Just simply, halo 3 was a casual gamers game, not to say it was bad or not fun. It was just "noob friendy", thats because of the melee, OP guns everywhere, aim assistance, slow movement speed.

Im noy saying get rid of certain things completely, just reduce them. Aim assistance is kind of ridiculous, it practically aims for you. And the lunge distace is way too far.

A movement speed increase increases the amount of skill required to play the game. Is it easier to get sniped when youre moving slow or fast?

Overpowering grenades. 5 minutes into any game, there are grenades everywhere because of all the dead bodies, and then grenade spam becomes a noobs best friend. This really doesnt take much if any skill. The explosion radious is pretty large, and they do a huge amount of damage. I think a solution would be either to keep the radius and lower the damage or lower the radius and keep the damage.

Slow equipment/slow weapon switching. If youre in the middle of a fire fight, and the weapon youre using is incapabable of killing your opponent, then you have to switch, and because of the really slow delay of weapon switching, the only way youre gonna surive is if the gun you're switching to can instantly kill them.

And by the slow equipment i mean how long it takes for the equipment to come out, its been way too many times where i just finished a fire fight with people, and now im getting my -blam!- together and finding cover so a br doesnt one shot me. A br guy pops out of a corner, but luckily you have a bubble shield. But oh -blam!-, it came out after you died because it took too long.
------------------------------------------------------------
those are the only gameplay mechanics i would change for now, and sorry but anyone who says the game is totally skill based is either a complete idiot, or just a casual gamer.

A few things i can agree with, but i really don't want this game to become so competitive it's not entertaining. Competition is healthy don't get me wrong. I just would hate for the game to suffer because of people wanting a super serious MLG pro game.

Those would be some good changes. A new ranking system would be nice too. Maybe make it more like GoW2 and CoD's ranking systems, where you gain experience for kills not wins. I also agree with the post above me. Keep it as casual as possible, because some people, myself included, actually play games for fun.

Sure, competition is nice, but you're turning this into MLG sort of. MLG players don't play for fun.

lol, i know what you mean. Its not very rewarding when you carry your team but you still lose, and you get deranked.

P.s. spartan 90210, i know what you mean about competitive, but im not saying get rid of aim assist and melee lunge, reduce them, because it seemed like it became a stronger influence from halo CE to halo 3.

i agree.
melee=overpowered+ long lunge
weapons=too many high damage weapons
autoaim=way too easy to aim with

The melee should be fixed, guns should kill faster. Very little aim assist.

Wait, a gameplay suggestion that doesn't involve Call of Duty?

Crazy

Yes, I remember in previous games it was hard for me to attain a high level in MM, but in Halo 3 I got to 45 with relative ease. This might be that everyone who plays Halo 3 sucks, but I think it's more because you don't need skill to win the match or get a lot of kills. I don't want MLG, although I don't want it to be easy.

Same with campaign, there needs to be a harder difficulty for that.

I know exactly what you mean, in halo 2, i think the highest rank i got to was like 34 when i was at the top of my game. But in halo 3, i got to a 47 in about 3 weeks, theres something wrong there. And campaign, is incredibly easy on legendary, mythic doesnt really count because thats basically just handicapping yourself to make the game harder.

Wasn't Halo 2 just people using mods to get to 40+?
Regardless, I still think it needs more of a challenge, but still easy enough for the people who aren't skilled to still have fun.

I'm not MLG, not even close, and that's why I think it's too easy if I can get to high rank with ease. Going to MLG takes the fun away, so much so that I'll just become frustrated and smash my controller into the ground.

In other words I want more challenge but in the way that's it's still light-hearted and fun, which is not what I get when I play in MLG.
