First off, if you believe that this would be best suited in another forum, I'm all ears. I just created this a sort of speculation on the Chief's status in the future of the Halo series, and seeing as how a lot of people think he will feature [majorly] in Halo: Reach, I thought this might be the best place to post this.

Now that all of that's out of the way... I think that the Chief is fine where he is. I would not be disappointed if the Chief is never heard from again. He needs to retire sometime, and regardless of which portal theory you support, the Chief is still WAY out of UNSC space.

All heroes need to bow out sometime, and the Chief has so effectively and thoroughly saved humanity's ass that it'd be hard to top it with anything new. The Arbiter carries on, because his tale isn't yet done - but Master Chief is done, I think. The (hidden?) ending gives a spark of hope for his survival, and, let's face it, he's a damn lucky Spartan. Just leaving him there, with the vague beginnings of a new story? I think it should stay that way.

Let the man be.

He should be. Cause when Red Team was on Reach he was up in space fighting with Linda and James. That was at the same time Reach was "falling". I think we'll play as Red Team on Reach and as Chief in space.

Oh yeah It's Rayzed.

I think we should leave the Chief out completely. He is practically the largest icon of the Halo series and people need to see that he is only average among the ranks of the Spartans.

I'm not discussing whether or not he'll feature in Halo: Reach. I'd like to discuss whether or not you think he should return (in character) to the Halo franchise.

If you want to discuss his role in Halo: Reach, post on one of the infinite numbers of threads dedicated to that xD

"If practice makes perfect" and 'nobody's perfect,' then what's the point of practice?"

Maybe Bungie should pull out the playbook from Kojima's MGS: Sons of Liberty.
Play as Master Chief at the beggining and cut away to play as the new guys.

But he isn't average. He is amazing even in the company of other spartans. That's why he is their leader. He wasn't the strongest, nor the smartest, nor the fastest, but he was the luckiest and that seems to matter the most in the Haloverse.

Luck was the only place the Humans had the Covenant beat for sure.

I think he should somehow return to UNSC space and retire to either being a high ranking officer or train another class of spartans similar to the S-IIs.

That would make sense to me as well - if he does return, not as a central figure.
