Don't think ODST is worth $60? Don't want to pay twice for something? Then this guide is for you.
=====The Problem~
I was outraged when I heard ODST was priced at $60. I didn't know what to do! I didn't want to waste money on something twice but I still wanted the game!
I tried arguing on these forums, but I quickly learned many posters didn't mind paying for something twice. I had to think of something, and fast! After some thinking I finally had a superb idea!
=====The Plan~
ODST will feature Halo3's multiplayer. Well, what does that mean? It means that I won't need my Halo 3 disc anymore! So I thought, maybe if I sell it, I can make some money and buy ODST. I headed down to my local Gamestop to trade in Halo 3. But those bastards would only give me 6 bucks for it! 6 dollars? That's 1/10 of ODST! It wouldn't make a difference.
So I started snooping around to see what would be the best way to get the most profit out of selling my used Halo 3. I found a site called Goozex. This site uses a Supply and Demand type of selling mechanism. If a game has alot of requests, it's going to cost more. But if it has alot of offers, it's going to cost less. Halo 3 is perfect for this kind of system! As you can see, (The offers/requests that count are the ones that are "Restricted" and "Active") Halo 3 has a great request/offer ratio, coming in at 142 to 84. Since Halo 3 is a game that once you buy it you want to keep it for ever, the offers are quite low compared to the requests.
So what does this mean? It means that if you were to trade this game on Goozex, you are able to get 20 bucks! Wow thats 1/3 of ODST. However, you may only use the money you gain on Goozex. This sucks because it means that since its a Member2Member trading service, you have to wait until someone wants to trade ODST. This usually happens in about 2-4 weeks after the release date. ODST on goozex would be about 45-50 bucks. Of course, I made this sweet deal EVEN SWEETER! To know how, read the next section, though remember you might not be under the same conditions as me.
=====How I WIN!!!~
I have the Legendary Edition of Halo 3. The legendary edition on Goozex sells for 60 bucks. I know, I know, its HALF of what I paid for. But since I'm a genius salesman, I got away with 140 bucks! How you ask? Simple.
On goozex you can choose to offer three versions of a game(Outlined in black). Instead of offering it as a Full Package, I offered it as Disc+Manual. Which means that I won't be giving out the full package (I.E My Precious helmet). All I sold was Halo 3 and extras, for the price of legendary edition! ($60 bucks). I then headed to ebay and sold my Helmet for 29.99 bucks.
Then I bought Halo 3 legendary edition AGAIN for 10. bucks! And then I sold it AGAIN on goozex (without the Helmet. I wants mah helmet :P). That's 140 bucks off my Halo 3 legendary AND I kept my helmet. And all this was possible thanks to the addition of Halo 3's multiplayer in ODST. Thanks so much bungie, I couldn't have done this without you.
And to top it off, I heard that UK was paying 49.99 dollars for ODST. That means that If I accept trades from UK people in Goozex, I'll end up getting it for 39.99!
