Incredibly good movie. The best I've seen in a while. Definatly the best in the "The Robots Got Too Smart, and Now They're Killing People" genre.

Uh, yeah it's a book. Most decent movies are screenplays written from books.

How close was it to the book? From the previews I've seen it looks like they've taken the basic plot, Robots Gone Rampant, and changed it into a completely different story.

I read the book a while ago. I haven't seen the movie yet, but having the robots "win" is ludacris. We're the ones with the nukes and guns. And most importantly, nukes emit huge EMPs. I swear, the designers must have been retards to hard code sentience into their creations... You don't need a learning machine for household tasks; maybe keep one AI chained up in a lab for testing. Maybe even let some loose on the internet. But still, how anyone could be so stupid is beyond me.

Yeah, Ive seen this movie too, it was great.

With B.B. gone, the passion of Bungie.net has lessened.

I saw it 3 times within 24 hours... just shows you how much I loved it... Movies like that are great... the whole stuff behind what AI might turn out to be really fascinates me.

Its not my favorite movie, however (but its my second favorite). The Matrix takes that spot.... unfortunately, I never got to see that one in the theater.

I'm curious as to how well it relates to the book. Anyone here ever read the book and see the movie?

were you not paying attention? *couple spoilers ahead*

VIKI, the old guy's first major break through and super-brain AI was controlling the robots, updating them with a new program to try and rule the humans. remeber that all of the SR-5's were linked to VIKI so they could be updated every so often with up-to-date programming. VIKI decided that the best way to follow the 3 laws of robotics was to rule the humans. so, she began reprogramming the SR-5's to try and control the humans. after Spooner or whatever "killed" VIKI, the SR-5's went back to their orgional program because she was controlling how they acted and moved. the SR-5's didn't band together and say "lets take over the world", VIKI told them to do that. get it?

ok, spoliers over.

oh, crap. sorry about that, didn't see the first sentence in your post. whoops...

I haven't read the books, but I don't think having the robots "win" is ludacris at all... Sure, we have nukes... but nukes are not efficient. They have tremendous side-affects. Radiation can last a long time, as well as spread far and wide. Many "innocents" would die. Also, robots would be stronger, faster, and probably smarter than us.... They could probably realize pretty quickly that a nuke is coming, and then hop into some fast vehicle and get out of the EMP's blast radius.

And in the movie, at least, VIKI had "control" over the military, since it had signed some sort of contract with the USR.... So that's a lot of weapons locked up...
