DISCLAIMER: I do NOT support the class system for Halo, however due to the bickering on the forums, I will post my best shot at a solution
Many of you are asking for a class system. While I think that it will take away from the fun of Halo, this is how it could work, while preserving gameplay.
One thing before I begin, having default is terrible. Not being able to select your weapon, and tailor it to your needs sucks.
Every Halo player will get 5 classes. It doesn't matter what level they are, they all have the same thing. That way, a level 30 can't destroy a level 1.
Now these would be the weapons to choose from:
UNSC
-Assault rifle*
-Battle rifle**
-SMG
-Light machine gun (Hopefully. Effective at medium range only)
-8-gauge shotgun***
-Rocket launcher
-Sniper rifle
Covenant
-Plasma rifle*
-Spiker
-Needler
-Carbine
-A Covenant light machine gun (Hopefully. Effective at medium range only)
-Plasma shotgun***
-Fuel Rod cannon
-Brute shot
-Beam rifle
Side Arms
-Magnum****
-Plasma Pistol
-Mauler
Then would come equipment/grenades
Grenades
-Frag
-Plasma
Special Grenades
-Spike
-Flame
Equipment - One only
-Bubble shield
-Regenerator
-Power drain
-Flare
-Deployable cover
-Auto turret (Lasts only 30 seconds)
-Radar Jammer
If you guys really want "perks," we could only have one at a time, and they would be called "bonuses"
Bonus
-Damage Dealer- You do 15% more damage.
-Invisible - You don't show up on radar
-Juggernaut- You have 10% more health, but you shields recharge 10% slower.
-Trigger happy- Your weapons have an extra clip
-Double double- Carry two primary weapons instead of a side arm.
-EOD- Take 5% less damage from explosives
-Grenadier- Carry one extra grenade
Now that we have a base line, this is what an example class would look like:
CLASS-Assault
PRIMARY
-Assault Rifle
SIDE ARM
-Plasma pistol
Grenade........Special
Plasma....................Flame
BONUS
Trigger Happy- Your weapons have an extra clip
Along with your classes, there would also be weapons lying around on the map. That way, if you need to use a missile pod or something, you go and gab it.
This to me is the only way that a class system could be incorporated while still keeping the same essential gameplay of Halo.
