More about squad system

In matchmaking there would be 5 squads on each 80 player team. In each squad 16 people. Four of those people are the squad leaders for your squad. The game would make it so no more than two players who are friends can be squad leaders for the same squad. So there are 20 squad leaders on each 80 player team. You and your squadmates waypoints are blue. Your squadleaders waypoints are a blue SL symbol. Other players who are on your team, but not in your squad waypoints are white.The squad leaders can press down on the d-pad to request vehicle pick up like if they or someone near them has the flag or for other reasons. When they do a menu will pop up and they can choose which vehicle they want for pickup. When they request a vehicle a waypoint will guide teammates who are driving that kind of vehicle to them. If they answer your vehicle request they will more likely be chosen by the game for extra exp. Squad leaders can tap left on the d-pad to go into private leader chat with all squad leaders on their team to come up with plans like which squads attack and which defend. They have a icon on there screen that lets them know there are squad leaders private chatting. And a black waypoint will appear over all players on there team who don't have their mic plugged in, or are private chatting either in leader chat, xbox live party or xbox live private chat. And squadleaders can boot people from their squad and game who mess up the game. They would press the back button to pull up the squad menu and press (y) on a player they want to boot. All of squadleaders have to press (y) on that player to boot them. And the majority of squadleaders can vote to have a squadleader booted from their squad. The game wouldn't allow you to vote to boot someone until 30 seconds into the game. At the end of a game 4 players of each squad will be chosen based on how they did by the game for extra exp, and then the squad leaders will each choose 1 player from their squad to award more extra exp. Assumingly they will choose people who listened to them or press (b) to choose no one. There will be a few playlist in which you have to have been chosen for extra exp I would say 20 times before you can play them. There will also be a manditory overview / tutorial of this info so players will know the squad matchmaking system. You can change squad options like how many squad leaders and people in each squad in custom games, or you can just turn squads off. What do you think?

If you don't have a mic plugged in the game would not allow you in squad playlists. And when you are in the game if you take out your mic you would be given 1 minute & 30 seconds to plug it back in before you are automatically booted. The game knows when your controller is unplugged so it should know if your mic is unplugged right?

Read all before you comment!! And Bungie please at least test this or some kind of squad system in a beta!

I think that squad based systems are too complicated, and take out most of the fun. Because most of the time you are trying to figure out what to do.

But I like everything else though.

More Weapons, Equipment, Armor and Vehicles for sure, but I think 8 v 8 is really more than enough, and the Squad System is unnecessary.

I thought it would be nessesary if there is larger team multiplayer battles. And how is it complicated exactly?

The squad leaders for your squad would probably just private leader chat for a few seconds and then tell you to follow them for a specific attack route that all the other squads are taking. Or just have 2 squads defend the flag and the other 3 attack. Squadleaders couldn't just boot all their squadmates because they have to vote for each player. And with a majority of your votes and a squadleader vote you could boot squadleaders if they are being a jerk. The game also wouldn't allow voting to boot someone until 30 seconds into the game.

Squad Based gameplay doesnt work for one major reason. NOONE LISTENS TO OTHER PEOPLE. Someone might be the squad leader, but when you go into matchmaking, noone will listen to them. People will just run around like fools, shooting at the first non-friendly thing they see. And big games wont work, because in a 160 player game, alot of players will quit out, betray teammates, or be AFC all game.

If you quit in a squad based game you lose 2 exp. If you quit 5 times in a squad game over the period of a day or 20 times in a week then you are kicked from matchmaking for 2 days. As for people listening we'll have to test it in a beta. And betraying could be solved by taking away friendly fire or having a betray limit then you are automatically booted from the game. Also the game will remember how many times you betray someone or quit in any matchmaking playlist, and make it less likely for you to be a squad leader.

Imagine this: You're in the pregame lobby and the the 4 squadleaders have been chosen for your 12 player squad including them. You know they are the squad leaders because there is a SL symbol next to their gamertag. You are on blue team and scroll down off the screen to see the rest of your team. Finally the game starts the vetoe countdown for Multi Flag CTF...ok 20 seconds later. You're in the game on a huge map called (insert name here) and everyone just jumps into vehicles and runs for the enemy flag. One of the squad leaders for your squad betrays you because he wants to drive the warthog, but youre in the driver seat. Everyone in your squad knows who you were betrayed by because it shows up on their screen, and the other squadleaders just vote to boot him. Ok now 5 minutes into the game and your team is losing. One of your squadleaders goes into private leaderchat(you can tell by the black SL waypoint on his head) and and presses (LB) to invite the other squadleaders. They talk for maybe 30 seconds and decide to have 2 squads stay behind and guard the flag while the 3 others flank their base from forward left and right... anyway that works now you're tied and then you get another capture and you win. At the end of the game 4 people from each squad are chosen for extra exp and then your squadleaders each choose one person from their squad for extra exp... the end.

Since in halo 3 we see a bunt and a sometimes dash on all weapons it skewed the close weapons namely the shotgun, maulers, hammer, and plasma lance. the hammer and plasma lance had to rely on bunt while the shotguns and maulers had both a fire option and a bunt. this was kinda curved with the hammer since it had an aoe but the plasma lance the covenant's vanguard weapon for their highest ranks and their spec ops was left lagging behind. I know it already has a slight increase range then the hammer but maybe a step more would not to much and perhaps a 5%-10% speed increase, there could also be a difference between the normal slash and the quick bunt besides speed like in halo one where the elites would swing it in such a wide arc this could hit everyone in bunt range next to the main target or those who circle around. There where also the honor guard elites in halo 2 that would either do a vertical slash or a horizontal slash

I am all i am, i am a team player(when im not pissed), i make great strategies, i will punch you in the face after armor locking, you have to be at sniper distance to not get headshot by my DMR or pistol, wraiths beware, i am DxXOrangesXxD and i am ready to rumble! (When Halo 4 comes out cause Reach is nothing but crap players now)

Basiclly everything, minus a few options, like there ARE goign to be more weapons and vehicles thats a fact and there IS going to be more armor, bungie not dumb enough to use the same armor from halo 3 all over again if only as starting armor, and there SHOULD be more multiplayer but that is a ridiculious number and i dont think the halo engine could support that many, maybe 24-32 for 12 vs 12 or 16 vs 16

wtf? i think you mean melee not bunt. and its a sword not a lance. lances are for jousting and stabbing. swords are for cutting (in the non emo way) and slashing.

and if you are saying those need to be more deadly you are smoking, sniffing, and/or injecting something very baad for you.

you want sword with longer range? play halo 2. you shouldn't be able to snipe with melee weapons. why? CAUSE THEY ARE -blam!- MELEE WEAPONS! THAT"S WHY!

and lunge and melee on the sword are different. lunge is undercut. melee is overcut.

halo is ranged combat. you want close combat play COD4 on Shipment.

or Zelda.

no. classes suck. one person will make a super class and everyone will copy it and it'll make halo boring because everyone will be the same or have a higher advantage over everyone else. people will grow bored, nobody but the hardest of the hardcore will play, people will quit playing halo (due to the fact that they can't compete with the HCG and MLG people and it won't be fun for them.) and halo will die forever.

this is called "net-teching" and is common in CCGs and Minis games. however unlike halo those game genres usually come out with new answers to current problems with every set. i doubt bungie will release a bi weekly patch (people tend to play video games at a higher rate then CCGs and Minis games have tournaments.)

this is why your idea fails. so stop putting it in every topic you see on this forum please.

Ummmmmmm that wouldn't work. You have to check your facts buddy because the spartans weigh one TON usually most of which is armor so that is incorrect. Also the eliets seem to have much better traits than both spartans and brutes so i dont think this would work

If everyone copies the same model and armor weight then it will just be regular halo where everyone is the same. No one will have a big advantage over everyone else because there is a limit for status of each class in speed, health, and meele damage. There is nothing wrong with this you just don't like it.

Stop trying to always find a way to dis this idea just because you don't want it! No elites don't have too many advantages, and even if everyone copies the same model with the same armor weight then it will basically be just as boringly everyone is the same as Halo is now.

no. classes suck. one person will make a super class and everyone will copy it and it'll make halo boring because everyone will be the same or have a higher advantage over everyone else. people will grow bored, nobody but the hardest of the hardcore will play, people will quit playing halo (due to the fact that they can't compete with the HCG and MLG people and it won't be fun for them.) and halo will die forever.

this is called "net-teching" and is common in CCGs and Minis games. however unlike halo those game genres usually come out with new answers to current problems with every set. i doubt bungie will release a bi weekly patch (people tend to play video games at a higher rate then CCGs and Minis games have tournaments.)

this is why your idea fails. so stop putting it in every topic you see on this forum please.

No one will have a big advantage over everyone else because there is a limit for status of each class in speed, health, and meele damage. There is nothing wrong with this you just don't like it.

I've never been a fan of CoD starts. I prefer Halo for a reason. I simply don't want to start the game and choose a class. You can already choose what species you want to be and running for weapons isn't that hard. Most people will use BR anyway. This sorta give the poor Brutes a major disadvantage unless they start with Carbine too. A Plasma Rifle takes shields down faster than the AR and AR deals more damage once shields are down. Spiker is good in both fields. This takes away from Halo's Balance.

Halo is practically already squad based. You just have to be able to get people to listen to you. That is what makes a good leader. Just choosing any average joe for Squad Leader would result in demoralizing leaders, jerks, -blam!-s, people that aren't even there, and so on. Just take control of your team and lead them to victory without the SL by your name. A true leader can do that. I can personally say that listening isn't a strong point in Halo's community. They like to sorta do their own thing unless Bungie says they can't. Bungie is our main leader here.

I'm all for new Armor. But new weapons and vehicles is unlikely since this is a prequel. I wouldn't mind seeing the Spectre and Rocket Hog return though.

Here’s what Luke had to say about the differences in treatment between the Spartans and Elites in Reach:

“Instead of piece-by-piece customization like the Spartans, Elite customization is a full model swap with models selected from the various Elite classes appearing throughout the Campaign. There are all kinds of reasons for this, not the least of which is our continued emphasis on the Spartan as your identity in Reach.”

Squads = NXE Parties. 16 people is too large as well. Maybe squads of 5.

I don't think classes would work well, but if you must put them in, make it so that it modifies their base trauits and not weapons and equipment.

Modify speed, reload speed, jump height, speed while encumbered, ammunition capacity, accuracy, etc.

I think you guys are misunderstanding me. You don't always choose which model you start with for every game. You choose your character the same way you choose spartan or elite in Halo 3. The differences between the models by default should be just over noticible. Even if you change your stats by adding or taking away armor the differences still wouldn't be a big deal.
