Quite the contrary I feel. If you don't want to see Halo evolve into new types of gameplay, you are not a Halo fan. You just like the game.

Why would you want to change a series into another game. The game already changed into another type of game, its called halo wars. And theres a reason it didn't do well as the fps halo.

Sure thing. Not a lot of people like RTSs. But a Class Based game? Still a FPS. It will still be the same traditional run and and gun gameplay we like, just in a class based format. Plus, being made by Bungie and all, a change made by them will be expertly done so to not alienate all of us Halo fans.

Holy -blam!- you sound like a -blam!- idiot. Have you ever played a god damn Halo game. Did you happen to notice how it plays or did you just sit there thinking about a way to ruin it without playing it? You can't replicate the feel of Halo's gameplay in a classed based game. Stop trying to ruin a good series. Go play something that is already class based. Get off these forums -blam!-.

Sighs, I like people trying to be smart. It makes me feel even smarter.

It depends on the kind of class system. I don't think any of us are even talking about a system like COD because that probably wouldn't work. You're just one of the -blam!- idiots trying to keep Halo with the same gameplay that it has had for practicaly the past 10 years and it's getting old for some of us.

its not smart, its called ignorance. Changing the game to class based gameplay is a stupid move. It ruins the multiplayer and campaign for all the people who grew up with halo or have just been addicted to the series since its first halo game. Why change a system that works. Its like playing craps. Halo: CE, 2, and 3 are the "seven" of craps. Its the most likely one to succed. While changed the game is like picking twelve. It still has a chance at succeeding, but is much more unlikely compared to the seven. Its simple.

EDIT; if youre getting sick of halos gameplay, go play a new -blam!- game, dont ruin it for the people who still like it.

Again it depends on what kind. My system would basicaly just make elites stronger and spartans faster.

Hey smart idea here. I hear your'e getting tired of the Halo gameplay, right? Well go play another game then. I and many other Halo fans love Halo and the way it plays. Why should Bungie change it for you. Oh that's right, they shouldn't. Go find a new series to play now and leave or go make your own class based Halo game. We really don't need a massive change in Halo.

What's wrong with simply making the elite by default stronger, and the spartan faster. That's not a class system.

That ridiculous and pointless. Halo needs none of that. Why is that needed in your opinion? BTW define "stronger", it has many implications.

I'd actually prefer that Halo: Reach retain that part about Halo that makes it different than class-based games like Team Fortress or Call of Duty, if it turns out to be an FPS (if it's an MMORPG, "classes" or "professions" would be a required dynamic, of course).

Halo has always been about dominating the power weapons and effectively using what's on the map. Unlocking better weapons and perks makes it unfair for lower levels and puts you at an automatic higher advantage, and therefore would just make it as utterly unfair as Call of Duty always seems to be.

Classes just don't seem like something that could be incorporated, even if there was no perk/weapon upgrades or whatever, because it would just turn into a futuristic and less cartoon-like version of Team Fortress, at least to me.

Elites: stronger meele, more health, and stronger shields
Spartans: faster, faster meele, faster shield recharge, and faster reload time

We don't need it... we don't need any more weapons, vehicles, or anything other than a addition to the Halo story either. We don't need equipment, armor perms, etc. You just want them. We don't need classes it's just a idea. His and my system wouldn't hurt gameplay you just don't want it even though mine is a majorly nerfed class system all you can think is that if it even barely changes the way Halo has been for too than it's stupid.

I don't want equipment, I don't want armor permutations and I most definitely do not want some class system especially a half assed one. I want a similar experience that the first Halo delivered with the new features like boarding and the new weapons and vehicles.

Listen, I love Halo. I still play it as much as I can. In fact, I just played some games. But as a Halo fan, not a fan of Halo 3, but a fan of the Halo series, I want to see Halo evolve. And if Halo has to change from its roots and still retain that Halo feel, I feel only Bungie can pull it off.

So, please, try not to make yourself seem right. No one's right here. But hey, I play a lot of other games and you know what? Surprisingly, they do some things better than Halo does and Halo does some things better than them. Maybe if you would get out of that little ignorant shell you're living in, you'll understand that instead of trying to be smart and asking me to play another game.

lol, you hypocrite. "try not to make yourself seem right", and then "Maybe if you would get out of that little ignorant shell you're living in".

Its quite obvious other games do certain things better than halo. obviously you don't respect your fellow fans because you think that bungie should take away working gameplay, change they system, and hope that it works out to be more popular than the previous halos. Statistically wise, its very unwise to change halo, and i know bungie wont do it, unless they dont care about 80% of their fan base.

Great ideas, I don't think it would work though. In COD all the weapons are balanced so that one class does not dominate another class (sometimes...(cough MP40 cough)). Anyway, someone choosing the AR class would have trouble fighting snipers/BR'ers. And the Support/Heavy class is WAYYYYY overpowered.

The ideas are there, but to make it work they would have to balance the weapons... a lot. (a lot.)

I agree with you. I suggested that Reach should be a Squad based Spartan FPS with the ability to use cover (without ability to fire), go prone, create newer weapons while balancing old ones and allow you to choose weapons before the game starts.

I got flamed super hard though.

Simply just no. This is Halo not CoD or any other games with squad based multiplayer. Halo is Halo. Why would Bungie want to change their multiplayer into something like this. Halo is different from CoD, if it was squad based then there wouldn't be has many fans, because Halo has it's own multiplayer that just fun. When Bungie made Halo it was for more of a fun shooter, not any squad based military game. Like said go to CoD for squad based or Battlefield.

Just because they change it, doesn't mean they don't care about the fanbase. As I've said countless times before in this thread, the people at Bungie are not stupid. If they make a class based game, they will design it such that it retains the Halo feel. And no, don't tell me a class based game will never have the Halo feel. None of us here have played a class based Halo. Rest assured the folks at Bungie know what they are doing and such a change in the gameplay style will still feel 'Halo' like.

Look man, I've been playing Halo since Halo CE, as I'm sure you probably have too. Halo 3 is still my #1 Xbox 360 Game out. I literally can't stop playing it. But, you have to remember that if Bungie changes the gameplay style, they won't just take the Halo 3 system and make it class based. They will be making a class based system and forcing Halo to work with it. No, they will make a Halo game and make a class based system work with it.

I love the idea. but i think it should be spartans vs elites (the elites get the covie counterpart of human weapons, it would require a little balancing but it'd work).

You obviously don't love Halo. Go play another game series if you don't like the current Halo gameplay. A class bassed game can't play like a Halo game. A Halo game has weapons and vehicles on map that need to be controlled to win. I don't see that happening with a class based system. As a fan of the previous three games I say Bungie needs to stick to their previously established gameplay formula. Too bad I you want clased based online, it won't happen. Go play something else or make your own class based Halo game. Try not to kill a great series with some crazy idea. I would be so pissed if it did happened the only reason I play video games is for Halo and Gears of War and the occasional other game. Go to the Gears of War forum and suggest a class based game and see how bad they flame you. Fans that like a games previously established gameplay elements don't want ridiculous and drastic changes. I just want a Halo game, nothing more.

Could you explain the system that could use both a class based multiplayer and map control through weapons and vehicles already on map that doesn't suck?

As far as I see it, its not a mistake. Its a progression.

And you know what, I don't have to prove to you how much I love Halo. I've been playing Halo since 2002/2003. I skipped school to see the E3 2003 Demo. I skipped school multiple times in 2007 to watch the Iris ARG progress, nearly getting expelled. If that's not any indicator, I don't know what is. Not once did I say Halo's current gameplay sucked. I'm suggesting a change and I know Bungie can still keep it right.

So, please stop trying to insult me by trying to smartass me.

Its not a progression for a game with a great gameplay system to completely change its gameplay formula knowing many of its fans would be absolutely pissed about it. It would be a huge mistake. Please go play something else. I don't know how you could love Halo as much as you claim to and still wish to destroy the game.

I think it should have the same basic halo feel. But you just start of with different weapons.
You still have shields and can jump high get in vehicles. It could work well.
I have an idea that may work if bungie chooses(for whatever reason to make reaches MP class based). Okay, in custom games you can have a setting that lets you turn on/off old school mode(classic halo!!) when old school is off you start the game with character classes! This could also be in matchmaking. There are different catergories in MM so it could go something like:

Ranked
Social
Hardcore
Classic

and Classic could have sub-catergories ranked, social and hardcore.
Then everyone will be happy :)

Bungie shouldn't have to appeal to people that want such drastic changes in their game. How about no class based multiplayer? Go to forge build a spawn room with no exits or entrances. Put weapons in the room and a teleporter leading out. There you go its a class based Halo. We have Sandbox for a reason. Just play with friends so they follow the rules.
