Still using a pump-action shotgun over 500 years in the future I see.

omg not realistic stop game production plz

Last time I thought this theory up, it was in a completely different topic and was off-topic. Therefore I couldn't really get it out to people. This time, I'm refining it and publishing it properly.

The Statement

The Pillar of Autumn is Noble 1.

How?

If you remember, the commander voice is calling for "Noble 1" but to no avail. So where is Noble One? Actually I'll tell you why Noble One is the Pillar of Autumn.

The Commander states that he "needs" Noble 1 in "that fight". I think the fight he's reffering to is the desperate space battle going on, considering that the orbital defense grid was being taken down due to Covenant troops disabling the generators. So therefore, Noble 1 is most likely a ship.

The Pillar of Autumn is NOT the strongest ship the UNSC has. But if you read about the Autumn on Halopedia it is stated that the Autumn had an unusually powerful armament compared to other cruisers. So the PoA was most likely vital in the defense (if you remember in Halo CE, in the cutscene after the first level, the PoA is seen to be able to take multiple plasma missile hits and survive).

There's a problem with your theory dude

Yes you may have spotted it. You will most likely notice that PoA was meant to be capturing a Prophet soon, and the Commander should've expected the Autumn not to be there. Well Reach takes place a day BEFORE this special mission. Therefore the mission would have been postponed because of the invasion, and the PoA expected to fight to aid defence. But Cortana made a blind jump to save the ship and Master Chief (onboard). Arriving at....Halo!!!

Please feel free to discuss, but I'm going to be afk for a while.

Ugh...

First on a BWU.. yeah, I'm cool.

ODST;MYTHIC Screenshot winner! One of the first to get their hands on the mythic map pack.

Possible. But why would they call it Noble 1, and not Pillar of Autumn?

Easy answer.
Code names. The Pillar of Autumn has its name printed on it and if the Covenant saw that they'd know what the ship was however if code names were used it may confuse the enemy or something along those lines.

Definitely interesting, but i don't really see any evidence. It's indeed a realistic theory though. I doubt Noble 1 would be a SPARTAN, as they've never been referred to as anything but that. Sierra being the only exception. Sadly all we can do is speculate.

meh...

Obviously none of you realize that in the military they usually dont go by formal names and use codes instead. Its like the way the military splits fire teams into alpha, bravo and charlie. they dont give ships code names nowadays, but we're talking about completely different types of vessels. They aren't the usual aircraft carriers or aegis cruisers, so it could be different considering that there are a lot of that type of vessel in Halo. So, it could be the PoA, but its unlikely.

you do know that alpha, bravo and charlie are A B and C right? they only use those names because thats how the military communicates, with words. not letters

I think its says Noble-1.
Why?Because I used an audio Program, recorded the voice, sped it up a little, then I amplified the sound making a bit more clear.I know I heard the ble sound of Noble.

Oh hey, it's you from my first thread!

I'm back anyway guys. Some interesting problems you've come up with - as somebody said earlier all I can do is speculate based on guessing.

But the first poster said something about that this isn't possible because PoA was never on the ground......WTF?
