Matchmaking would force you to play with random people, unless you bring three people. That could lead to playing with three idiots that don't do anything except waste lives. This is better in the long run. Just invite some people.

You have a brain. /sarcasm

How can the choice of matchmaking be anything but a good thing? Your argument fails, because you are not forced to play matchmaking. Custom will and always exist!

I have to agree, the lack of Matchmaking is extremely annoying. Once ODST comes out this forum is gonna be flooded with threads asking for players. It'll at that moment when Bungie realises how stupid they. Seriously, what a bunch of idots!

So you're saying that being forced to play with idiots with horrible connections who will waste lives is fun? Clearly you have no brain. Firefight isn't a custom game idiot.

NO HE'S NOT, You know what he meens when he says custom. Its just like the option of theatre, forge, or multiplayer. It's just FIREFIGHT. He's not an idiot, stop trying to pick fights with people. If you know what they mean, why bother to start this -blam!-.

Firefight is a 4v.... well enemy bots. I seriously doubt that matchmaking makes any sense unles you mean matchmaking with other players. Either way its erelavent because you would not want to play firefight with random, un-trustworthy people.

There is this thing called CUSTOM GAMES. You could play Private or Public Firefight, just like every new game has done with this resurgence of Survival mode.

Breaking Benjamin 4 ever!!

since there is no Matchmaking for Firefight (which i hate) why dont we try and find a solution for our problem. We could open a forum or something where u could ask for a few people to play campaign or firefight. Wouldn't that help?

bcuz that would require bungie to put something into ODST that wasnt ripped straight from halo 3

seems reasonable for an expansion...whats that you say?...its full priced?

WTF lazy bastards

IM A LEGIT 16

The amount of stupid on this thread is hurting my brain (not you OP, just some of the answers).

Bungie just couldn't be bothered to do it. The game is fully priced because of their whole Halo 3 Matchmaking + Maps amazing bundle thingy mo jigger, even though most people that will buy Halo 3 has it.

So, they consider it unneccessary to bother putting that feature in, since they have this great and wonderful deal with ODST.

since when does full game = matchmaking for firefight???

god i wish bungie had never called it an expansion at first, cause the second i heard that it was a full game i knew the forums would asplode...

the reason theres no mm for it is that one team would be odst and the others wound be brutes or odst, which brutes cant be scaled down, and killing fellow odst is pointles.

Wow... Just wow...

Then it's laziness. ''Well this game is good enough, we don't need to add matchmaking, and save some money.''

To be or not to be... Meh, who cares, let's go drinking

I've played Horde for awhile now, and honestly, it almost always blows having 4 random people, as some quit, others just stand there, and it takes away as it's one of those communicating games where without it, you'll all die. So I rather have 3 friends, or 2 friend, or 1 friend, than to be paired with some person who says "No I want to do my own thing" and takes away form the whole game.

The argument of they should have it in matchmaking is really ridiculous, be happy they're making a new game, if you don't like it don't buy it, but don't complain about it unless you understand how hard it is too make good code for matchmaking. Campaign is A LOT different from online Halo 3. It's not a simple, "Copy and paste this code to here".

they called it an expansion bcuz that is what it is

and the forum "asplosion" is completely reasonable

Exactly Swichiest, it would suck to have to be paired up with complete idiots. Bungie made a good decision but there's always going to be people who complain.

'Be happy they're making a game'? THAT'S THEIR JOB FOR CHRIST'S SAKE.

Me being the consumer can want whatever I want in a game. Especially something as simple as a 'Search for players' feature.

If there are idiots on FF, then fine, I'll deal with it. But I'd rather take the chance of getting paired with idiots then having to play by myself when my friends aren't on.

Thank you OP and the_omen, I have been trying to make this point clear. No matchmaking is a pain in the arse.

I disagree with you. If matchmaking was implemented into Firefight, then you would by no means be forced to use it. Matchmaking in Firefight would be an OPTION, and while you may think it would suck, there are tons of other people. In a thread with a poll asking whether users want matchmaking for Firefight, a HUGE majority of users voted yes. Remember that just because you may not find something useful, doesn't mean that others won't find it useful.

Obviously the decision was bad since there are people who don't like this.

The two options are:

No MM=You get what you want & we don't.
MM=You get what you want & so do we.

Adding MM wouldn't affect you playing with your three buddies and it would allow those who were alone to join up in other games.

Simple explanation: Laziness.

How to spell "space"?

S-P-ACE! SPACE!

According to you, we should have Forge matchmaking.

I'd hate getting paired up with noobs in matchmaking, no thank you!

Uhm, no. According to me, we should have FF matchmaking.

And if you don't want to get paired up with inexperienced players then don't use the 'Search for players' feature... if there even was one...

Where in my post did I say we should have matchmaking for everything? Firefight and Forge are two completely different modes. Of course matchmaking for Forge would not work at all, but it would work perfectly in Firefight for people who don't have many friends that will play Halo 3: ODST.

I know that Urk, the guy who does the blogging for Bungie, said ODST is built off Halo 3's engine so it won't have Firefight matchmaking.

However, I will wait until a high ranking guy from Bungie either confirms or denies that matchmaking will be implemented for Firefight with a front page story.

I think everyone is getting really worked up over something that they don't know for certain, but hey, that's what happens in the forums: making mountains out of molehills one topic at a time.

NO GROUP INVITES

Jesus took 3 days to respawn, talk about lag.

7 BILLION BY 7

I would put GoW 2's Online Horde Mode as an example. I'm not paying 60$(canadian) for a single campaign game with a no matchmaking firefight mode. Look how successful Horde was and still is. Bungie, if you want to milk the series for more money, use ideas that have been proven successful via other games.
