Hmmm... I don't know if these classes are balanced. It seems the rocket launcher class beats everything just like in Halo 3 where the rocket launcher is the power weapon. Though I like class games like CoD, I wouldn't want Halo to become class based because that was the style of gameplay from Halo 1 all the way to Halo: ODST. There are just too many really good power weapons in the game that can't be balanced out. I think Bungie adopted their style of gameplay because they wanted to only have one player controlling a certain power weapon, and not just have games where everyone has rocket launchers. IMO I don't think this style of gameplay will work for Halo.
I'll first address the Balance issue. Yep, I know. But it came out of a fan's mind. What more should anyone expect right? I tried balancing it as much as I could think of but, yea, didn't really do a great job, did I? :D
Also, I know that people think a Class based system won't work with Halo. Your point is extremely valid. And don't get me wrong, I love the current Gameplay style. But, Halo could use some sort of revamp in the way it works and maybe Reach could be just that? I mean, its time to expand right? And its Bungie. They can make it work.
Its all speculative though. Its just that the banner above gave me and a bunch of other people the "Class System" vibe.

It may be class based, due to the Reach banner, but I don't think it'll be so CoDish. I think Bungie is gonna come up with something different and unforseen. And if they do go with this style, they should have the ability to build your own class. I would see it going more in the direction of TF2 rather than CoD, but as I said, I see it becoming something entirely new.
I didn't exactly mean for it to be CODish. I just used the name 'Perk' because that's what people will easily relate to.
No, I understand, it is just that it still seams to CoDish. Too realistic, almost. I don't know how to explain it, without using that classic fanboy excuse, "It just isn't Halo." Don't get me wrong, I love class based fps, and it could work in halo. Hell, if anyone can make it work, it's Bungie. As I said before, I don't think they will follow the format of current class based fps. Nice post btw. Very well thought out.
Ah I see. Well, this would be a huge departure from the standard Halo model. But I think now's the time to expand on Halo? And like you said, if anyone can make it work, its Bungie.
And haha, "It Just isn't halo" is really appropriate. But my question is "What if it's like Halo? And we just haven't experienced it yet?"
But thanks for the compliments. This is how a thread should be like. Nice, peaceful discussion. Unlike most of the other threads around here.
