I don't like the price, at all, and as such I will not be purchasing this game.

I would explain in great detail why it's wrong for this game to be priced at $60, but I'll just say it in three words: it's an expansion.

Right because a 5-6 hour campaign,New mode Firefight, Theater mode and a new Halo: Reach beta is definatley an expansion. (Sarcasm)

Don't forget H3 multiplayer.
Which most of us already own, so unless you like paying for the same thing twice...

It was 60$ dollars on every new 360 game.

  • 07.03.2009 5:53 PM PDT

Yea most new games are almost 60$, but i think people are mad cuase they said it was supposed to be under 40$ or something.

Check out the group, Planet Reach and talk about Bungie's next game without the annoyance of the public forum. Oh and it's nice there too.

You thought you had lag, it took Jesus 3 days to re-spawn.

\Back before December, Ske7ch said they did not view it as a full price title at the time. That was over 5 months before the game was priced. they even said it's bigger than they had previously expected.

Halo 3 Multiplayer: $30
All DLC Maps $30
Halo Reach Beta: $20

This is where the problem is at in your statement. We already payed for the Halo 3 mutliplayer, it should be free. I own all DLC maps so far, at least legendary should be free. And believe it or not, a Beta ain't a favor to us, it's a favor to Bungie; free.

But it is not an extra $20 it is an extra $40 dollars plus tax. Your looking at $80 dollars here in Canada. Like come on Mircosoft get real.

Halo: Out with a whimper
A fan made kick ass 2D Halo.

"The crunch on Halo 2 was, 'Oh my god, we're f***ed. We're all going to die.'" ~ Chris Carney

I live in england, I preordered ODST two weeks ago for £30, like 3 days later I get an email telling me the price has gone up to £35 but under their preoder garuntee thingy I still only pay £30.

Brand new games cost £40-£45 here. I don't have anything to complain about, whats the price of a game normally there mr OP?

PEANUT-BUTTER SLAP!

Outraged? No, but I am a little disappointed.
I am getting some amusement out of this thread though, with people pulling values out of thin air and saying that what it should cost. It's even funnier when they include the Reach beta, with it being a limited time offer and all.

How come I never get the sniper rifle?!

I think M$ set the price at 60, and then bungie knew that it wasnt worth 60. But then, they packed in the buttload of other content to make it MORE THAN fair. =] I <3 Bungie. =]
It comes with new campaign, firefight (awesome), New halo 3 maps, Reach beta, AND basicly a copy of halo 3. So i think it would cost more. I was relieved when i heard it was 60$

The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realise it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.

Meh I'm just going to rent it.

No point debating it now, what's done is done.

  • 07.03.2009 9:48 PM PDT

Llamas

your getting a campaign mode that's around 5 hours long
endless hours of firefight play
all the dlc maps
and the reach beta when it comes out...
i think that's a decent deal.. stop whining
if you're outraged go send an email to microsoft cause none of us can do anything about it

I think its just the right price, because every other brand new game is 60$. Except Wii games, but the Wii isn't worth getting anyway...

  • 07.03.2009 11:54 PM PDT

Old School

Yeah i mean, in england it'll be £40, so thats $65. It is quite expensive for whats given unfortunately, i do have a job, but i do spend money on other things other than video games.

WoW is like Girls Gone Wild without the tits: idiots and douches taking turns doing anything to get noticed, and no one knows what a condom looks like.

I have said it before, and I will say it again:
Bungie has always delivered kickass games, so I think we should give them a bit of trust. They seem to know what they are doing. Some people seem to have this notion that Bungie somehow owes them. They don't. You are under no means obliged to buy or play their games. So if you dislike so much about it, stop complaining,(and face it, at this point in post-production, complaining isn't going to change anything) and just don't get the game. It's as simple as that. While you sit there and bicker about how you've been cheated, I will be enjoying the new game. So that's my two cents.

It's like how people are mad about L4D2 coming out. WTF. Seriously, it's like they don't want the new game.

$9.99

That's pretty good for 2 hours of music without explosions and people yelling. I don't care if you steal it, but God does...

the nays have it

  • 07.04.2009 7:14 AM PDT

its £30 here in britain and really for an expansion i thought microsoft was mental but its actually a whole new game so its worth it.

stop with the price threads NOW!!!!

is x-men origins wolverine a full $60 game?... yes

well let's see what we have, a campaign... it took me about 7 hours to beat it, oh some bonus where you fight other wolverines and unlock them to play in campaign..... ok,.... big news here.... that's it....... oh and credits, that's not important.

now lets look at ODST

campaign... it will be at least 6 hours long (halo 3 is 8 hours btw), not to mention he fact that it is open world gameplay. there is also 4 player co-op... wolverine doesn't have that.... hmmm, oh and did i mention there is a whole new frickin gametype that has infinite replay value....?

not to mention 3 new maps for halo 3, that will only be with odst

oh yeah there's this other stuff that's a cool bonus
1. reach beta
2. possible johnson (if pre-ordered)
3. controller (if buying LCE)
4. A WHOLE SECOND DISK THAT IS A BONUS WHICH GIVES YOU ALL OF THE MAPS FROM EVERY DOWNLOAD. ITS LIKE THEIR GIVING YOU HALO 3'S VERSION OF THIS!!!!

I hate repeating myself (yes i have posted this in other threads)

i just want to have good conversation over this game, but all good threads are bombarded with this crap.

after all the points, live time and DLC that we buy, Microsoft cant throw us a bone. I mean common, its bad business, more people would buy the game as soon as its released if it were cheaper, getting rid of the waiting 4 the period were the game drops $6 in price. This also means the Microsoft would make an even bigger kill on DLC sales, with the increased consumer group.

-Its funny how their marketing experts don't realize this. The logic and detail that could be used 2 support this argument is boundless, just think about it.

Also, a few of us were talking during matchmaking and Halo: Reach is definitely going to be, not a first person shooter, not a third person shooter, but a second person shooter. Bungie is going to revolutionize the way you watch other people play games.

Why is everyone all of a sudden ok with the pricing? Three weeks ago we were fairly united that it was a bit too much.

And quit it with those arbitrary addition tables that showcase the supposed value of each of the elements of the game. You know:

Campaign - 90.00
Firefight - negative 31.00
New Maps - 1.00

Or whatever. Most of those tables are wrong. Here's more like it:

Campaign - 15.00 (the cost of a lot of DLC add-ons for major titles that take 4-6 hours to complete)
Firefight - 10.00 (if that, new game modes are often added on for free to games, such as Left 4 Dead)
New maps - 10.00

Total - 35. That's about fair. Hell, bump it up to 40. But there is no way that ODST is worth the price of a full game. It's an add-on and has been described by its developer as such. When you look at the content of Halo 3 vs. Halo 3:ODST and then realize they cost the same amount, its at best absurd.

How to spell "space"?

S-P-ACE! SPACE!

Campaign... $30
Firefight... $10
All DLC on disc for those who don't have Xbox Live... Priceless/$40
We're getting a good deal.

My Best Bungie moment: finally beating all the Halo games on solo legendary.
My Worst Bungie moment: not seeing giant stuffie grunts in the Bungie store.

I love Halo, it could be $100 and I wouldn't care.
