC or Covenant. In free play there would be an island where you could buy land and forge yourself a base or house(you will only be able to forge on land you bought). If your in free play and kill another UNSC,you will go to UNSC prison.Every person you kill you get 5 minutes of jail time with cell mates. You could break out also for fun. With UNSC,you could fly to reach, halo,or the pillar of autumn. With reach or halo you could set up bases and do missions there.I the covenant captures you, the UNSC will be informed and that will be the next mission for other players;to rescue prisoners.Money is used for buying land weapons and vehicles like your own personal driveable pelican for you and your friends or colored mongooses.Someone could steal your vehicles and a waypoint would be placed over the vehicle so you could take it back. Some people would be assigned pelican drivers or prison guards or misson reporters. You would also be able to choose FPV or 3PV and the sky would adjust with the time of day. It would be really fun. Also you could play the multiplayer in custom games. It would be like halo 3 custom games but it would include all the maps ever made from halo 1,halo 2,halo 3,and all the map packs.Forge would let you customize day, night, snow, rain, sunset, cloudy, windy, purple sky,and green sky filters. It would also include infinite items from all the levels(like sandbox items on last resort). You could also delete everything on each level. And placing water on the map would be a new forge item.
I think halo reach should have a new map maker similar to far cry 2 but with more textures. And when your finished you can go to forge and place items on the map. There would be no limit to how many items you could put down, and all the items from all the maps could be put in any level. There should also be a mission maker. In mission maker, you go to forge and get to place marines, ODSTs,grunts, jackles ,brutes, elites, and spartans on your map.You choose how they battle and when your finished you and your friends could battle with them. The Mission Editor would work like this:It would be in campaign. You play as the forge moniter on any level and you get to go through parts of the level one by one(So it has time to load the next part). In each part you can place up to 32 bots in each area, like forge only just bots. You can customize what they say,and the destinations of where you go.They are automatically programed to kill the Covenant but you can choose certain people they cant kill. You can only leave the area when you complete your first objective. When you go to the next area, the bots disapear. You customize when they get in vehicles, their spawn points and what weapons they have. This mode would be for people who have already beat Campaign over and over again and are tired of doing the same missions.

MMO? You gotta be -blam!- me...

The large army and airship fights sound good though.

  • 08.12.2009 7:45 PM PDT

If people really want insanely huge battles and to pilot ships and stuff, well I've had this idea for a long long long time for the Halo universe.

The basic concept is derived from Star Wars : Battlefront 2, for those who have played the game, they will understand what I'm trying to get across.

Throughout the whole game you do not play just one character, however it is more of a multiplayer- style battle.

At the start of a campaign mission, you start out at a place that the UNSC controls (or where you are dropped into), and spawn in as a simple marine. You have respawn 'tickets' that are your reinforcements that you and your allies (actual players, which opens up to much more than just 4-player co-op maybe 16 player co-op or bots) can use up.

You proceed to your objective, getting medals and kills and capturing more respawn territories. As you do so, you can unlock more advanced types of units to spawn into the battle. Units like Marines equipped with specialty weapons and equipment (like the sniper rifle or Rocket Launcher), then ODST's with more specialty equipment and such things. Eventually the person that is doing the best will get the chance to spawn in as a Spartan (or some other type of hero).

Vehicles can also be dropped in, or "earned" just like the unit awards system (above). This can include warthogs, tanks, hornets etc. But the neat thing is, this can also be applied to space battles and Aerial Battles. You start out as a UNSC pilot in your ship and choose which aircraft to pilot. You can destroy the covenant battleships or try to board them with a pelican or other boarding craft and destroy their critical systems from the inside or their pilots or capturing their leader etc...

The game is still an FPS, and will still play like Halo (that is all the UI is still intact), but with something new mixed in.

A Covenant Campaign can also be utilized, with a more logical progression of unlockable units. You first start out as a grunt, and work your way to higher rank or grunt, jackal, a simple soldier of an Elite. More 'elite' units of Elites can be unlocked (like Ultra and Zealot) that have Energy Swords that could obviously kill alot of Marines. The person that is doing the best would play a covenant hero (most likely an elite ex. an Arbiter).

This would satisfy alot of people's demands for wanting to fly pelicans, wanting to partake in huge battles, playing as a grunt/brute/jackal(and using their shields) etc...

A good idea IMO, but then again it is mine, so I'm a little biased :P

Your friendly and eccentric Sangheili forum-poster. :)

Looking back through this thread, I've noticed that people haven't mentioned cutscenes at all. Then again, I'm tired so I've probably missed a few posts. Why don't Bungie flesh out the cutscenes a bit more, make them longer, more interactive, more interesting and action packed? The MGS4 cutscenes are a good example of this, there are buttons you can press during the cutscenes for special sequences such as flashbacks, and they're very informative and are packed with plenty of action. Plus they're pretty lengthy too.

So why not make Halo Reach's cutscenes just as interesting to watch, instead of just having Master Chief walk into a certain area and getting told stuff all the time, why not add some battle scenes, add a bit more details about your mission and make them longer? Of course adding a little interaction would be good too, but since MGS is about the only game series that do that I just don't see it happening. But we still need some decent cutscenes, it will make the story much more powerful and breath-taking.

They were going to have a whole interactive battle cutscene in Halo 2 where you were the Arbiter fighting a Brute in hand to hand combat, but they had to scrap it because of the deadline of the game. So an interactive cutscene isn't too far off.

I think i'd be cool if you could unlock new things for weapons like scopes, barrels, things like that...upgrade your internal software for like better software mechanics like visor screening...like night vision stuff like that would be cool. or flying pelicans, or like a whole MMO world where people command whole ships like the pillar of autum and each person can pick a job on the ship, like ship commander...jet pilots and aircraft engineers... etc man that'd be super cool, and you could pick what side you wanted to be on

You guys do realize he's joking...right?

I thought my graduated battle damage scale was pretty unique.

Clan KaTasTRopHy

Yes i completely agree with him. If Bunige makes Halo like CoD or Rainbow 6, it'll make the Halo series generic and completely un oringinal. Sure new ideas are good but keep it halo. Oh, and DEFINATELY DONT MAKE IT LIKE SHADOWRUN!!!! In my opinion the way you move and strafe in H3 is the most legit than any other game i know. But one thing that I want to be changed however is a new goto gun. For example, in Halo 3 the best guy and most reliable is the BR and Carbine. So I just want to see a few other guns that could be considered "Pro". The one suggestion that i do agree with is the open world idea. But still, KEEP IT HALO. Also the idea about having the Elite vs Spartan action and maybe some gameplay with a brute would be pretty sweet. But yeh, anything can be good. But just keep it like the Halo we know and love.

Some of them are too much like CoD, Not that it's a bad thing but Halo is a simple game mechanic. So simple that it's loved by many.

"I am the Walrus." (:3=)

What if there was a completely different gametype with different maps? Like space battles like others have said but on a much grander and sophisticated scale. There would be two(maybe four) main ships, each with a hanger and large guns, similar to SW:BF. But here are the differences, each ship has a captian/pilot that can move the ship around set boundaries, and each ship can only have a set number of fighters out at once. So the rest of the team goes to the main guns and rips apart the enemy with a well placed shots(implying tactical destruction). The captain of the UNSC ships could fire the MAC(s) as well.

  • 08.13.2009 12:13 AM PDT

You are lame...

First off I want to start off by saying that the OP is not creative at all. All he did was take a bunch of ideas that have been done before and applied them to Halo.

I have a great idea. How about Halo: Reach stays somewhat coherent as being a Halo game, and we drop these ignorant ideas about how we can improve on Halo's core gameplay. Here is a hint to anyone that is ambitious and wants to "improve" Halo with their "creative" ideas, don't mess up Halo's core gameplay with your idea.

my minds open for a open world gameplay!

That's what I'm talking about.

What about PvP coop campaign levels. I made it up, think about it. You are playing as an elite with your buddies playing a campign mission against a group of spartans who are playing the same mission with different objectives.

Working out the details would meticulous to say the least, but at least it would be something different.
i just got that idea like a campaign where spartans have to do something while anotherteam of players are elites and they have to do something and they both fight to secure positions or capture something(or someone) like a real battle not like the current campaigns where it's you alone with a few marines whie all the covenant do is defend

in short fantastic PvP campaign idea that is the best one i've seen in this forum
