The fuel rod was nothing but a rapid fire plasma rocket launcher that shot entirely too quick and killed entirely too quick. The flamethrower was a close range weapon you only had to hold down for a few seconds to take out an entire group. All of the new maps on Halo PC were entirely CTF and 16 player based, and I pray Bungie doesn't see online play as a reason to make most of the Halo 2 maps this way cause that is ridiculous. Maps designed for banshees will not be played in LAN Tournaments, and will be entirely for vehicle hoarding noobs who want to bring a Star Wars feel to Halo. No real Halo player will want to climb into a banshee and fly around running over people in Multiplayer because it takes the skill out of the game. Thank God Bungie is putting in answers to all of that nonsense with ways to take out vehicles.
Halo PC sucked because it was entirely for 16 players, vehicles was abused, and the new weapons were unbalanced. I would play on dedicated servers the couple of weeks I actually tolerated Halo PC, and the differential was so obvious. On smaller maps that actually required skill the better team would always win, and win very convincingly... but when games shifted to the larger, vehicle based maps the team with less skill would always close the gap greatly, proving that the new maps were entirely nooby friendly and required less skill than the maps of old. I hope they never let Gearbox touch another thing Bungie does.
The rocket laucher is a more powerful and more deadly weapon then the fuel rod. You should be happy the fuel rod help to take down your worse fear, over abused vehicles.
The flamethrower was a killer upclose so is the shotgun, and a well place grenade and one shot from the shotgun before the person even gets close to hurt you with the flamethrower. Hell just one-three shots with the shotgun alone can kill a person.
