Subject: Why no matchmaking in Firefight?!

Seriously Bungie! If you are going to call Halo 3: ODST a full game priced at $60, then couldn't you have atleast implemented matchmaking into Firefight? I can understand why matchmaking wouldn't work in Campaign, but it would work perfectly for Firefight. I really think the "Firefight is built off the old campaign model" is a bad excuse for a game that is considered to be MORE than an expansion. Couldn't you have been bothered to improve the campaign model so it could support matchmaking? Or ATLEAST make it compatible with the custom games model which is already used by matchmaking? When a product is considered to be a full stand-alone game, it's only fair to assume there won't be any limitations with the old Halo 3 engine.

But there's no sense crying over every mistake.
You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.
And the Science gets done.
And you make a neat gun.
For the people who are still alive.

Hmm..Yea it would be great for matchmaking. However we still have the Halo 3 matchmaking with the 3 new maps.

The problem is that I have already paid for halo 3 matchmaking; also, 3 maps are a plus, but I think matchmaking for Firefight would be much better.

Death to rank junkies.

Matchmaking would force you to play with random people, unless you bring three people. That could lead to playing with three idiots that don't do anything except waste lives. This is better in the long run. Just invite some people.

It's impossible this has already been discussed before, use you're search bar. Reason it is impossible is because it is based off the Campaign system which has no matchmaking.

Mythical Group

There is no greater catharsis than arguing on the Flood.

Because I wouldn't want to play it with randoms anyways.

But Firefight matchmaking would be very convenient for the OTHER million players who will get Halo 3: ODST and play it on Xbox Live.

I did, but what is the point of making a suggestion/complaint that is impossible to actually able to work. You're "support" is also that it is suppose to be a full game, well it's not Bungie never said that Microsoft priced it at 60 not Bungie. Even read the FAQ it says it is a expansion.

If it is based on the campaign system, it will have the same horrible lag?

You didn't read my post earlier, because your first post implied that I did not know of the Halo 3 campaign model limitations when my post made it clear that I knew about the limitations. Also, there is a point to this post. I posted about matchmaking in firefight and why Bungie couldn't have done something to make it possible, so I could see the opinions of other users; the point of the Halo 3 ODST forum is to discuss topics related to the game. Finally, Bungie DID say that Halo 3 ODST was a full game on the Halo 3 ODST project page.

There are two things on this forum that piss me off;
Idiots and group invites.
What's even worse, is that I can never seem to get away from either of them ¬_¬

You have a brain. /sarcasm

How can the choice of matchmaking be anything but a good thing? Your argument fails, because you are not forced to play matchmaking. Custom will and always exist!

I have to agree, the lack of Matchmaking is extremely annoying. Once ODST comes out this forum is gonna be flooded with threads asking for players. It'll at that moment when Bungie realises how stupid they. Seriously, what a bunch of idots!

  • 07.03.2009 10:40 PM PDT

Matchmaking? In firefight?
Hell no. I don't want some random jumping in my game, grabbing the two best power weapons, and shelling out 2 grunts with six shots. I'll just run it with my buddies.

^To Stickmen^^

On the project page all it says is it is more than a expansion, that isn't really saying much. Yes, you can see the opinion of others it the topics that already exist instead of making another thread about the same subject. Clearly people want it but Bungie didn't implement it into the game.

So you're saying that being forced to play with idiots with horrible connections who will waste lives is fun? Clearly you have no brain. Firefight isn't a custom game idiot.

Yes, he's saying that it won't have a matchamking service. Like it won't have a system that will pair you up.

Also, Gosko, your "its a campaign-thing-whatever" argument is invalid. Horde has a MM service. Why would that have it and not Firefight?

Bungie is lazy and didn't add it, that's the only reason it doesn't have it. Don't try to justify it.

inb4Horde is not Firefight..

Who cares. Just because you don't have friends who will play ODST with you doesn't mean that we care. They probably should but like I said I don't care

The strongest Rivals are also the strongest allies.

microsoft priced it at 60, not bungie.

the reason theres no mm for it is that one team would be odst and the others wound be brutes or odst, which brutes cant be scaled down, and killing fellow odst is pointles.

*sigh*. No, he doesn't mean a system that will put you against someone (like Halo3's MM), he means a system that will find you people to play Firefight with. Just like Horde from Gears of War 2.

The Campaign never had any Horrible lag. The fact of the matter is, its not that big of a deal, whether its matchmaking or not. Its an expansion with the same Matchmaking multiplayer as Halo 3. Thats why its called Halo 3: ODST. Why are u gettin ur panties in a wad anyway. Even the matchmaking on Horde mode on Gears 2 was bad. I would be happy Bungie is still doing what their doing. Try not to take them for granted. They do alot for us, even though it may not seem like it sometimes.
