DISCLAIMER: I do NOT support the class system for Halo, however due to the bickering on the forums, I will post my best shot at a solution
Many of you are asking for a class system. While I think that it will take away from the fun of Halo, this is how it could work, while preserving gameplay.

One thing before I begin, having default is terrible. Not being able to select your weapon, and tailor it to your needs sucks.

Every Halo player will get 5 classes. It doesn't matter what level they are, they all have the same thing. That way, a level 30 can't destroy a level 1.

Now these would be the weapons to choose from:

UNSC
-Assault rifle*
-Battle rifle**
-SMG
-Light machine gun (Hopefully. Effective at medium range only)
-8-gauge shotgun***
-Rocket launcher
-Sniper rifle

Covenant
-Plasma rifle*
-Spiker
-Needler
-Carbine
-A Covenant light machine gun (Hopefully. Effective at medium range only)
-Plasma shotgun***
-Fuel Rod cannon
-Brute shot
-Beam rifle

Side Arms
-Magnum****
-Plasma Pistol
-Mauler

Then would come equipment/grenades

Grenades
-Frag
-Plasma

Special Grenades
-Spike
-Flame

Equipment - One only
-Bubble shield
-Regenerator
-Power drain
-Flare
-Deployable cover
-Auto turret (Lasts only 30 seconds)
-Radar Jammer

If you guys really want "perks," we could only have one at a time, and they would be called "bonuses"

Bonus
-Damage Dealer- You do 15% more damage.
-Invisible - You don't show up on radar
-Juggernaut- You have 10% more health, but you shields recharge 10% slower.
-Trigger happy- Your weapons have an extra clip
-Double double- Carry two primary weapons instead of a side arm.
-EOD- Take 5% less damage from explosives
-Grenadier- Carry one extra grenade

Now that we have a base line, this is what an example class would look like:

CLASS-Assault
PRIMARY
-Assault Rifle

SIDE ARM
-Plasma pistol

Grenade........Special
Plasma....................Flame

BONUS
Trigger Happy- Your weapons have an extra clip

Along with your classes, there would also be weapons lying around on the map. That way, if you need to use a missile pod or something, you go and gab it.

This to me is the only way that a class system could be incorporated while still keeping the same essential gameplay of Halo.

For all the weapons with * next to them, please refer to MLG Cheehwawas thread, and to another thread of mine.

For the playlists:

There would be two sets of playlists, one that allows for classes, and another that does not.

Ugh...

First on a BWU.. yeah, I'm cool.

ODST;MYTHIC Screenshot winner! One of the first to get their hands on the mythic map pack.

I do not see how this will ever work. What will happen to playlist, and gametypes? What will happen too risk and reward? What will happen to the mobility and the thrill of moving around in the map?

If you can start with whatever weapon you want (basically), this will turn into 'who can camp better'. People will just stay in a secluded spot and try and snipe. Classes just suck, stop trying to come up with "THE SOLUTION" to it, there is only one solution, don't add classes into the game. Simple.

oh wow, what an original idea.

Did you read my post? Did you read the disclaimer? If you had, you would have seen how I do not support classes in Halo. But this is my take at how it could work.

Not everybody would try to snipe, look at other games with classes. There isn't too much camping, not any more than there is in Halo.

If anything this could stop some of the camping because you could longer grab the only shotgun on the map and camp.

I really do not want to have to deal with sarcasm.

class system <> cod system.

All of those "Bonuses" -perks- are taken straight from Call of Duty 4.

Have you no shame?

Well, those are just me trying to satisfy everyone. Which I forgot is impossible.

This is just me saying to the fanboys of CoD: Here is your class system, and me trying to say to Halo fanboys: You can still do whatever you used to.

Because if you had read the thread, you would have seen that weapons would still be placed on the maps.

I don't see why you guys are being so negative. While I don't want a class system in Halo, this is pretty good in terms of giving the best of two worlds.

Not to mention that nobody will ever have to complain about starting off with a bad weapon.
