For anyone thats read the books, we already know the ending of Halo:Reach if this is the
case. Let me elaborate on this, if you haven't read the books.. fine. That's all well and good, but you still know that ONLY master chief survives of the spartans and thats enough to know that theres nothing to be surprised during the events of the game if this is the case. There's nothing to say OMG too or, like the Flood in Halo:CE for example. Reach is glassed, end of story. The spartans die, end of story. There's nothing to be enlightened about or no story to be immersed in, when you know the sum of it all in the end. Even if we do play as a seperate bunch of spartans, we still know they die and their objects are failed.

Another thing, why would it be called Halo if Halo has nothing to do with the events of Reach or the Battle? The only reason Halo 3:ODST is called Halo is because it's based directly off the Halo 3 engine, the weapons/etc of Halo 3. Its also effected and directly influenced by Halo. That means the story events of Halo 3:ODST wouldn't be existent if Halo itself (The Ring) existed. I don't see how Reach was effected by Halo whatsoever, and it's going to be based off a completely new engine(Fact stated in an interview) so why would it bear the Halo name if it's not going to be based off a different plot?

Ugh...

First on a BWU.. yeah, I'm cool.

ODST;MYTHIC Screenshot winner! One of the first to get their hands on the mythic map pack.

LOL, "From the beggining, You know the End"

Check out the group, Planet Reach and talk about Bungie's next game without the annoyance of the public forum. Oh and it's nice there too.

You thought you had lag, it took Jesus 3 days to re-spawn.

Yes we know what happens to Reach but it could be based on a side story within the battle that we don't know anything about.

And because Halo is a brand for MS. All games within the universe will probably have Halo in the title.

WoW is like Girls Gone Wild without the tits: idiots and douches taking turns doing anything to get noticed, and no one knows what a condom looks like.

I believe it documents what the second group of Spartan II's do on the ground. Because the numbers in the trailer don't correspond to any known Spartan, and it is know that there was a second batch of Spartan II's(not Spartan III's).

Twilight. All these tween girls love it, they are like "zOMG, edward! *deep sigh* i luv u."
What stopped them from making this book into a movie? Nothing, why did they make it into a movie if everyone knew the end already?
Well, people like things visualised for them, a more immersive expierence. Though we already know how things end with Reach, we all would still like to see this, and expierence it in video game form.

But also, Reach may not follow the storyline of Eric Nylund's book: 'The Fall of Reach"

Bungie could tell a story totally unknown to anyone. For instance, we could follow a group of Spartans that we have never heard about.

The spartans die, end of story.

Not all of them died. end of story.

And that last part of your post is exactly what I would enjoy seeing in the game, because that's exactly what I expect from Bungie to make into something excellent.

to ChrisVN, do they influence anything going on with master chief or anything going in in the GAMES series storyline? No, so its a moot point.

Yeah, quite a lot of Spartans survive. And then there are these mysterious new Spartans in the trailer. And Halo is the name of the franchise. Of course it would bear that name. It's like saying,"Why is it called Star Wars if there was no war in the stars in this one book/movie/game."

There is no greater catharsis than arguing on the Flood.

Maybe, it's different than what we think, an alternate happening. :)

No. Chief, Linda (and possibly James) survived Reach because they were in space. Spartan confirmed survivors of the ground-side battle by the time the Chief and Johnson come back to Reach after Halo 1 are Fred, Will, Kelly, Li, Anton, and Grace.

There were only 5 confirmed KIAs on Reach (Joshua, Malcolm, and 3 unnamed), out of the 27 Spartans which fell to the surface, meaning there could be up to 16 other survivors (Vinh, Isaac, 11 healthy from Beta, 3 crippled from Delta) at Reach... we just haven't seen their story. Yet.

and thats enough to know that theres nothing to be surprised during the events of the game if this is the case. There's nothing to say OMG too or, like the Flood in Halo:CE for example. We don't know what is under Reach. We only know of the battle through two perspectives so far (Chief, Fred).

Reach is glassed, end of story. The spartans die, end of story. There's nothing to be enlightened about or no story to be immersed in, when you know the sum of it all in the end. Even if we do play as a seperate bunch of spartans, we still know they die and their objects are failed.No.

Why was Halo: Contact Harvest called Halo?

"Another thing, why would it be called Halo if Halo has nothing to do with the events of Reach or the Battle? "

Maybe because it takes place in the Halo universe. Spartans....
Also The events at reach are what cause there to only be one spartan. i.e. Master cheif who is the main character of the Halo trilogy.

@ OP - Read Halo: First Strike.

  • 07.03.2009 3:38 PM PDT

I think it would be interesting to have a game where it ends in us failing, we could run outside to see hundreds of Covenant ships sailing over the planet, then see in first person a cleansing beam come down. All the meantime dramatic, tear bringing music playing.

Or the Spartan's you play as could escape and end up elsewhere. MIA for real, not just as a cover up.
