Subject: My Concerns Regarding Halo:Reach

"The most intelligent people disguise the fact that they are intelligent. Wise men do not wear nametags. The more people talk about their own skills, the more desperate they are—their work should speak for itself." -- L Lawliet

I am aware that Halo: Reach is without a doubt taking place during the Battle of Reach moments prior to the beginning of Combat Evolved and me being obsessed with detail and being fond of Halo since Halo:CE's release when I was in the 3rd grade, I wanted to express my concerns regarding this upcoming game.
I am hoping that Bungie does not cause an inconsistency in Halo canon like I one I witnessed in the Halo 3:ODST E3 preview. What I mean by this is the fact that since the game takes place in the Halo 2 era and scenes such as the "flashback with the bridge scene" had marines equipped with Assault Rifles and the Elites as far as I saw where completely absent. In comparison to the Battle of New Mombasa in Halo 2 where there was Elites present during the battle. I know I seem a bit picky but I'm simply obsessed with detail. In other words, I am simply trying to say that I am hoping that this accuracy inconsistency doesn't carry on with Halo:Reach.
Some details I am hoping to see maintained is the return of the older style Sangheili armor since its only moment's before Combat Evolved so the old Combat Evolved/Halo 2 phase Elite armor should style be present for Halo: Reach instead of the Halo 3 era Elites but with more details.
I am also hoping that the Combat Evolved UNSC marine armor returns since it was still up to date during Reach. I don't want the armor there just to neglect the Halo 3 model armor for the UNSC I just don't wish to see Bungie taking any "quick ways out" by reusing Halo 3 models(no offense intended) I just want the accuracy to stay clean an polished so that the game will meet die hard fan expectations.

For the rest I think I'll break this down into sections. These are some additional details I would appreciate if Bungie took a look at but, if they do believe I'm being a bit pushy I am fine with that because it's their franchise and I do not have any right to tell them how to run their games.
=The Unggoy aka Grunts=
I am hoping that the Unggoy will still be detailed like in Halo 3 but at least sport their helmets as they did in the previous games since they did not stop using them until Halo 3.

=Jiralhanae aka Brutes=
Not much needs to be said about the Brutes either other than the return of the furred Brutes because of the constant use of shaved ones is becoming too repetitive since the furred Brutes were only present in Halo 2.

=The UNSC ships=
I don't have much to say on this detail other than I am hoping the Halcyon makes more appearances as well as the other ships mentioned in the books/novels.

=Weapons=
Alright. This is going to be something. Since this is before Combat Evolved and the idea of the battle rifle did not make it into the game until Halo 2 and it appeared in the novels that took place before Reach I am hoping that there will be both the battle rifle as well as the M6D aka God's Handgun will be present simply because it seems like a necessity. As for the Assault Rifle, I think the MA5B(CE assault rifle) should make a comeback despite it having almost as many bullets as the SMG(which should still be present) but this one detail I guess can be overlooked. I also think a lot of weapons from the books/novels should make appearances and be usable.

=Land Vehicles=
The all the vehicles from Halo 3 should be reused except the Halo 3 era Scorpion. Or at least have the Halo 3 Scorpion and Halo 2 era Scorpion available. As well as the return of the Specter(aka Elite's Prowler) because the Jiralhanae aka Brutes should take all the spotlight like they did in Halo 3 because the Great Schism has not yet occurred.

=MJOLNIR Armor=
This is one detail that I am a bit more concerned about. If this was supposedly the last stand of the Spartans at least give them their respectfully accurate armor such as the return of the Mark V and Mark IV as well as their functions. This should not be overlooked. If the Mark Vs were present during Reach they should have armor that behaves like they did in Combat Evolved. The whole 7 yards, the rough landing limitations, the armor details, the health meter, the need for medkits, etc. As for the Mark IVs, they did not have shields that was only in Halo Wars to enhance gameplay so I'm hoping they don't have shields.

In conclusion, these are some of the details I am currently concerned about for Halo: Reach. Please take the time to read this thread when you can Bungie. I just want the game to have the potential to keep the franchise alive as well as its back story. I am sorry if I'm being pushy or if my demanding tone seems somewhat offending. With that said I hope everyone at Bungie has a good summer. --RadicalEdward2 [E23]

Ugh...

First on a BWU.. yeah, I'm cool.

ODST;MYTHIC Screenshot winner! One of the first to get their hands on the mythic map pack.

Nevermind, I had some elaborate post explaining why what you want is childish, but, I couldn't go through with it, I would most likely be banned for being so harsh. All I really have to say is;

What you want is most likely not going to happen, don't like it? Don't play.

My troll sense is tingling.

Regarding weapons, who cares about plot-holes, it's just a stronger variety in gameplay.

about those hairy brutes??

i think i remember hearing or reading that bungie hated their brutes from halo 2.. they were rushed and they liked the halo 3 ones that they spent alot of time on.

and i could be wrong idk.. it might be in the "et tu brute" thing that they released before the game

With B.B. gone, the passion of Bungie.net has lessened.

Attention to detail can be a good thing, but I wouldn't place much worry on gun changes and bestiary changes, to be honest. Changes made to these aspects are made for gameplay reasons, and are not necessarily related to story canon. For example, just because the BR wasn't in Halo 1, doesn't mean that it didn't exist in the Halo story universe at that time as well. It only means you didn't have any.

And as for the Brutes... The Brutes are still furry. They just have armor. A change made due to the Brutes in Halo 2 being rushed and possibly "incomplete in concept," as well as a change made for gameplay necessity. Also, their existence in ODST does not mean it's inconsistent with Halo 2's Elite presence. It merely implies that the remaining Elites were most likely wiped out when the city was destroyed, and Brutes were deployed after the Prophet of Regret's supercarrier jetted.

srry guys i think he has a fair point, and bungie do nothing but moan about canon all the time, so as far as im concerned, if they want to go back in time and do prequels, it shouldbe accurate for the fans..... but even if they didnt stick to their own canon, im still gonna pre-order the little gem........

but id much prefer that they did a sequel after halo 3, the continuation of the story

Sequel is unlikely, I mean, there are so many prequel stories that aren't in game form.

Plus, the covenant/human war is over! It would take a long time to develope a decent story.

What I mean about the lack of Elites in the flashback is that I am referring to one of the levels seen at E3 in which one of the ODSTs had to blow up the bridge to the ONI headquarters. In that small flashback level there wasn't a single Elite and that flashback appeared to be before the slipspace jump. Also because I think that since Halo3 the Sangheili didn't get as much attention as they did in previous games. So I am hoping they'd respectfully give some spotlight back to the Elites and giving then armor more like the ones in CE but, with more detail.

Halo 2 Brutes, even in their incomplete state, were a much better enemy than the Halo 3 Brutes.

Check out the group, Planet Reach and talk about Bungie's next game without the annoyance of the public forum. Oh and it's nice there too.

You thought you had lag, it took Jesus 3 days to re-spawn.

The flashback takes place after the slipspace rupture. That particular one was 2 hours after the drop.
